Thankfully I have no major health problems so I dont have cause to visit very often, but when I have done all the staff, from receptionists to doctors have been pleasant and professional. I just hope they will move towards online appointment booking soon, as that would be brilliant!

It's…read morea purpose built building, with plenty of space in the waiting room, and the staff are efficient and helpful. They have open surgeries in the mornings - so if you're ill and don't have an appointment then you can just drop in. How long you have to wait will depend on how busy they are, but you will be able to see a doctor. Appointments are made for afternoon surgeries and visits to the nurse, and I've never had any problems getting an appointment - they don't make you wait for weeks. I have seen several of the doctors and nurses and they are all very professional, friendly and efficient. The surgery itself is always clean and pleasant. The Medical Centre has its own car park, and there are usually spaces available - but at busy times the car park can be full and local residents get very grumpy about cars parked in the street. However, there is a community car park about 2 mins walk away with plenty of space, so parking is never an issue.

The reception staff and secretaries are really helpful and friendly, and never make me feel like I am a nuisance. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The building is quite new and modern, and there are plenty of seats in the waiting room. The toilets are always clean and well stocked with toilet roll etc. Sometimes the doctors and nurses run a bit late with appointments etc but this is to be expected in a doctor's surgery! Repeat prescriptions seem to be done quickly and efficiently, and it is usally quite easy to get an appointment when I need one. At the moment there is an open surgery in the morning, but I understand that is to change in a few months, so I will watch with interest how easy it is to get an appointment once this happens! He was in lots of pain and something was clearly very wrong, yet the GP gave him a box of painkillers and told him to rest it for 2 weeks, because the specialists were really busy at this time of year, so there was no point referring him. The next day my fiancee went to A&E and saw a specialist that day, and had knee surgery 10 days later. I would never go back and see them.

Diagnosed shoulder injury over phone gave exercises. Pain increased, finally got an in person appointment and was checked by GP and medical student. Just a vague shoulder injury diagnosis. Send text to refer for telephone physio. Pain increased to a unbearable level 4 weeks later, booked phone appointment waited all day got called at 6pm. Basically told injuries take tim e and to try paracetamol (obviously already tried several options already) After getting upset gp decided to refer me to physio. After this call same dr text me to tell me to continue to treat my conjunctivitis. This was clearly not meant for me even though it had my name on. Saw physio today, muscle injury actually quite serious and could have been treated sooner if referal was made at first appointment. Also exercises GP gave were completely unsuitable for the injury I actually have. I now have a long recovery for an injury I've had 11 weeks, which could have been treated sooner if GP actually made a referal rather than fob me off with an exercise leaflet not suitable. I have now registered at Abingdon surgery that appear to be much more competent. AVOID!!!

I've been with the practice for 15 years and while the doctors are generally good (and the midwives based there are amazing!), the admin team, including the manager, seem hellbent on making patient lives as difficult as possible. I've had repeated problems with prescription requests for required daily medication that has reached comic proportions now. Current example: At four months pregnant, the practice could not supply a required daily medication that I take due to having had cancer as a young person. Rather than let me know that they had supply issues, I had to come into the practice a week later to discover this... and all other local pharmacies were having the same supply issues. It happened to coincide with the Queen's funeral weekend and in the end, I was without my medication for six days and feeling wretched and worried as a result. 111 doctors insisted that I ask for a three-month prescription of this medication in the future given that I have now had supply issues with this medication four times since Brexit. Marcham Road refuses to prescribe more than one month at a time despite this ongoing supply debacle and request of 111 doctors because it is 'their policy'. Funny enough, without me saying anything, a trainee midwife in Wantage asked where my GP practice was based and when I said 'Marcham Road', she literally shuttered and said, 'Ooh. They really aren't the nicest there, are they'? I laughed and told her that she made me feel so much better because it meant that it wasn't just me (which is obvious based on all the other reviews here anyway). Adding insult to injury, making an appointment here is often difficult and I just cannot understand how this practice even remotely functions. As my regular GP has retired, despite being in the middle of a pregnancy, I am now trying to switch practices as I can no longer stand the negativity and frequent problem-making attitude of the administration, pharmacy and reception teams (with the exception of Anita, who is truly lovely). There is just a constant dark cloud over this practice and I dread every time I have to interact with them. Shame--deep shame--on this practice. Truly.
