All funds raised at our events benefit Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. There, physicians & scientists work on groundbreaking research programs to eradicate all forms of cancer. With other 50 chapters in Dade, Broward & Palm Beach counties, over $110,000,000 has been raised. This charity is named after Dr. George Papanicolaou, who diagnosed the Pap smear to detect cervical cancer. In 1961, Dr. Papanicolaou was invited to Miami to lead & develop the Institute which was renamed the Papanicolaou Cancer Research Institute. The cancer activists formally became The Papanicolaou Women's Corps, now known as The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research. When Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center opened at the University of Miami Medical School in 1992, the Papanicolaou Laboratories were already located at the medical school campus. Throughout all of the growth, The Pap Corps has been raising funds for all types of cancer research. The Pap Corp has a menu of events all over SE Florida. From speakers, breakfasts, luncheons, card parties, casino nights, cruises, shows, movies, raffles, sales ... there is something that should appeal to everyone. Boca Helping Hands is a non profit founded in 1998 as a small local soup kitchen in Boca Raton when…read morea group of volunteers came together to address hunger and poverty in the community. Originally known as the Soup Kitchen Planning Group, it started serving hot lunches and distributing grocery bags three days a week. Over the years, Boca Helping Hands expanded its mission beyond food assistance by adding programs focused on employment, financial assistance, education, and other essential needs. The organization continued to grow through Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and the Great Recession in 2008, when demand for assistance increased dramatically. Today, Boca Helping Hands provides millions of meals each year and offers programs such as the KidsPack Weekend Meals Program, financial assistance, and workforce development. I recently learned about Boca Helping Hands from a friend. I am between paychecks for a few weeks from my summer job as I transition to back to school. This ended up being a great help to stretch my grocery budget. The food distribution program is primarily staffed by volunteers, and it is easy to register to receive groceries twice a month. You receive a card that can be shown at the drive through pickup. When I visited, many of the volunteers appeared to be local high school students getting volunteer hours. You don't even have to get out of your vehicle. They put the food in your trunk or back seat. Food distribution centers such as Boca Helping Hands often receive surplus food from major retailers and other donors like Publix, Walmart, and Whole Foods. Providing this food to people who can use it has the added benefit of reducing food waste. I received a generous assortment of meat, dairy products, and pantry items, more than enough to prepare several meals throughout the week, along with snacks. This was a great experience. According to Boca Helping Hands, its impact since 2025 includes 57,943 volunteer hours, 3,548,846 total pantry and hot meals, and 288,546 services provided through its programs. Its Workforce Development program has also helped people obtain 54 new jobs. I was happy to learn more about them and their mission today. They are a great example of the good that can be done when a community comes together.

There were several times when he would see me outside of the apartment and not say anything and wait until I went inside to come over not going to door and chastise me about to other ladies that was in the room. The two ladies had conflict work together and that conflict with men he felt as is even though the woman was caught he decided to say maybe I did it it was a race issue for him. I didn't got my housing letter and did not know that until my counselor found my letter ripped up on Mr. Gaston desk signed by him saying that he received the approval letter for my housing. However too much time had went by based on when it was received and I lost my house before I leave get a house. He was reported to hire authority by my counselor. Now that I currently am any of a safe place to go again I gave them a call and they told me that I no longer able to come to bed for sale because of what transpired between Mr Gaston and myself.

In 2001 Andy began the Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF), a charity dedicated to "Serving Children Today for Tomorrow." The goal of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all children based on the principles of respect for family, education and morality. In the 1920's, during Florida's land boom years, women's clubs were formed as a way to give back to…read morethe community with civic projects. They became an outlet for women to get out of the house and to assert their independence by allowing them to get involved in politics during a time when they were expected to be homemakers. Women's clubs helped to launch the women's rights movement. The Pompano Beach Women's Club was organized in 1910 and was incorporated in 1921. They reorganized in 1947 and became Federated State and General in 1949. On January 25, 1966 the ground was broke on the club building and and it was dedicated on June 12, 1966. For 100 years the Pompano Beach Women's Club has been serving the community. Their goal is "to be of service to others through friendship, opportunity to serve, fun, entertainment, citizenship in the community, personal growth and development. In addition to their service they are also a social club with card parties. I stopped by the Women's Club to attend the holiday bazaar with crafts, jewelry, and holiday items for sale. A yard sale benefiting the Pompano Beach Historical Society was also taking place across the street. On December the 3rd, the Women's club will be hosting a sock hop and toy drive. Admission is $10 and an unwrapped toy.
