I really enjoyed my experience. Charli and Kenny were both extremely helpful and laid back - just enough to make a very serious class feel tolerable and fun. The students that were most successful were the ones that were humble and just doing their best to follow instructions. I could tell that the instructors wanted us all to enjoy our experience and pass our riding test. I passed but still have ALOT to learn. The tips i'd offer are: - Find a friend with a bike prior to the class so you can sit on it and learn the controls. Just learn whatever you can -Get on any two wheels available to warm up in the days prior to class/morning of, and practice going around corners and turns (even a bicycle) -You will get hot, wear comfy clothes and plan to sweat. The gloves, boots, helmet, and pavement roast you -Be humble and try to relax - everyone is a newbie. They will give you feedback and and constructive criticism. You're not in trouble and you probably don't suck as much as you might be thinking lol - Pack your own snacks and cold water Thanks again for the cool experience. It's much appreciated. STORY TIME my review is focused on some of the 1 reviews as well as to compliment Lawrence & Kerri: First let me say I am not affiliated with pacific safety in any way other than a satisfied (future) customer! There is a common similarity with all these disgruntled comments and that is the lack of self responsibility and entitlement. Although it's your right to vent on this review process , all it does is entertain the rest of us at the lack of your own self awareness. It's sad that we live in a society now where people thrive off of "cutting off someone else's head just to make themselves seem taller". Remember you signed a contract, you agreed to everything within that contract! These trainers aren't here to give out hugs, in fact they are here keep you alive as well from possibly killing another person! I wanted to purchase a gift card of sorts for my wife on our 8th wedding anniversary by getting her moto classes. Lawrence wasn't exactly sure at time the process of obtaining that for me however he assured me he would do his best by finding out, as well Lawrence made some wonderful suggestions to me on possibly putting together a swag bag as part of the gift , I don't have to tell you as a 50yr old married man that I was stoked on the friendly advice and that I took it! Fast forward next day I received a text from Lawrence that he was able to collaborate with Kerri and they put together a gift certificate with my wifes name on it ( see photo) and some stickers etc. Lawrence and I have had amazing communication nearly daily and I'm not even a student in the class nor is wife just as yet! I just took the CMSP course September 23/24, 2024. My instructor was Charli and she was a really great instructor. She was funny but also she could be pretty "mean" (that one is for you Charli). This class definitely isn't for those who are sensitive and not coachable. If you can't take criticism and apply it to your riding then you will not pass. Instructors are 100% lookin out for everyone and our safety. I passed the test feeling confident, although i've been around motorcycles, dirt bikes, and mountain biking growing up, this course is very valuable for when you are a beginner rider. If you really want to ride you should put 100% of your effort and focus into this course if you want to pass. And it's the best $425 i spent this year. Let's just say that the MTC course is not really for beginners... or it is for those who already kind of have experience with Motorcycles. This is a review for their Chula Vista location. I took the course in October 2023 and a review was long overdue. I had a very not enthusiastic experience with them. While the theoric/writing part of the experience was easy and straightforward, the Motorcycle practice sessions were simply appalling and absolutely not geared towards ultimate beginners. The entire two sessions are already a lot. You gotta be there by 6am and have to follow along. Let me tell you that by the end of the second day, when you actually have to pass your test around 4 or 5pm you are tired and not necessarily as focused as you would like to be, especially when you are learning something 100% new to you. The class was kind of a joke, the majority of the people in the course were somewhat experienced or had some sort of history with Motorcycles. Quite frankly, it was pretty obvious that they were trying to find a simple way to get their license. I kept wondering what I was doing amongst them. $425 the course is hard to swallow for that kind of "quality." In addition, while there were a couple of good teachers, those who were bad made the whole experience not worth it. At best, it was hard to hear them, and for the worst, some of them were condescending when some questions were being asked. I'm European, and I'm used to having to take expensive and required driving courses to keep my license, but these MTC classes were not helpful and almost made me want to quit learning how to ride. Now I'm finding myself booking private motorcycle lessons instead, because in all honesty, the Pacific Safety Center did not: 1) Make me feel safe riding bikes, 2) Did not make me feel confident enough in my ability when it comes to riding on my own, 3) Did not provide useful techniques for me to use, on the contrary, they left me confused and unsure of what to do next. read more

I just took the msf course 7/28-7/29 July 2025 my instructors were Charli and Alex. They were Amazing instructors with great knowledge and enthusiasm. They would constantly judge your mistakes and offer corrections with each exercise. Coming into the class I thought I knew how to ride a motorcycle since I've been on the road a few times before taking this class let me tell you there was definitely improvements I didn't notice I needed until taking this class. They offered great coaching skills. Alex was extremely nice and friendly and overall a great instructor. charli was very strict but with purpose! She was also very funny and just as amazing as Alex. I will be taking the intermediate/advanced course soon and would love to work with Charli once again wouldn't have wanted any other instructor. Just had to say this is an outstanding school and program if you are wanting to learn safe motorcycle riding and up to date skills. I had a motocross background before I jumped to road bikes and bought a 750 BMW - then a 900 BMW (R90s). I rode for about 15 years and then with wife and kids - got off for at least 25 years. Yes, it's been awhile! I took the intermediate course and could not be more satisfied with the results and skills I learned. I arrived early to practice the lollipop test. It was a long and cold 8 hour training day, but it really mixed it up well with in-class video, road course work, written tests and Q&A. There was so much to learn - low speed work, high-speed work, avoidance techniques, throttle and brake control - and so much more. I have to really commend my instructor Kenny E. Excellent instructor! Very knowledgeable, experienced and professional. Kenny really gives you customized, 1 on 1 instruction (keep your chin up, turn your head to the right, you're braking too soon, roll off the throttle slower) and he doesn't miss a detail (button your chin strap). Kenny is able to give you direction in a way you will understand. He was really patient and answers all your questions - which only increases the value of this course. I used their school motorcycle a 200cc Suzuki. And it was also fun to get to know the other students in the class and hear their backgrounds and experience. I also need to recognize and acknowledge the great job Kerri W. did in communicating and coordinating the available dates and my schedule, She was always professional, available, responded to all my messages quickly and there isn't a single question she can't answer. I'm an experienced rider and attended an all day class to hone some skills and hopefully rid myself of some bad habits. I'm very glad I did, and very worth the money. Charlie was our instructor. She was able to point out the flaws in my technique how to correct them. Even though there were 4 other riders in the class, Charlie was able to offer plenty of personalized attention. It's been a couple weeks since the class and I'm finding I'm more aware of my surroundings, making better turns, and overall more confident of the road. Thanks again Charlie. Ok, so this experience was WAY more informative than I thought it would be, the technical & riding skills were taught with CLARITY and patience, AND combined with the instructors (Kenny and Kaia) personalities, it was a 2 day B-L-A-S-T and freaking awesome!!!! I hadn't ridden in 35 years & wanted to do it again now the kids were grown; I also had a bad car accident 3 1/2 years ago and I was really scared to get on a bike again after but I was also determined to not let that accident to continue to steal my joy of riding any longer. Plus, I'm going back into the office post Covid & driving 100 miles/day round trip so biking is a cost saving. I did my classes the last week of June 2021... on-line Friday evening and then Saturday & Sunday classes were on the course by the San Diego Waterpark in Chula Vista. I was nervous... after a few minutes of paperwork we selected our bikes, I chose a Honda Rebel 250 (I'm 5'3 & my feet touched the ground). The instructors started and I crazy as it was, I was quickly feeling ease because of their encouragement and patience!!! Saturday was full of riding in circles with them guiding and coaching as we approached, & passed them, yelling out instructions over the noise of the bikes, and pointing where to go and hearing them critique our riding in a really positive way was so reassuring & appreciated. Sunday was more riding and reminding us to turn our heads.... look forward and ahead of where you want to go and breaking, rolling on and off the throttle, it was a lot to learn in a short time and they still made it fun. I changed bikes just before testing because of a choke issue...and Kaia was so supportive and letting me know I was doing great on the new bike. Then ANXIETY before the test riding but it was all good and I wasn't nervous while doing the tests... nerves came after with questioning myself lol. After the riding test on Sunday & finding out I passed I was so excited I went home and started researching bikes. On Wednesday I called San Ysidro DMV & got a written test for that Friday and I went in and ROCKED IT!!! I attribute the confidence I had to pass this test to the TOP QUALITY instructors and their fun instruction. Then the following Saturday, July 3rd, I bought my Rebel from Del Amo in SD. I test rode a couple bikes and again the confidence came from the support of the quality instruction from Kenny and Kaia. THANK YOU gentlemen for your support and making it FUN and MEMORABLE for nervous students. You both ROCK I'll be back for the advanced courses, too. Attended on July 23rd - there were way too many people in spite of being spread into many groups. Instructors gave conflicting info - especially with regards to other riders not following instructions. Ended up crashing because one instructor kept giving instructions to correct me but the person in front of me was not going fast enough, causing an unsafe situation. The crash caused symptoms of a mild concussion I've been in physical therapy for neck and shoulder damage and I've had daily migraines as well as numbness in my and and legs. Their website says this class is for beginners. But let me tell you if you have never ridden a motorcycle and have never been around it, this class is not for you. This class is for people who need a DMV waiver and who know how to operate a motorcycle. Most of the students in my class had some experience driving motorcycles. I was in the minority of those who had 000 experience. The structure of the class is very intense and very overwhelming. Instructors move you from one step to the next step and then to the next. Not sure how it is possible to switch from one step to the next when you are not completely familiar with the first one. Honestly, I think 4 hours session on the first day is too much for a complete beginner. Coming here, I thought I would learn how to ride a motorcycle. My goal was not to pass or not to pass the test. Anyway, I ended up falling off a motorcycle 3 times within 3 hours, the motorcycle I rode was very heavy for my light and small frame. I decided to dropoff the class. Which means I threw my money away. My suggestion, if you are a complete beginner like me, take one-on-one classes somewhere else first where you can learn at your own pace versus trying to keep up with the group. read more

Whew! Where to start! I was referred to PSC by a fellow female motorcyclist last year. She's about 62 y/o and told me she took her safety course when she turned 50 y/o. This is why my intuition told me I should read the reviews & give PSC a shot. The MAJORITY of the reviews blew my mind. I wanted to treat myself to an early 40th bday gift & see if motorcycling is for me. I've been riding a Yamaha Vino 49cc for 3 years now. And the fastest that puppy will go is 37mph! LOL I was glad there was availability for the T, Sat, Sunday classes. Which fit perfect for my work schedule. Prior to me booking the class online- I did call the safety center to have my questions of concern answered. And the gal who helped me out was very friendly & straightforward. You'll receive an email after booking that suggests printing out the CMSP guidebook- which I really do recommend. Mind you- you have to take all classes in consecutive order. And w/ this being said- classroom instruction is a bit fast paced- and jotting notes, highlighting, looking up at the projector screen & being involved in classroom discussion goes quick. During the first day of classroom- there's a mini handbook you'll receive- w/ a VERY broken down version of what's in the actual PSC/ CPSM guidebook. Remember- all of this knowledge you're learning will be part of the final written test before you head of to your last portion of the range (driving course). Marcus was our instructor for the first classroom session. He's had 200k miles experience riding! Amazeballs! And Evie was our last classroom instructor. The classroom building has vending machines, gender neutral bathrooms, complimentary coffee & water. Our range instructors for the first day were Brent & Kaz. Last day of range- Kaz & Keilley. I wanna say in my riding group there were 12 of us- and during some of the riding sessions- groups were split in 2 to help w/ minimizing traffic on the course as well as giving more undivided attention to students. Another great thing that I loved about the range sessions is that- regardless of what we were learning & exactly where the instructors were standing on the range- EACH & EVERY you drove past them- they ALWAYs had some tid bit of information to improve your riding capabilities! You will be getting your monies worth, guys! The $258 spent on all of this instruction will benefit you! I would rather pay this price than buy a bike first & come to the realization that motorcycling isn't for me! When you're out there on the range- if you've got any questions about a riding practice- raise your hand! The instructors will be more than happy to go over it w/ you! I've done that a few times! They even stress on this! Instructors would rather have students approach them w/ questions than not do so! That's why they are there! It does get breezy down there by the marina- and that's why on their website & in classroom- they mention bringing long sleeves. There is one porta potty at the range. And shaded areas to sit down at during breaks. I'm happy to say that I did pass both the written & riding tests. But, I would love to go back & take the intermediate class offered too! I just finished the beginners motorcycle safety course today and overall, I'd say it was excellent. There were some hiccups, like being told ahead of time they'd have a scooter available for me but they didn't (oops, it hadn't been used for several months and wouldn't start up. Sorry!). I've only ridden a scooter for the last year on a learner's permit and was worried about using a bike with a clutch but I picked it up quickly since I can drive a manual car and actually had a lot of fun on the bike. But had I not had prior clutch experience, this class might have been a disaster for me. I would recommend for scooter drivers to bring your own scooter to class for the training if that is the only experience you have and the only training you want. Our instructors were awesome! We had Kevin and Kaz for the course instruction and Nate for the classroom training. All were knowledgeable, helpful and patient. I didn't own a pair of jeans (really!), boots or riding gloves and had to buy them for the class but I'm REALLY glad they require them because they saved me from injuries when I fell. I face-planted and went down hard on my knees and hands before my chin guard hit the ground hard. My face and hands were uninjured thanks to the full-face helmet and riding gloves and I'm sure I would have more than just sore knees without those jeans. So the takeaway is to not resent or question the required riding gear. Your gear is your only protection in a crash. The only complaint I have is that your group is only as fast as the weakest link. We had a guy in class who had no business being on a tricycle, let alone a motorcycle (and he chose to ride the Harley HA!). We were constantly held up by him, all the bike drops, stalls, slow range driving and out-and-out refusing to follow directions. He even almost hit Kevin with his bike during the training (thank goodness Kevin jumped out of the way quickly!). Everyone else had a difficult time reaching the recommended speed and gears because he bottlenecked the entire group. Because of how that impacted all the riders, it would be better to split the class between totally inexperienced riders who are slow and need a lot more riding time before they tackle skills and riders who need a knowledge and skill base to be safe but already feel comfortable on a bike. With that being said, it isn't required but it's extremely helpful if you do have riding experience before taking this class! Even if you just go to an empty parking lot and learn your equipment, practice learning how to start the bike, practice the clutch and just generally learn how to feel comfortable on the bike. Then take the class to learn your skills. I believe those who came to class with zero riding experience didn't pass. Also, believe them when they say they will drop you if you're late for any classes (online or in person). There are people from previous classes standing there waiting to take a late-comers spot and they do give your space away. They're strict but they need to be for the sake of the whole class because there's A LOT of material to cover with limited time and none of us had to be frustrated standing around waiting on late comers. One more thing: Thank you to Kerri for your excellent, FAST and professional communication in the office. She emails back immediately and is so helpful! I give this class 5 stars because I learned a ton and feel a lot more confident in my riding skills. I can't wait to put them to use out on the road in real situations. read more

Don't hesitate, take this class. I definitely learned a lot. Charlie is an amazing instructor. She quickly spotted several habits I needed to change in my riding. Be sure you have some experience. Come early and practice on the motorcycle provided so you can get used to it. Other riders brought their own bikes. For the lollipops test, don't use your throttle or front brake. Just use your clutch and rear brake.....ride/drag the rear brake the entire time or most of the time...turn your head and look further ahead in the curve instead of your front tire. You'll learn more here, and faster, than from watching YouTube videos, which are still very useful. Lots of helpful information backed by studies are provided. I'm now more comfortable in taking corners (at normal speeds), braking, and doing a swerve in an emergency. read more

I have been riding for many years, mostly in the desert and on a dirtbike. I came into the course with an open mind and actually learned some good skills. Turns out I had some bad habbits. Andrea and Lawrence were the two who were teaching the riding portion of my class. They are both so kind and such great instructors. Lawrence brings a tad bit of goofy fun where Andrea is more serious but still very chill, fun and encouraging. They are both very positive and have this awesome way of humbling you with edjucation versus putting you down or chipping away at you. There were some very very very green riders in the class and they did such a great job with them. You could actually see the riders improvement the next class session. That alone was worth 5 starts. They were both really great and I have even thought about taking some advanced classes as long as they were the instructors. Give them both a raise they are worth it. read more

So a week ago I signed up for the 1 day safety class so I could skip the dmv lollipop ,little did I know that after reviewing the purchase of class I come to find out that it's one of the first test you must take to begin the class . Ugh really . So the whole week it was bothering me . So I texted program and asked if I could use of their bikes . Yes u can . So I went there with a higher than average stress level . The lollipop really . Wow was I wrong . If u came early u got to practice. Well I set alarm to get there early . I got to practice. And with the help of the knowledge and critiquing of instructor I passed . When I say I was stressed . I was stressed. I can't say all the instructors are great because so far ive only had one so far. But if they are like Charli then u have nothing to worry about . If u know how to ride a bicycle and can keep balance then your in great hands. Oh and I say soo far . Because I heard there is another class after this one that sharpens your motorcycle skills. Gonna look into that . Oh did I mention it was on sat when there was a big storm . Really . We are having a motorcycle safety class in the rain? Rain or shine class goes on . I'm soo glad I stuck with class. I've gained more knowledge of how and what to do in and out of the rain with princess. (That's my bikes name). Well all bikes period. I recently completed the Motorcyclist Training Course through Pacific Safety Center, and I must say, the course is well worth it. Overall my experience was nothing short of fantastic. Being a beginner rider, learning new skills from people that have been riding for years was something I feel every rider should take the chance and do. The staff was awesome. Each member was down to earth, extremely knowledgeable, and took the time to really help everyone in the class to the best of their abilities. Such as taking extra time to go over maneuvers for those who didn't understand, letting riders know what they need to do to improve, as well as making the class fun! I am honestly happy to have taken this course, and definitely looking into taking more courses further down the road to really hone in all the skills I learned, as well as picking up new skills along the way. The instructor was thankfully patient and read and explained each lesson in detail. As a beginner, with NO experience this is a FAST paced course. You either pick it up or get left behind. On this day 10/15/20 it was HOT. Wearing the advised clothing made it unbearable. Went through most of the lessons but was not able to complete lesson 11 as I got sick from the HEAT. I was light headed and felt I was going to pass out!! I also had a issue with shifting gears. Too bad I was not allowed to wear regular boot type canvas shoe like the other young lady in the class. I believe shifting would have been easier. If you a QUICK learner go for it. read more

PSC hosts a great training environment to learn how to ride a motorcycle in compliance with California laws. Listen to the instructors, they know more than you do about motorcycle safety. Really grateful for Elisabeth creating a cohesive Zoom classroom environment for the range days with Charli, Christie, and Mary. All four of these instructors have A LOT of experience and kept my group safe the entirety of training. The SW college location in Chula Vista has a really smooth range to learn to ride on. This course is a group learning environment but the instructors try to engage with everyone individually as much as possible. PSC provided a helmet and motorcycle for both range days. Always bring protection. Glad I picked a bike better suited for my height and weight. Check your bike and your PPE/gear before riding for your own sake. Get adequate rest, hydrate, and bring snacks on the range days, it helped me stay focused and pass the course. I have a lot more to learn but this CMSP course was a great place for diverse novice riders and motorcycle enthusiasts alike. Thanks ladies and to all the folks at PSC. read more

Took the Basic Riders Course at PSC. This course had classroom time and riding time. They provide the bikes, helmets, gloves and boots. The course has two tests, the written and the driving test. The written test WILL NOT count as your DMV written test. The classroom time was very informative. Take notes because the lessons learned in the power point are almost like the questions on the test. The driving portion is very hands on and they make it very easy for a new rider especially if they have never rode before. They take you step by step on how operate the motorcycle. All instructors are very knowledgeable about all the motorcycles you will be riding on. They consistently preach safety and are willing to take the extra time to go over things you may not understand. I fully recommend this course and will be going back later for additional follow on training. read more

TAKE THE MOTORCYCLE CLASS WITH A DIFFERENT ORGANIZATION. I completed the classroom portion and when I showed up to the riding portion of the class, the "mechanic was out sick all week" and therefore, the instructors were a bike short. They said to call the office to hash it out with them. I was sent home unable to finish the course. When I called the office, neither phone number worked (busy signal consistently) and when they finally responded via email, the office personnel offered a "free" reschedule...I told them a discount for the course was due for the negligence on their part for having a student show up to class without provided, guaranteed course materials (motorcycle) as part of the contract. They offered 10% off which I told them was "laughable." I explained that if I showed up with improper clothing, for example, I would be sent home and forced to pay a ~$70 reschedule fee. 10% of the course cost is half the cost of the reschedule fee, so they hold their paying students to a standard they can't meet. Total lack of customer service, poor communication, and I will say I'm not the only student in the motorcycle course who was unhappy, but they can speak (or not) for themselves. Still waiting on a refund over a week later. There are other CMSP courses, so I'd highly recommend attending another course. PSC is total trash customer service, a dying breed of an old-world business model. read more

I just completed the motorcycle safety course with Travis, Marcus, Kaz and Alex. All of the instructors were awesome, well-spoken, efficient and most of all funny (looking at you Kaz and Travis). All in all, I'd say it was worth it. Everyone in the class had fun, learned new things, and came out as better, smarter riders. Disclaimer: I came in with prior experience riding super sports on the street with an "imaginary" M1 endorsement so I'd recommend getting some practice time on a bike before the actual range sessions if possible! I had a horrible experience on day two with the two male instructors. On 6/28/23 I attended the PSC motorcycle course as a first time rider at Southwestern College in SD. On day one all we got was instructors yelling and screaming at the students and constantly telling a class of 30 plus people that we were running out of daylight and we were so behind and I can truly say walked away with some knowledge and confidence. If you're attending as a first time rider you are anxious and it doesn't make it any better getting constantly yelled at especially if you are paying $400 to take a safety course. 1. The class has way too many people for 2 instructors that are over worked and have very little patience. I don't blame them working in the summer sun for 10 plus hours. 2. It's really challenging to hear the instructions across a giant parking lot with motorcycle engine going. 3. YOU ARE SUPER RUSHED TO GET THROUGH THE EXERCISES. THEY GIVE YOU TWO CHANCES IF YOU DON'T GET IT ON THE SECOND TRY THEY ARE MOVING ON TO MORE ADVANCED EXERCISES! On day two 06/29/23 we had completely two different instructors can't recall their names one with dreadlocks and the other short Hispanic guy with facial hair. They started out all cool and nice than by halfway through the class they were becoming more frustrated with the students. On one of the speeding and swerving exercises I was on a Honda Grom where I had a fall and broke my thumb two days later had to have surgery. The peg broke on the motorcycle at the moment I sucked it up and was given a completely a different motorcycle with super responsive throttle that every time I would open the throttle it would jump. I asked if I could use one of the other Groms to take the riding exam part and they both stated no they didn't have time for me to wait for one of the other riders that was 10 people ahead of me to use the other Grom for my riding exam. That automatically made me feel like oh well you already failed the course it's up to you if you want to hangout so we can tell you that sorry you have no other choice but to pack up and leave. I made an incident report of my fall I was told someone would follow up with me regards to retaking the riding day two portion of it for $60 to $100 fee but no one ever called me or emailed. I followed up I was given the run around by some lady over the phone. Overall experience was bad I took another course with a different organization where we had 3 instructors for 9 people and successfully passed and walked away with a lot knowledge and how to be a safe rider. PSC JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY AND I TRULY THINK THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE LEARNING OR NOT THEY JUST PUSH YOU TO THE NEXT EXERCISE SO THEY CAN CLAM THAT THEY HAVE COVERED THE COURSE MATERIAL AND THEY DON'T HAVE TIME TO REVIEW OR GIVE YOU POINTERS. I would do some research before paying these people $450 for a rushed two day course with two burnt out instructors with very little patience for 30 plus students. read more
