The bathrooms were clean, and each campsite had a nice cover over the table. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. However, the hiking trails were really just walking trails and weren't that exciting. We were also woken up every morning at 5am because the duck hunters would unload near our site and walk down to the lake. If you did manage to fall asleep you were soon woken up to gunshots starting around 6:30 for hunting. The first night, right at dusk, we were attacked by some sort of nasty flying bug.. I think maybe industrial terminates because they came from the ground. It was terrorizing. But didn't happen the second night. And the Javelina's were really cool to see, but an absolute nightmare for our guardian dog. They do get close to the campsite, even if people are out, and our dog declared them as public enemy number one. So we were always on edge and looking for them before he caught wind of them. If you are looking for a chill spot to just hang and camp, I recommend. But if you are looking for more activities in a park, this honestly wasn't the place. The kids activities that were scheduled for the Saturday were cancelled, which was disappointing.

The drawback of this park is that there seems to be a long list of all the things you can't do at this park. They have signs everywhere reminding you how they want you to behave, and what all is prohibited. They're everywhere. It seems they just need to put up one sign and not nag the town town to death with all their park rules. But, perhaps all those rules make it such a park that's devoid of litter, traffic, and graffiti. It really was a pretty and well-kept park.

The park is basically a turn around next to the Nueces River, that goes around I-37. The park has been messed up for a while as they go and replace the bridge that goes over the Nueces. They're making it a higher bridge, and have the whole place torn up. There's no trees or any shade. The park offers a bunch of picnic tables that overlook the river. If you're a fisher, it'd be a good place to grill up some river catfish. There are no restrooms here. No running water. Dogs are welcome here. You can probably run them off a leash, as I hardly ever see anyone here. Just make sure they don't jump in the river.

People camp out here and all. This is the area where the famous Nueces River ends and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. It runs alongside the back part of the park. Passing by here you can see the number of people walking around and enjoying the sounds of the river as it makes its way over the final embankment and into the bay.

Further, I am a 100% Disabled Veteran with mobility issues. Your small pet that is decked out with a chest cover that says ADA is not classified as a Service Animal. Look it up on the ADA website and you will find a wealth of information on Service Animals. FYI: I am a Dog lover! Doberman or German Shorthaired are my favorite! Please research the laws before you go. Here is some general information I copied from a website; "Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Texas law, a service animal is defined as a dog (or in some cases, a miniature horse) individually trained to perform specific work or tasks directly related to a person's disability. Emotional support animals are not protected as service animals." When you see people at HEB or Walmart or any other business, with a small animal in their cart or being carried, you can pretty much bet that they are not covered by the ADA. Please take the time to read ADA Laws. One more thing. Any Business can "Trespass" you from their property for any reason. Once they do you must leave the premises.

It was just as beautiful as I remembered. This place truly lives up to its name. Paradise Canyon is privately owned, family-oriented, and offers something for everyone. There are shallow areas where kids can safely swim and play, as well as deeper sections for adults who want to swim or practice their strokes. The grounds are well maintained, the restrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can spend the entire day relaxing and making memories with your family. I would recommend Paradise Canyon again and again. It's a true Texas gem.
