We moved into our ICON-built home in Canby just over 2 months ago; we are so pleased with it. This was to be a multi-generational house so before signing papers my Dad drew up plans for many changes and ICON cheerfully incorporated all of them into the blueprints. We lived nearby and Dad would come to watch the progress ICON was making and often remarked at the high quality of construction and materials. We especially admire the workmanship in the cabinetry. (The superintendent, Russ, deserves special mention--Dad enjoyed working with him. Sarah, also, was so very helpful.) read more

Update: Since posting my original review, Icon reached out to discuss my concerns. I appreciated the opportunity to speak with them and hoped we could find a path toward a reasonable resolution. Unfortunately, the conversation reinforced my concerns. Rather than discussing possible solutions, the focus was on explaining why the issues weren't covered under the one-year warranty and why I shouldn't have posted my review. I understand that warranties have limits, and I wasn't asking for lifetime maintenance. My concern is that an approximately $1 million home should not have overflowing gutters after three years or significant cedar siding warping after only eight years without the builder showing some willingness to help. What disappointed me most was being made to feel like my expectations were unreasonable rather than having my concerns acknowledged. At one point, I was told that because the warranty had expired, this was simply "how it works." The phone call was fully recorded for clarity. Everyone is free to draw their own conclusions, but I believe a builder's commitment to quality doesn't end the day the warranty expires. Customer service is measured by how a company responds when problems arise, not just when everything goes according to plan. read more

I am very upset with this company. I asked to see a location to put in a fitness studio, and Jen showed it to me the same day and sent me a price quote almost immediately. That was impressive. Then I asked her for a quote for the individual rooms in case I decided not to rent the entire floor. She ghosted me. Six days later, I sent her another email asking again for the quotes. She finally made me an offer, but told me they had started renting out the office rooms and that because of it, I couldn't play loud music in the studio. I was willing to compromise on the music issue, but I expressed my disappointment that she had signed leases with other renters when I was interested in renting the entire floor. She replied with a snippy email saying there were no holds on any of the spaces. I didn't want her to hold them for me, but I did want her to check with me before accepting an offer in case I decided to make a better offer. I could have signed a lease that day if she had only give me the price quotes. Then she said they're going to remodel the floor into executive suites, so I wouldn't be able to have a fitness studio there. She had sent me a price quote only four hours earlier. Why did she offer me the space if renting it was impossible? I am heartbroken. I wasted a great deal of time, hope, and excitement for a business that was doomed because of a dishonest and unprofessional real estate agent. If the space became available to me again, I would ask to work with a different agent. read more

This is my first Yelp review ever written and I am only writing this because Icon will not take the time to speak to us, in particular Andrea Hughes and Scott Rainey. This is not from a angry client but from a client who expects when building a home to have communication and be able to verbally speak to someone in person if necessary and not people who are hiding behind their computer screens and refuse to pick up the phone or have a in person meeting to clarify major discrepancies in the floor plan. They have LIED about several things which we have several emails to confirm, and only care about money. Andrea Hughes walked out of the room when we asked for her to just review her own email. She has terrible customer service, very defensive ( so clearly ICON is in the wrong ) and poor communication skills. If I were to build another home I would never build with them again and I would advise that you do not recommend them to your friends/family. read more

We were SO excited to start the process of building our very own new house. That excitement faded quickly in the process when I realized what kind of company we were dealing with. They take every shortcut possible which in turn compromised the quality of the home. The craftsmanship is shameful and has made that benefit of less projects around the house that you expect with a new build disappear. We now will have a long list of projects to repair and re-do. The lack of quality in their work and products is matched with their awful communication practices. We have records of texts, calls and specific questions not being answered in emails. We have tried so hard to work with them and understanding of how construction can bring unexpected challenges. However, they do nothing to remedy their unexpected challenges and we are to face the consequences. They have moved out the completion date twice, with the second time giving notice of the extension date only 16 days from what was supposed to be the date. We had locked our interest rate the day before causing us thousands of dollars to extend. We still haven't moved in and have a supposed completion date 60 days from the original date when we signed. I almost wouldn't be mad about that if I saw quality work being done. If you care at all about working with people who care about customer satisfaction or want a quality home, DO NOT go through Icon. read more

These people make horrible homes!!! They try and cut corners so they can profit and it ends up costing the homeowner a lot of money. They never put the roof vents in the attic going out to the roof and the attic was full of mold. They installed the sewer line with a huge belly in it and that needed replacing. The French drain pipe was so short it didn't drain properly. They built a built in bbq in the backyard with no permit and the gas line was wrong and the entire structure wasn't built right. They do things and then try and hide the fact they did it wrong. Tried to get an invoice of the work done and the controller hung up the phone on me. Stay away from this company they are crooks!!!! read more

Everyone at Icon was incredibly helpful and communicative along the way, even though WE were incredibly stressed! This is our 3rd home, and we're so impressed with the quality of their construction and our new neighborhood. Highly recommend! read more

As a Residential Contractor their final product is sub par! Their communication is horrible when dealing with warranty issues! I had to write them 2 letters that I was going to the CCB board about failing to fix warranty issues before they took me serious about getting my warranty issues fixed! Their sub contractors take shortcuts and are very messy and I would never buy a home from this contractor again! There are a lot better residential contractors out there! BEWARE!!!!!! read more

Do NOT buy a home from Icon. I purchased a brand new home in Oregon City from Icon about 13 years ago. They were negligent in installing the siding and rock work on my house. I am currently having to spend around $80,000 to repair the dry rot that has resulted from their negligence. The dry rot was so bad that major structural beams of my house had been eaten down to less than half the beam. I have contacted them and they sent their warranty guy out to inspect the damage. He couldn't deny that such damage should not exist in a 13 year old house. He said he would talk to the owner and would call me with an answer the next day but that he doubted the owner would do anything. He never called and will no longer return my phone calls. This company takes your money for shotty work and will not stand behind their work and do the right thing to repair it. Just about everyone I have spoken to in my neighborhood has had issues with their construction. You have been warned. Stay away from Icon built houses. read more
