We struck wedding-photographer-gold with Jashim, no question! Super talented, has a great eye for interesting, creative (but not overly artsy) shots. Our wedding pictures are fantastic! A combo of non-cheesy poses, fun candids + simple décor shots. With the posed shots, it took a while to trust Jash's directions (2 one-hour pre-wedding sessions actually!). Poses felt awkward. But he knows what he's doing; the pictures came back looking natural. Without those sessions to allow us to get used to the camera, the wedding day would've been a lot less comfortable. The day-of, Jashim arrived + went straight to work. Other than the few times he purposely pulled us aside to get specific shots, he went unnoticed. We went about our evening; he captured it all without getting in the way. His turnaround is fast. He had a few teaser pictures on his blog within 2 weeks, the balance online 2 weeks later. His prices are very fair + competitive. He made himself available, easily reachable to answer questions, bounce ideas off of, etc... Didn't show any impatience/frustration (even though I was a very needy bride!). Having first obsessed over Jash's blog and now our pictures, I can tell that in addition to his style and to some degree his personality, he also reflects the couple's personality in each pic very well. He doesn't take cookie-cutter pictures, and while there is definitely a common Jashim thread, they are all very different from each other. I know ours represent us and our wedding perfectly. The one thing I would maybe complain about now (if this even is a complaint) is that the pictures are so great, I can't get enough of them and I want more, more, more!!! Couldn't be happier with Jashim. We had high expectations; with no videographer, it was crucial that the photos come back PERFECT! He didn't just meet them; he exceeded them by far. This post comes a little late but nonetheless I wanted to make sure I spread the word about how amazing it was to work with Jashim. We were fortunate to have been selected as part of a trial run in his family documentary section, and I will say that this guy definitely knows what he's doing and has not only an eye for quality but a passion for photography that's clear in each image he captures! Jashim spent a long long day with us as a family, and that's not always easy for someone who isn't use to being around children. Immediately he took the time to connect with my kids, ages 4 and 7, and took the time to make them comfortable and put them at ease as he cautiously took snaps of them both candid and posed. He was able to capture our family dynamics, and when we looked back at the images, we were so happy with them. They were outside and beyond the typical posed family portraits, the pictures had life and a story behind it, and I can't thank Jashim enough for his hard work and efforts behind it. If you're ever in the lookout for a photographer who not only is looking to take a few pics, but wants to give you a personal experience, definitely recommend Jashim. As we began our wedding planning process, we always knew we needed the right photographer. Your wedding photographer is definitely one of the most important vendors for the wedding. They are the only one that can capture the memories that you get to look back on for years and years. We reached out to several photographers throughout our initial planning process, Jashim being one of them. I had browsed Jashim's website and social media platforms, and from that I knew he had the vision we were looking for. Just to confirm, I arranged for us to have an initial conversation to hear about his work and experience. Jashim and I talked for several hours on the phone. We went through all my ideas and visions for the wedding day. It felt like I was talking to a friend from the start. He not only listened to what I had to say, but he was able to provide professional recommendations. He even went above and beyond to give advice on other parts of the wedding planning process which was so kind as we had not even finalized choosing him as our photographer at the time! After that initial conversation with Jashim on the phone, I called my fiancé at the time and told him I knew Jashim was the perfect fit for us. The weekend of our wedding, he was hands down our favorite vendor. He was able to take our vision and execute it beautifully. Throughout the whole weekend, he worked extremely well with our family, friends, and vendors. He was constantly checking in on us and made us feel at ease. We were extremely happy as to how he managed the whole wedding process with us. He has definitely transitioned from our photographer to a good friend of ours. If I had to plan my wedding over again, I without a doubt would choose Jashim. He has the perfect mix of being professional as well as being that friend you can depend on. Jashim was extremely unprofessional through the initial process of scheduling him for our wedding. He treated us like another business opportunity and provided very poor customer service. After sending the contract, he informed us we only had 12 hours to review and sign before it expired. After following up with several questions pertaining to the contract and receiving no response, we finally heard back a week later that he moved forward with another couple after already verbally committing to us. We didn't receive so much as a heads up that he was in talks with other couples about our date. Just a short and canned email that he committed to another couple that was ready to sign on the spot and that he was no longer available for our wedding. This has really set us back in our wedding planning process and has caused unnecessary stress and anxiety during what should be a very special time for me and my fiancé. Highly recommend to go with someone else who cares about your needs, wants and concerns and is willing to go the extra distance to make you feel special - things that should be the bare minimum from a wedding photographer which Jashim was not able to provide. read more

This will be a bit of a strange review as I have actually never truly worked with Jashim. What I will say is in the midst of my chaotic wedding planning, I contacted Jashim to see if he was available to shoot my wedding. While he wasn't available, he made sure to recommend other photographers who I should seek out. Additionally, he said he was available to answer any questions my fiancé & I had. When we asked him for his advice on how to go about choosing a photographer, Jashim took the time to respond with a lengthy paragraph, explaining his thought process & how important it is to trust the opposite party prior to moving forward, otherwise not book them at all. I think one of the most important realizations I've come to during all this wedding planning is that you want to be surrounded by people who will support you on your big day (or days as in the Indian culture). Unfortunately, I've spoken with many different vendors & come across more attitudes than I would have liked. Having someone willing to help us in the process is only confirming Jashim's supportive and helpful personality. He was professional, kind, patient, thorough, honest when he had no need to be. If you're considering Jashim for your wedding (or other occasion) definitely do it! He just photographed my wedding this past weekend- so I didn't get the photos back yet but will update as soon as I do- he was a pleasure to have around on a hectic special day. Even my guests complimented Jashim to me telling me how kind he was to make sure he got everyone in pictures and how he was seamlessly everywhere without be obtrusive. There was no big ladder in the middle of the dance floor or big flash in your face- it is your day and you can be confident Jashim is capturing it in the best light for you! My wife and I had the privilege of having Jashim Jalal as our wedding photographer in August this year. The short version: I am a photography lover and a wedding photographer myself, so hopefully that adds some credibility to my review. Everything from his service to personality to photography was spot on. We had a great time with him and loved each and every one of the photos he provided us with. IF HE IS AVAILABLE BOOK HIM ASAP. Trust me, you will be thankful you did. The long version: First contact: I had one job for the wedding that my wife left up to me, find the best photographer I possible could. Being a wedding photographer, I'm very particular about how I want the final product to be. Luckily I stumbled upon Jashim's work and I was impressed by his consistency, creativity, and his experience with a variety of weddings. From searching his blog I saw he had experience with typical American weddings, and different cultural weddings as well. I also noticed he had shot weddings in many different locations, and regardless of the location he was able to stay consistently creative and always came up with fantastic shots. My wife loved his work too, and that was a go for me to contact him. His email response time was quick and he was always willing to work with you. A+ on communication, professionalism, and friendliness! The Engagement shoot (aka E-session): I'm from Michigan and my wife is from New York. We decided to do our engagement shoot while I was visiting NYC. We met up with Jashim and his sister who was assisting him. They were both awesome to work with! My wife and I felt like we were just hanging out with two friends. Our engagement session lasted about 2 hours, and Jashim was very efficient in that two hours. He scoped out locations, came up with amazing shots, and directed us very thoroughly. Here is how to get good photos of you and your significant other with Jashim: 1) show up 2) trust him That's it! We got our engagement photos back rather quickly after our engagement session. Of course the photos were AMAZING. They were amazing not only because they were composed well and edited perfectly, but because he captured us both having a great time. The Wedding: By the time the wedding rolled around, Jashim was just like one of the guests. To be honest we sort of forgot he was there, and just enjoyed our wedding. And that's what makes him so great! Soon enough we had like 700 photos and we loved all of them. He captured our whole day very well. Our parents have went through those photos beginning to end about 10 times already. Everyone loves them. We recently received our full resolution photos in a very elegantly designed leather USB drive. His photography style is simple, he captures the moment and provides photos that are clean and have simple edits. I'm not a fan of changing color tones and adding retro looks to pics, and thankfully he doesn't do any of that. He does take some creative photos with anything he has available, and he utilizes light perfectly. For example in our limo he used his assistant's iPhone light to light our faces and get a fantastic shot. OVERALL: We couldn't have picked anyone better, and he really was the perfect photographer for us. Expectations were exceeded! Everything from our wedding is gone and what's left is just his photos, and let me tell you those photos let us relive our wedding once again. Thanks Jashim! read more
