I wish I would have taken pics of just the views so I zoomed in a bit on this one

What a great way to spend time during the holidays. The ice skating rink is set up with a perfect backdrop of the city especially in the evening/night. The ice is not prepped and monitored so definitely skate at your own risk. They have a sign to remind you before you step in. The ice was a bit frosty and dips in places that you will see as you look down so be careful. Luckily we did not trip, but we definitely saw some epic falls. No worries they got up and went at it again. The entrance fee includes the rental skates. The skates are not the most comfortable and start hurting after a few rounds around the rink. There wasn't much support for the feet. The fee we paid was $15/person so we can't expect to have the best of the best skates. When we made the reservation the costs was different for different times of the day, and if I remember correctly the lowest was $15 and highest was $26. They had plenty of areas to sit and leave your shoes unattended. I'm not saying someone would come around and start taking other people shoes ( it didn't happen), but it did cross my mind. I did enjoy my time, and we would have stayed longer if the skates were more comfy.

    Pool of water

Bathrooms were out of order and not allow to use the Long Center, ice full of water. Waste of money and very disappointing!

    The line...

There was a long line that we had to wait in for 1 1/2 and only one person working the booth. We had or skate time scheduled for 7 and didn't get on the ice till 9:15. At 9 you only have 45 mins... Although you can come back and use your ticket later they said. Still sucks. $30 is honestly overpriced for how small the rink is and the fact that you only get "an hour" on ice.

Definitely a fun experience! I will say if the quality of the ice is not great its similar to a crushed ice snow cone which makes it very difficult to actually skate no matter your skill level. However it was still tons of fun and lots of laughs! You need to buy your tickets ahead of time online and the earlier you buy them the lower the price. Each person needs their own ticket and it does include the skate rentals. The skates are however veryyy uncomfortable, hard plastic with an unnaturally high arch that makes it painful after about 15 minutes.

Quite exquisite ice this evening. A wonderful winter festivity for all to enjoy! Made even better that it was a fun time!!!

How about it! Some Austin ice made real nice!! Let me think.... Nothing better than some ice skating at the long center!

It made it a very practical choice for a group where everyone wanted to do something different. We went for a birthday party and had a great time. The arcade is medium sized but still has enough variety to keep the kids entertained. The skating rink is spacious, so you're not constantly bumping into people. We also tried the pizza and it hit the spot while we were there. Overall, it's an easy, family friendly place to go when you want something that works for both adults and children and keeps everyone busy. Definitely a solid option for a fun outing.

Add a little kid I love skating and watching adult skate in the streets and I wanted to do that but I always have protective parents so we were only allowed to ride on the street never in the street. A few years ago, I had a surgery on my knee due to a torn meniscus, and I have been desiring to go skating, but life has taken a course where I never made time however, this valentines, and anniversary weekend we decided to go skating. I had such a blast and I realize I really enjoy skating. Although there was a little discomfort in my leg from all the work of going around till midnight on adult night, which is Tuesday and Saturday nights from 9 to 12 PM and it was about $33 for two people with skate rentals. I brought my own skates however the skates that they have are quite nice for rent. I had o much fun watching everyone just smile and enjoy themselves. The staff was quite friendly, the DJ got better as the night got later, and we didn't get a chance to explore the whole new side. We are definitely looking forward to going back again with some other adult friends and experience the whole facility.

However, as I get older and wiser, I tend to branch out in my date Devil adventures...ever so slightly. On my bucket list for a date devil adventure is jumping from a plane. I'm not there yet for parachuting out of a plane. Today, was the big day for what I consider a dare devil adventure.... Ice skating. In my head I repeated this mantra.... Let's go, let's go, let's go!!! You got this. So, sheepishly I walk up to the counter and ask how much the entry fee was...$20 including skates... not cheap but not crazy expensive either. Ok. You can do this. I ask if I sit outside before I go on the ice. No problem the skate representative said. The fee included skating to 1 pm today. I had plenty of time to muster up my courage. Then my mind started to swirl and then spin...fast and faster! Next, I was in a full on Exorcist head turning moment. Girlie, you no spring chicken any more. You are not twenty years old. Why is it so cold in here? Why does it feel like ice is flowing through my veins? Remember when you broke your little toe in two places...exercising.... Ugly boot for three months...no heels for 1.5 years. Run Delores run!!! Your birthday is next month. Do you want to flat heels for your birthday. Nooooooooooooo!!! I jumped up and bolted out of Chaparral Ice like I was being chased my hungry pack of wolves. I applaud myself for trying to be adventurous today. However, I'm not quite there yet. Maybe after my birthday....

Didn't know about this place and they offer a lot of activities. Its a big place with multiple rinks, seating areas, party rooms, and soccer fields outside. They had this cotton candy machine that makes cotton candy into certain shapes and you can choose. My grandson enjoyed that alot. He actually enjoyed it more than we thought. He had his grandpa going to check out the different hockey games going on and watching the people ice skate. Note: it gets cold in there because they have to keep the ice frozen so bring along a warm sweater or jacket to be comfortable especially if you're usually cold. I definitely recommend this place. They also have a special events and public skating times. I plan I checking out one of those events. Im glad we had the opportunity to check this place out.

The rink itself is badly maintained and the wheels of their skates catch repeatedly on the dented, cracked wood. Every member of staff we interacted with, from the woman who manages the place to the guy renting skates and the girl serving food, was so rude and indifferent. The floor and tables were filthy as if they'd never washed, pizza was dry and gross, and it was just overall a lousy experience. You also can't pay with anything but cash. This place has outlived its nostalgia value and really needs either a full overhaul or to be shut down. My daughter wants her own skate party this year and we're driving down to Austin instead. I'd never recommend Wheels for parties or even a casual skate, it's just dreadful and unpleasant inside with the smell and age, like it was frozen in the 90s.
