Since then, I've made loyal customers of my husband, my mother, my two sisters, and two friends. Kathy does great work with all textures and styles. But as someone who has curly hair, it's particularly difficult to find a good hairdresser. Every curly girl I've ever sent Kathy's way has been overjoyed. She knows exactly how to prevent the dreaded triangle-headed effect, and while she will counsel you on frizz-taming products, she definitely won't push them. I've never had a bad experience with Kathy. Kathy converted a room of her home into a full-functioning salon. (The first time I went to her, I was a bit confused to be driving through a suburban neighborhood.) But as a result, she's able to charge a lot less, even though she has decades of experience. I used to go to pay around $45 a cut for inconsistent results; Kathy is half the price and always perfect. I have really curly hair and I was not expecting to have any luck with my hair. I am not from Rochester so I was even more skeptical! But once I called Kathy and set up an appointment, I had known she knows her stuff. The first half hour I was there, we just talked about what I use in my hair, how i style it etc etc. She went through the dos and don'ts especially with curly hair. She then proceeded to show me where my hair was cut wrong, how many inches she needs to take off in order for it to be healthy. Any question I had, she answered no problem. She cut my hair, layered it and straightened it for me so I can see the layers and it is beautiful! I will be coming back in a few months for a trim but I recommend this lovely lady to anyone!! I'm tired of getting an ingrown toe nail every time I've gone for the last year in a half and being told "you're just prown to them" uhmmmmm, no I'm not, I've done my own or gone to salons for 30 years and have never had one! I've been to several places in the last year and finally was recommended to go here by a couple different people. My first appointment was with Kim. I hymned and hawed about getting a full set of nails because I'm picky and they always look so fake on me. Not here. I walked out with a smile on my face and beautiful nails! I felt so pretty again! ( I know, weird that something so little can complete you and have such an effect on your being but........ we all know it's true) She also accommodated the fact that I could not stay for my pedicure after because I was running behind and had to pick someone up. She nicely told me it was not a problem and scheduled me for the very next day. (A day before a holiday which is probably the busiest of all days) I came in with my son's girlfriend. She did not have an appointment but she had missed hers and her nails were so overgrown they hurt. They stayed an hour late just to get her in and her nails were even more beautiful than mine and I have no idea how that was possible!! The next day, Kay did my pedicure. WOW is all I can say. I told them why I was there, I could not walk without pain on both big toes because of the last pedicure. It had only been just under 3 weeks and I just couldn't see myself going back to that same place to deal with it again and again, Kay took one look and said, "they are cutting it wrong." That's exactly what I was thinking!!!!!! Well let me tell you, it's been 2 weeks and 2 days and guess what???? No pain! I don't feel like I have to rush in there so soon to relieve the pressure from nails being cut incorrectly. I will be scheduling my next appointment with Kay again next week and just want to thank her for knowing her shit and caring enough to listen to me, correct the damage from another salon and give me faith in knowing there are good salons and techs out there and I'm grateful!!! Kay also did my first nail fill last week and again, I was blown away. I guess it doesn't matter which tech you end up with, you just know they all take great pride in the work they do and the finished product you walk away with and what a comfort that is! Below is my pedicure and nail fill pics. I only wish I had taken a picture of my first set from Kim. This salon gets a big fat 5 star review from me. I'm just going to let you know that coming from the pickiest and most OCD woman out there about her nails, this kind of review from me is unheard of.
