I signed up for the free 6 week challenge. You are required to put a large deposit down that you're suppose to get back if you complete the challenge and follow their plan. I completed the challenge and was pressured to sign up for a year membership. I declined to do so at the moment. And they declined to return my deposit. The classes were great. I consider them family. Each class is challenging yet fun and the coaches are with and pushing you to you beat each round. I had one trial class and signed up for a membership and I'm loving it! I'm so out of shape (haven't worked out in years) and usually dread any kind of exercise but this place is so FUN! Time flies by and I barely even notice that I'm working out. Instructors are great, love the fast paced workout music and it's very clean. I can't wait to keep going and see my results. Yes, they do push the membership but that's just their business. You can't expect to buy a 5 class pass for 20 dollars at a professional kickboxing studio and never even be asked about membership. The specials are supposed to attract new members, makes total sense to me. Absolutely do NOT give these scam artists your money! I signed up for a special they were offered where you paid almost 500 and got access to a "6 week challenge"- They stated when I signed up that the amount was at least partially refundable if certain perimeters were met, extenuating circumstances included. I soon found out that was an absolute LIE. After a couple of weeks (not even 4 classes in) the death of a loved one pulled me out of state for some time. I told the manager as much and asked I be refunded for the remainder of my time as I wouldn't be in town for the foreseeable future- his response was, "we have locations all around the country!" none of these other locations were within 100 miles of where I was, so he agreed to refund me but said he couldn't do it on his end, I would have to contact corporate. This was the beginning of the end. After countless calls to corporate numbers and back to him and MONTHS of getting the workaround I finally gave up on my refund, as I didn't feel my mental health could take any more stress about the situation. About six months after giving up I called to try one last time and was told that "too much time had passed for them to consider a refund" I mean, what?! This was some time ago so I don't know if it's still offered as a special but the way this situation was handled was just despicable and I can't say I'll ever get my money back. I know I'll never spend a penny more at any one of these spots and you really shouldn't either- take your business elsewhere! If you're looking for a way better spot, fair prices, awesome trainers- try Knuckle Up Boxing in Raleigh, they are a WORLD better! read more

I saw an ad on facebook about a "FREE" 6 week challenge & decided to sign up. ILKB was pretty adament about getting me in for a consultation & I agreed. Consultation: I walked in & was taken to a back room. When I got in there, Rich asked me about why this program was good for me & basically told me that if it wasn't something that I was serious about then, I should move out of the way for the next person. Mind you, I am very into physical fitness & that was my 1st red flag! Moving forward, he gives me 3 options for the "free" 6 weeks challenge. Option 1: $499 deposit & he said that I would get it back at the end of the class. This was just to hold my spot & to force me to stay committed. Option 2: $145/mo for 6 months + $97 enrollment fee Option 3: $125/mo for 12 months + $97 enrollment fee If you've ever trained, these prices are pretty reasonable. However, I don't agree with pressuring people into a membership when they advertise "Free" challenge & even the $499 is crossed out on the advertisement. That's just a tactic to lure you in. Trust me, you WILL feel pressured to get a membership & the $499 deposit is totally unreasonable for 6 weeks. I walked in wanting to do it & there was no need for the pressure b/c I wanted to do it, regardless. I, also, saw on the website that you have other options other than the membership but that was not mentioned. 1st Day of Class: I really enjoyed it. I had a lady who kinda worked with me 1 on 1. She was very nice and informative. It was kind of hard to hear her over the music & you have to have your mask on the entire time. If it wasn't for her, it would be extremely difficult to follow along with the leader of the class because of how loud the music is and how fast paced it is. If you're new to fitness, you will struggle to keep up. The class size was pretty small, maybe about 5 people (def expected more). I honestly feel like the program is designed to help those who are new to fitness and looking to lose weight. I never got my nutritional plan, but I think it's pretty general and not specific to you. My overall review: The program would probably work for you if you're just trying to get in shape, nothing more & nothing less. Be mindful that the 6 week challenge is NOT free and you will be pressured into a membership. The staff is pretty nice, but the guy who tries to get you into the membership is extremely overbearing ( I won't even go into detail) but, you will see. SN: FTC gives us 3 days, from the day that you sign, to get out of any contract that we have felt pressured into or just don't want to be in. If you go and don't like it, DO NOT GO BACK or you will be financially responsible. Don't get tricked into "just do it for a month" or "just give it another week" because I had read reviews where people's credit has gotten ruined over this & it is not that serious. Many gyms and trainers will train you for these same prices or cheaper, without a contract. Hope this helps someone :) Update: I did get refunded. However, We were contacted & asked to modify an honest review. I was completely neutral when making this review. I gave pros & I gave cons. I also gave why ILKB will not be something that I commit to. My opinion to say that they are overbearing when getting you into the membership still stands & its pretty overbearing to call someone and ask them to modify a review. Again, do not go here if you're looking for a "free" challenge or to just try it out, because you will only be given 3 options (listed above) & if that's not pressure then, idk what is. I was fast talked and tricked into a contract for membership when I only thought I signed up for the 6 week challenge offered on Facebook. I told the owner at the Raleigh location that I wasn't interested in continuing with a membership and he told me to just pay $100 for September and that would be it. Well he lied and kept charging my credit card for a monthly payment. Then after I put a stop to him charging my card he sent it in to the credit bureau as a collection to hurt my credit ..such a fuckin asshole liar. DON'T trust him, the Facebook ad is to lure you in and trick you into a membership with them. It's my fault for not getting it put in writing but karma is a BITCH as always and he will get his just deserves for this. After they get you in a 12 month contract they really don't teach you shit or make sure you are doing the kickboxing correctly. I hate I even signed up now ! Dishonest ppl there, BEWARE!!!!!! Bought this as a birthday gift for my girlfriend. She said the first class was awesome but she felt pressured to sign up for a membership. When she tried to redeem the 5 class package the instructor was rude and insulted her and told her that the classes will make no difference if she doesn't buy the membership... basically the introductory classes were a scam to get the membership. read more

I bought a black Friday deal via a friend who attends another ILKB location. Classes are an hour long and fast paced. Music is insanely loud; I could barely hear the instructor standing next to me. The workout is fine. What turned me off from the company completely was the blatant sales attitude -- my trainer's over the top enthusiastic demeanor dissolved in an *instant* when, after a few minutes of him trying to persuade me into a $125/month contract, I finally forced myself to say no to him. Thank goodness I did, because I later found out it can't be canceled. I'll definitely do kickboxing again... in a class at a regular gym. read more

I really do Love Kickboxing! I bought the Groupon with the intention of just trying out a couple of classes and I bought a membership after my first class. It is a fun workout in a class environment. I never feel self conscious because everyone is concentrating on their own work. No mirrors in the gym, so I can't compare myself to anyone. The staff is great! Always pushing us to do our best. They teach proper positioning and techniques to maximize the workout and reduce the risk of injury. If you're even slightly interested, go try a class, it's no risk. read more

I originally went to ILKB for a 3 class Groupon sale. I fell in love after my first day, and I've been a member ever since. It's an amazing work-out, and the coaches are extremely encouraging and supportive. If you stay consistent and stick to a healthy diet you'll see results fast. It's a great stress reliever as well. I bought 3 classes + boxing gloves for $9.99 (a great deal) and was really excited! The class itself was fun and a great workout and all the members spoke very highly of it, you could tell it was a family. Towards the end of the class, the instructor removed my friend and I from the class early to talk to us about membership. We didn't get to cool down with the rest of the class (which is SO important being a fitness professional myself) but rather we were GRILLED about a membership. When we said we were not interested in the expensive membership and would stick to our $10/month gym membership, we were asked "why not" and it was clear he would not take no for an answer. I felt very pressured and uncomfortable and did not go back for the remaining 2 classes I had purchased. I just felt very manipulated and pressured for something I didn't want to do. Overall: great class and great workout but only go if you're going to commit to the membership, not for a coupon you find. read more

I am a single mother, work and go to school at night there is no surprise that I am not able to go to the gym often. So when i go i like to build up a sweat. I enjoyed the first session where they worked with you one on one and explained to you the right position. After that initial class it is all on your own. If you get it great if not then try to keep up. It is very high paced and they do not explain to you the terms they use so you spend the class just looking at what others do. Then when it comes to trying to leave it is the worse. I didn't mind paying for two months due to the thought that I would have time to go but out of those two months i didn't even attend 5 classes which was the trial that I bought. When trying to cancel the owner acted direct and tried to sell me on another deal which I would obviously not be able to attend. They did not say anything and so i left it at that. Come to find out two months after that conversation I got a text saying that I owed for two months and if i wanted to cancel I had to pay around $197 plus the two months with a handwritten note. You should be ashamed of yourself. You pride yourself on customer service and that is the least i got. People pretty much pay for the "free" boxing gloves when trying to cancel. Complete waste of time and money should have read at the reviews before buying. read more
