Tony has a way of capturing moments at THE perfect time. I had the privilege of having both Tony and Olya shoot my engagement and wedding photos. Wherever we were going, I could see Tony eyeing every alley and any area for potential photo ops. While Olya focused on the little details that meant a lot to me, she was mindful in keeping me warm and also taking breaks in between. It takes a while for my husband to get comfortable with strangers, let alone someone that's pointing a camera at you. At our engagement shoot, he was nervously giggling through it all and you'd never know it! They're both so easy going that throughout the shoot it just got easier and easier. I have had great experiences and miserable experiences with vendors. Tony + Olya go in the category of FANTASTIC!! they are easy going and made me feel comfortable. As someone who hates her picture being taken, they reassured me that I would barely know that my picture is being taken. Very true!! We are exceedingly pleased with our engagement pictures and the sneak peak we have gotten thus far, and I have no doubt that the rest of our pictures will be amazing! They were very flexible with scheduling and took into consideration what we wanted as a couple. Our day was a bit misty and it had rained the night before, so we didn't want to get all wet from the grass during our first look pictures, so Tony + Olya went and scoped out a new location that was not in the grass. I loved it more than the original spot. In terms of picture turn around, I was eager, so I was probably a pain in the neck, but it's barely 5 months past our wedding and we will have the rest of our pictures! So exciting! I discovered Tony through my cousin who hired him as both an engagement and wedding photographer. Out of all the vendors I used for my wedding, he is definitely on the top of the list to recommend to others. As photography hobbyists, my husband and I were very picky about our photographers. I have worked several times with Olya and Tony for important events in my life. The last was a maternity photoshoot where, on the way to the location, I prego-brained it up and had forgotten my outfit having to turn around to get it which set us back on schedule significantly. Tony took our engagement pictures as well as our NYC city hall wedding in Nov 2008. Dingy old city hall was transformed into a stylish backdrop thanks to Tony! Our engagement photos were even more amazing on an overcast day in DUMBO. If we could afford it, we would have flown him to Asia for the 2nd part of our wedding. He is professional, personable, easy to work with and most of all, he has a great eye. I highly recommend him and would hire him again in a blink..sigh.. maybe he will take our family portraits?? Tony has talent, but NOT as a wedding photographer. In all fairness, he does say he is not a traditional photographer, which I didn't want anyway. I love photojournalism. But even taking this into consideration, we were very disappointed. 1.The pictures taken outside were beautiful. You will find that most of the wedding pictures that he puts on his site are outdoor shots - not a coincidence. The pictures taken with little natural light were awful. He does not demonstrate knowledge about how to manipulate light indoors. Even the outdoor shots taken at dusk were not good quality. Because my reception was indoors, with lots of dark wood, the majority of the shots were not good. 2. Even photojournalists appreciate a subject in their pictures. There should be an artistic element even to candid shots. The pictures I got were certainly candid, but seemed to be shots anyone could have taken - nothing artistic about them. 3.I know it's all about the bride and groom, but the only pics we got were of us!! There were little to no pics of our friends and family (even after I expressed how important they all were to me). Out of the near 800 photos, my husband's siblings were in a total of 4 of them. My friends were nowhere to be found. I am not a traditional bride and chose not to have a bridal party. I didn't realize this would mean no one else would be in them. If you do go with him, be sure to give him explicit instructions about who you want him to shoot. 4.When we wanted to enlarge the pics, we found difficultly getting them to fit nicely as 8x10s. Even the photos that were my favorites we could not use in large frames without cutting off important pieces of them. I have no large photo on my wall of us on our big day. I would never give a bad review unless I felt it was necessary. Truly, I feel bad writing this, but it's just not a good idea to choose him. You cannot afford to be disappointed with this - it's truly heartbreaking not to have these memories saved. read more
