So imagine my surprise when my last bone density study showed an increase in my lumbar spine! I was amazed. Chase's fingers were like magnets that found tension and melted it away (at one point about 45 mins into my hour-long massage I felt a knot suddenly dissipate which I've never felt before, despite having had 50+ massages from other clinicians prior - high praise!) If you've ever had a massage where the therapist just KNOWS where to focus and intuits what your body needs, you know what I'm talking about. This was it. Chase also used warm stones and cupping and blading which he showed me prior to starting the massage. The background music started as a pop mix and transitioned into relaxing beats (if you have preferences for a different genre, let him know beforehand). Chase was knowledgeable about the muscles that were hurting, telling me what they were as well as a possible link to allergies - an unexpected but appreciated bonus of the visit. The practice is well-named, relief is definitely what I got and I'm very grateful. Will be back for more.

While on the table, she guided my intentions for the session and had me focus and imagine negative things floating away. I was able to let go of some very heavy things I'd been holding on to and came out of the session feeling so much lighter and more at peace. My second experience was with Cassidy for a 90 minute massage. I told her I'd booked it because I'd seen it was recommended after the reiki session and as a reiki master she explained the link and went into more depth with the connection between the two. She is extremely knowledgeable and explained things about my body that had been affected by my mental state of mind. She intuitively knew after working on me for a few minutes that cupping would be needed to increase the blood flow and asked if she could do that. Just surrender to her and let her work her magic! She also used the singing bowls at the end of my session. Overall, I went into these appointments wanting to just relax, grasping at straws to get negative energy out of me because what I was doing wasn't working. I left feeling so calm and happy and because of their consultations with so much information on how to move forward incorporating the principals of and understanding of how to keep that peace at home, make safe spaces for myself, and prioritize time for myself to prevent me from getting to the place I had been when I entered their door. The last time I had seen a sign like this was in Southeast Asia. I have to say the word "massage" and "$10" is not an every day find in a place like Charlottesville where there are spas galore with promises of "Total Relaxation". I walked in, paid the courteous gentleman, and with few words exchanged, had one of the best massages since my massage on the streets of Bangkok (all in a matter of 10 minutes).
