No water for you to swim in. Don't make the drive out there. We made reservations and drove out to see there was no water what's worse is that we didn't stay and weren't given a refund but a credit for a year. I don't think they will have water within a year. Save your time & money go else where.

river with barely any water to swim in, can't even go fishing

very disappointed, when i got there everything seemed to be fine till driving up ahead when i saw that the river was dried up. It was very upsetting and i think they should update us on the water conditions or in the entrance at paradise canyon before paying or singing any paper work.

We continue exploring our new hometown and found this place through a Facebook ad. We called a week ahead of Memorial Day and pleased to find reservations were still available. We reserved table 449 and the location is ideal. It has a grill, is under a tree, and at the water's edge. We had a great time while there. The check-in process is painless and they also supply you with a trash bag for you area. There are plenty of people to guide you to your spot, and parking is right in front of your spot if you get there early enough. I didn't realize the voltage on my car wasn't high enough to work the air compressor, but was pleasantly surprised to find they had air on site to fill our 3 floats. The day was fantastic we really did enjoy ourselves as a family of 4. The only reason it's not 5 stars is they don't allow music. It's a bummer because I love music and it's part of the fun at the beach, river, or lake. I'm not sure why they don't allow music, maybe consider no music with profanity, or no music over a certain volume. It was the only thing missing from the day.

Very pretty and about 30 minutes away from Alamo Ranch. The water is freezing like Frio River. Half of the area is family friendly to little ones (like beach access) and the end of the river near the dam is deep with rough slimey boulders (not recommended for elderly or toddlers) the boulders were super slippery and you need to climb down on steep rocks. The tables are located at the top, so it wasn't a great idea to keep climbing in and out to get snacks. We arrived around noon on Wednesday and the place was almost full, so we ended up near the dam (towards the back) . It was hard walking on the slippery rocks while trying to balance with a toddler (that's with us wearing water shoes). My sister used the restrooms, she said they were clean but no AC. There's also portable potties if you don't want to drive to the restrooms ( 2 locations). The cost is a bit steep compared to others. $40 a carload of only 5 people, hours 10am to 6pm. Took pictures before we left at 5pm, the majority left around 4pm (very cloudy and windy, looked like it was going to rain).

Cool waters to swim in with shaded picnic tables nearby. But also has those secluded areas where you hear nothing but moving water and nature, perfect for immersing your body in the river and waiting for the sun to set.

Let's start off with the staff. Anna(the owners Daughter) greeted us the moment that we pulled up immediately offering help with EVERYTHING. Moments later Miss Laura came up to introduce herself also offering help with anything we needed. She took us on a little tour and showed us where everything was for the pavilion we were decorating. I promise you, the pictures do not do justice to how gorgeous this place is. No wedding is without fault and as a coordinator we run into our fair share of bumps in the road. As each bump showed, Miss Laura, Anna, and staff were there to make everything run easier for us. Soon before the ceremony was to begin Red, Miss Laura's husband, came and introduced himself. I already knew who he was as Miss Laura informed me that he was the go-to guy for anything technical. There ended up being more guests than there was seating for and Red came in to the rescue. He made sure we got all the extra tables set up and all the chairs needed. The entire staff came through with help the entire night. The Wedding was absolutely perfect and the wedding party couldn't have been happier. Anna and Mason helped at the end of the night getting everything cleared up before the wedding party went off to bed. I can say that this was the best venue management that i have ever experienced. These people made you feel like family. The venue itself was gorgeous. Very big with lots of space. Well kept and very clean. The restrooms are very spacious and clean. They had dressing rooms and plenty of space to move around. The cabin the wedding party stayed in was huge and gorgeously decorated, full kitchen, multiple bathrooms. This is a great spot with an amazing view. I highly recommend these campgrounds not only as a wedding destination but as a family destination.

The best place ever! I love the fact no music , no pets , and no glass bottles allowed. It is only you and nature. You can go canoeing, hiking, swimming, tent overnight, tubbing, sun bath, take gorgeous pictures, fishing.... and so much more. We stayed for 2 nights 3 days and I didn't want to leave. Owners are so friendly and ready to help with whatever you want to do. If you don't want to stay overnight, at least come for a day and take a deep breath of the nature God created. Cell phone coverage might not be available and it can be a plus to unplug from online world. Can't wait to go back.

Beautiful place to relax and camp. Be prepared to not have any phone service and no WiFi for customers. They have new and old showers. The new ones have you have to pay. Outside old ones you don't have too.

A few friends and I were looking for a nearby lake where we could fish, take our pets and do a cookout. After some research and reading a lot of reviews on Yelp and other websites, we decided to visit Medina Lake. I noticed a few people mentioned it was "closed", but I believe that is why because they were trying to enter the lake through the south entrance of the lake which is managed by homeowners. Here are my recommendations for everyone visiting the lake: - This lake is first come first serve. I highly recommend getting early so you can grab a nice spot near the water. - There is NO shade whatsoever, so I highly recommend everyone to bring a tent (or two) so you can comfortably enjoying your time there. - The water was super clear and shallow, so it's perfect for children and pets. Make sure to bring your swimsuit and cool off at the lake. - There are a few grills near the bathroom area, but if you have a portable grill just bring it. - Fishing was not the best at this lake. I think Lake Medina is more of a chill and enjoy the water kinda lake. One of my friends was really looking forward doing some fishing, but he was kinda disappointed. Overall I think this lake is a nice (and affordable) option to do something out of the city.

From this spot, you can end your short paddle trip from Guadalupe State Park, or start a longer 3-6 hour trip down to FM 311 or Rebecca Creek Crossing. This small day-use park under an overpass off Old Spring Branch Road has just 20 parking spaces, so depending on when you go, you may need to arrange a drop-off or pickup via friend or river outfitter that doesn't leave a vehicle. There is a dumpster for trash and a couple of porto-johns if you really need to answer nature's call. The signage at the entrance is a bit confusing on when and how you need to pay a fee, the proceeds of which are used to maintain the park. The clear facts are that it's free when there is no attendant on duty. Otherwise (generally weekends & holidays from Memorial Day to Labor Day, basically summer months from end of May through early September), you pay a fee upon entry based as follows: If parking... $4 per person over age 12 $2 per person age 12 and under If not parking... $1 per person drop-off (any age) Open 9am to sunset, year-round (gates locked at 8:30pm) If you are putting in or taking out, there is a cul de sac where you can park briefly to deal with loading and unloading your 'yaks. The water is less than 50 yards down a couple of pebbly paths. On our recent sunny January Sunday visit, there were very few other vessels on the river and less than 10 people in the park. So peaceful. The Water Oriented Recreation District (WORD) of Comal County manages the park and their website is a great source of information on current river conditions, river laws, and any special events that could impact your day on the river. The Texas Parks & Wildlife "Texas Paddling Trail" page also has great info about Nichol's Landing and what you'll see on the river. For the upper part of the Guadalupe and the lower outside of New Braunfels city limits, the rules (enforced with fines up to $500) are: Wear a life vest or other PFD Don't trespass on private property Pets on leash at all times No firearms No fireworks No campfires No camping No glass No styrofoam No plastic containers under 5oz No littering No jumping from bridges, dams, trees, or cliffs

This spot charges for access to the river, I paid $4 to get in. They seem to have various other charges that can apply if you're just launching a kayak or a tube. The river was clean here! There wasn't trash floating around, and the place was picked up. The water wasn't very deep here, the deepest spots being chest deep, but most of it was about knee deep. Someone has come through here and made lots of little wading pools out of rocks and set up stone dams so your tube doesn't go floating away very easily. There's also lots of shade through here, with many large cypress trees lining the far side of the river. On the near side, there aren't many trees, so many people brought their own canopies. Since there's a charge to get in, this place wasn't so crowded, so it was easy to get a patch of river to myself. There are trash cans provided, and they also give away mesh onion bags for your garbage. There are no restrooms, or changing rooms. Parking was easy, along a paved road and spaces painted in white. The end of the parking lot doubles as a helicopter landing pad for added safety.

Nestled along about a mile stretch of the Blanco River, this relatively small park delivers big on charm, making it perfect for a day trip or a quiet weekend outdoors. One of the standout features of the park is the low-water dam and walkway, which creates calm pools on one side and gentle flowing water on the other. Walking across it gives you beautiful panoramic views of the river, just like in your photos--calm water, limestone edges, and plenty of space to take it all in. The setting feels very serene, especially with the surrounding trees and open sky. The river itself is the heart of the park. Whether you're swimming, fishing, or just sitting by the water, it's a relaxing experience. The water is usually calm and shallow in areas, making it great for families, while deeper sections are perfect for swimming or paddling. Wildlife is another highlight--you'll often spot birds, turtles, and even ducks or geese hanging around the shoreline, adding to the natural vibe. The mix of cypress trees, limestone banks, and clear water really gives it that classic Hill Country feel. Beyond the water, the park has easy walking trails and shaded paths, ideal for a casual hike. These aren't intense hikes, but they're perfect for a laid-back stroll through nature. Picnic areas and campsites are scattered throughout, making it easy to spend a full day here or even stay overnight. Blanco State Park is not the biggest or most dramatic park in Texas, but that's exactly its appeal. It's calm, scenic, and easy to enjoy--perfect for relaxing by the water, taking photos, or just disconnecting for a while. If you're looking for a peaceful outdoor spot with beautiful river views and a laid-back atmosphere, this park definitely delivers.
