This is a really nice ice rink that has a restaurant and is at a tolerable temperature for watching youth hockey! Benders has your typical bar food but their egg roll Rueben and pretzel bites are to die! Our family watches a lot of youth hockey and this is one of our favorite facilities to go to. They also have plenty of public skate times that brings up all sorts of nostalgia for us middle age-ish folks. read more

I love this rink and especially the restaurant overlooking one of the rinks! The staff and food are fantastic, and actually affordable for the area. The rink staff is also very helpful and quick and well-priced skate sharpening and laces, etc...something the rinks in COS should learn from and accommodate. Families travel such a long way to various rinks around the state, and they want service, warm seats, viewing areas, beer, food, and not just soda and popcorn! The Promenade rocks! read more

This is a great place to watch my friends play hockey. During tournaments or days there are lots of games, the parking lot can be pretty packed. Wear your walking shoes and be prepared for a bit of a hike to the door. I love that there is a restaurant & bar inside the Ice Center. It's great for drinks & food between games. And, you can grab a pint in a plastic cup from the bar to take down to the stands. If your friends happen to be playing in the Green rink, you can actually sit in the bar and watch the game from there. The bathrooms are, well, well used. But, of course you would expect this from a family friendly facility that caters to sports teams. There are a lot of stairs in general. Again, wear your comfy walking shoes and be prepared for a little exercise, even if you are not the one playing. read more

Large facility and very busy. The facility was clean and it was easy to rent/return skates. The rink available for open skate was nice but busy and a number of kids cutting around/through groups, so not great if you're not experienced. It would have been nice if the staff monitoring the open skate intervened earlier with the people skating more aggressively or if there was a beginner friendly area (but this was a weekend when all of the other rinks were full of league events, so the latter wasn't really feasible). read more

Played here years ago for a big hockey tourney, but haven't been back on the ice here since, so this is just a quick objective review of the facility. It's a huge facility with 3 rinks, pro shop, snack bar, and a nice full bar and grill (Bender's) connected to it. Would love to come here with my gear next time I'm in town for business for some pickup time if I can manage it. But public skate is just $6, with a $1 discount if you're a local. read more

A good place to ice skate for a couple of hours. A big issue this place has is that free skate is only from 7:30-9:00. That can be late for a lot of people and it isn't even that much time to skate around. Also, in the last 30 minutes the ice is usually so torn up your experience is hindered then. Considering this is the only ice place for many miles, a four star rating is fair. read more

In my time in Colorado, this is overall the best ice center. Having triple rinks alone beats out other rinks in the area. A few downsides to this rink; They choose not to run the rinks all the time, minimal public skates and stick and pucks. This rink runs a ton of organized hockey and is really awesome at doing that. The jaguars program through and through is very good and a place where you would want your kid to play and grow as a player on and off the ice. Two of the rinks on the edges of the complex feature minimal seating. They both stay quite cold as you'll need to sit close to the ice: you can stand along the top ring within the complex but you won't be able to hear any of the action as glass will be between you and the ice. The center rink aka blue rink is by far the best which is setup similar to the NHL and college rinks. A large scoreboard hangs from the center with Home and away stands on both sides of the ice. The other rinks have your typical wall mounted score board. The best part about this rink for a hockey family is the location. If you need to be at the rink all day then there is your typical ice rink stand inside to grab a bite or hot coco. Plenty of vending machines are scattered throughout the complex. They also have a pro shop for skate sharpening or grab some gear. The shop will have everything you need but isn't huge. Attached to the rink is Benders which is a sports bar featuring all major sports packages with tons of TVs. You can view the ice if the team plays on the green rink. The building itself sits a duck pond that you can walk to the Westin or local restaurants. Just crossing a walking bridge is a large movie theater, dave and busters, Bowling, brewery and many more restaurants. It's also super close to some major outlets. read more

This is the nicest ice facility in Denver. Not the best ice but pretty good. For the most part the people that play in the adult leagues here are not a bunch of goons, which is nice because we all want to be in one piece at the end of the game. The refs seem pretty fair and even for the most part, although I have run across some bad ones. Everything here is clean and well maintained. One thing I'm not overly happy about though is that they are really strict during rec skates about aids for the kids who are learning. They don't allow them. I understand why that is but it's still irritating. Their main reasoning from what I can tell is that they want you to put your kid in a class. Understandable from a business standpoint but irritating as a parent who can actually teach his kid to skate. read more

I have been playing hockey here ever since I was five years old. Safe to say, Hyland Hills is one of the best hockey clubs to be apart of growing up. The facility in of itself is awesome. Three full sized rinks, each with their own positive aspects. The addition of having the MSU Denver hockey team call this rink home, is a huge plus as well, and is extremely convenient for an MSU Denver alum to enjoy some good hockey. I highly recommend being apart of the adult league ICAHL, as the prices are fair, and you can always go up Benders bar after a game to enjoy a victory! read more

This is my favorite sheet of ice to skate at in Denver. I'll drive the distance until another place pops up. Until I save up enough for a hockey season, i will continually come here for public session to skate and clear my head on weekends. i like the ice and its not so crowded either. I just put on a pair of headphones and do my laps. Wish I could live close to here though. Tons of families come out here and I see a bunch of dads and their kids on the ice. Fun place to walk around too even across the bridge. You have places to eat and a movie theater as well. Keep up the good job guys! read more

Three sheets of ice with decent locker room facilities make this the nicest public rink. Playing hockey here is deluxe. Having played in MDC rinks in Boston, this place kicks butt. Jackson's Hole bar overlooks the Green rink so you can showboat. Blue rink is the center stage one though. It is best when you have spectators for your game. Red is dungeon-like. At least the showers work and aren't too nasty or crowded. read more

One of the best-run ice rinks I've seen, period. I thought I saw it all while skating and playing over some four years at the a2ice3 in Ann Arbor, another of just a handful of facilities with three year-round rinks. But the 'Cube sits alone a few miles outside of town, surrounded by parking lots, marshes, and the interstate. The Ice centre, on the other hand, is within a complex of restaurants, a cineplex, comedy club, a decent thai restaurant (see future review), all just a very short stroll away. And attached to the ice rinks is Jackson's, not especially noteworthy (other than the very sweet red-headed woman who tends bar on w/ends and some very nice servers, e.g., Tricia), but a totally convenient locale just upstairs to have a few microbrews with the boys and girls after the game. Hockey player that I am, I especially like the year-round adult co-ed leagues: really well organized, well officiated, and lots of skill levels to suit nearly everyone (and luckily only a handful of a-holes who take the games and themselves far, far too seriously). Game results and team and individual stats are updated weekly on the Centre's website (www.icecentrehockey.com) The 21-game season has just ended and it's all playoffs through the end of the month. And just because the locker rooms are clean, doesn't mean I use the showers. There are limits. read more

Ice Center (formally Sun Ice) is a really nice rink. The glass is not scratched, the ref's are fair, the seats are plentiful and they give you free water when you play. Minus one star as Jackson's Hole service is very, very slow. read more

Rink is very nice for viewing events. Staff is always rude. Hockey leagues are ran below average, and usually unorganized. They try to run everything electronically which is great, but on a sub-par infrastructure. I had to submit payment multiple times because of a "network error", and the stats they claim are live updating typcailly take a week to update. The kids skating programs have the potential to be great, but they cram them full, so you typically have 40-50 kids on the ice with 10-15 kids per teacher. Not great for 4 year olds, especailly when paying $80 per session (5 lessons). But they do have a nice facility with three rinks... could be worse I guess. read more

So very torn about the Ice Centre On one hand, it is an amazing facility. Three sheets of ice, lots of programs and leagues. A good pro shop on site. A functional Bar and restaurant on site that looks down onto one of the rinks, that is a great way to watch a game, or to go to after a game. It is in a good location, right off the highway, with tons of other amenities nearby. On the other hand, the leagues they have can be incredibly frustrating. Crazy late times for starts of games, You can sign up for a Tuesday league, and have games changed to a Saturday for no reason. You can even have playoff games moved. The league levels have a tendency to have very little correlation to the actual skill level of the league. For instance, if you are a C1 player and you want to play on Tuesdays, and there is only C7 leagues on that day, guess what, you are a C7 player. There seems to be little to no policing of this. This place is so close to being very good, but they just seem like they are on autopilot and don't care that much. read more

Went here with my son and grandsons ages 3&4. It was the boys first time skating and it was great! The place it clean has lockers and great skate assists for children The whole area outside the center is very nice too. We'll gladly drive 40 minutes to go there again. read more

Love skating here with my awesome boyfriend! We probably spend about an hour here a week, sometimes even longer if we decide to stick around and watch some pickup or adult league games after a nice public skate. It's never too too busy, just the right amount of other skaters. read more

They have very nice ice but are a little far from town. Overall the arena is fun because they have stadium height ceilings and big open ice, but this place is usually crowded. The shop here is helpful and friendly though their selection is pretty limited. If I lived in the area I would frequent this rink. read more

I've skated here sense I was a kid. Including lessons and just hanging out with friends. Every coach I've had here has been amazing and I love going there. I've forced boyfriends to go before and made them love it. I've been to other rinks and they're okay but this place seems more professional then any others in the area. I can't say much for their hockey program but I've been in their figure skating program for years and it's amazing! Getting better... I am an Adult Hockey player at ICAP and it's been going down hill for many years. It seems that they are trying to fix it and the update the building... I hope all that continues. My kids were really excited to try ice skating. They had been only once before in a different state. So we decided to make the trek to this Ice center. Good news is that when we went, it was not too crowded. Unfortunately, their experience completely discouraged them from wanting to go back. The facility does not provide any support aids for beginners. They told me it was because of liability. The experience was not fun, lots of falls, nothing to ease them into the sport, not encouraged to go back. :-( At the other place we tried, the ice rink offered upside down 5 gal. buckets (stackable to the right height) that kids could use for balance. Wish this place would do the same. read more

Nice arena for sure. It's no APEX but it's a great place to watch Hockey. I really don't mind this venue at all. I've seen CSU collage hockey here and it's cool. Just make sure to eat before you go. The bar here Benders just sucks read more

They lost my child from ice skating class and not one instructor noticed. Management did not take the problem seriously. They run at least 10 learn-to-skate ice skating classes at the same time on the same rink with 6-8 kids per class. It is absolute chaos. My preschooler went out with the class and I made the mistake of going to the restroom. When I returned, my child was no where to be found. It was absolutely terrifying. Fortunately, my spouse had arrived to watch class and found our child wandering around, crying, with ice skates still on. ***The instructor never noticed that a kid was missing from her class!!!*** The ice rink is so crowded with classes, I am not surprised. I talked to management who gave a line about "staff retraining" but failed to consider that there are too many kids in the classes, and on the ice, to ensure the safety of children. read more

Just witnessed the biggest crock of crap at the Ice Centre at the Promenade I have ever seen in a sports game... One of my boyfriend's teammates got tripped, went feet up in the air, and landed on his head/neck. While he is laying there, not moving, a player from the other team is swatting at him with his stick to try and knock the puck away, which wasn't even there. The Refs did NOTHING!!! Then, the next play, the same guy got tripped AGAIN, yet again, NO CALL!!! These refs are ridiculous! They get paid to come out and watch their friends play, and NEVER call anything on them. This follows a game several weeks ago where, again, the refs called nothing. The captain of our team e-mailed a complaint to the director of hockey and the guy never even acknowledged the email. The hockey director at the ice center at the promenade is WORTHLESS in his position and needs to be fired before someone gets seriously hurt!!
