When I was younger, I remember my uncle bringing me to Icebergs on Jupiter Street for an ice cream treat after I helped him clean his car on weekends. He would tell me to choose whatever dessert I want. There were so many choices -- Banana Split, Oreo Cookie Sundaes, Black Forest Parfait, German Banana U-boat Split -- but I always ended up getting the Mais Con Hielo. I'm old school so I always preferred Filipino iced delicacies rather than unfamiliar ice cream treats. Although I must admit, I was always tempted to try the Oreo Brownie Split but I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to finish one order.
When I got older, I realized that Icebergs didn't just offer cold desserts. They actually have a good menu for hot meals as well. In fact, I go out of my way to visit their branch in Metrowalk, not for their sundaes and banana splits, but for their famous sisig. For me, this restaurant serves one of the best sisig dishes I have tasted here in the big city. Their southern-style fried chicken is also very good. read more
