To begin with, very disorganized. Very few if any emails to parents confirming registration, and…read moreother important information. There was absolutely no information given about the drop off and pick up procedure. There is only one narrow road in/out. No information was given about early pick up and where to park, especially how to avoid the busses that arrive at least an hour early. My child told me that some of the camp counselors were "mean" to the younger girls, speaking to them in sharp tones and with belittling language. As a parent I also encountered some negative attitude from some staff. The program for girls who want to be camp counselors is severely lacking in direction and activities. The program describes that the girls will learn leadership skill and work with younger children. According to my child very little of those goals were fulfilled. Overall this was a waste of time and money, not something we would recommend to friends.

The staff is talented and committed. There is a parent participation component, as with all cooperative programs. This is something that drew me to the program. I was amazed my first year how varied people's situations are - one or both parents working outside the home part or full time, nanny's, grandparents and family friends helping out at pick-up and drop-off, as well as moms and dads working as stay-at-home parents. I didn't carpool, but some families arranged carpools. I often swapped child-care of my youngest daughter (when my oldest was in school) on parent-help days and then would watch another family's younger child when it was their turn. I've benefited from the sense of community at the school, and the chance to have a few hours every month or so to be with my child at school. The best part though is the positive experience my children have had at the school, developing social skills and learning through play.

It is a cooperative program, so you have to be open to that aspect. I personally loved helping in the classroom and getting to observe my child interacting with his friends. There are some volunteer components -- one work day a year to help maintain the school and grounds and service on one committee -- but they certainly aren't onerous. It's not for everyone, but so far I've found it very manageable as a working parent. The other parents are very supportive and open to switching schedules. I'm new to town, so I've found it a valuable way to meet other people and find a sense of community. The curriculum is play-based, so the focus is more on developing imagination, healthy social interaction, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing how the curriculum develops as my son progresses.

The school culture is rigid and judgmental, with a culture of pathologizing normal toddler…read morebehavior. Some of the things that made us withdraw our 3yo mid-year: Despite a stated open-door policy, parents were actively discouraged from involvement in or visiting the classroom. In March, a formal school memo forbade parents from speaking to each other at drop-off/pickup, asked parents to drop their children off at the front door instead of at the classroom door, and instructed parents not to carry their children or their children's belongings. The memo specifically suggested that any discipline problems at home were caused by not following the same rigid "expectations" as the school. When our son was afraid to use the toilet at school, the teacher forced him to sit on the toilet for 45 min while he cried in frustration. He was criticized for not doing work exactly the way the teachers wanted (e.g. sorting puzzle in the "right" order). In a parent conference, we were told our son was "too literal" because asked where rain came from, he said "From the sky," not "From clouds." He was already reading and adding at 3, but we were told this, along with his shyness, were signs of a possible psychological problem. We were bullied to take him for autism screening, even after a specialist and our pediatrician said he was likely fine. Administration, up to the head of school, either ignored problems or blamed us. When we sent a formal letter detailing our complaints, the school offered us a partial tuition refund if we signed a nondisparagement agreement. We refused. We've since learned other families had similar experiences. If you click on Yelp's "non-recommended reviews"--which are weeded out by algorithm--you'll see that other families have made similar complaints.

Jared showed no classroom control, was unwilling to work with my eager, excited, and happy child to help him adjust to the classroom. Jared also did not communicate with me directly, and I learned only after the second class that my son had been dismissed through the school's secretary. Terrible intolerance for different personalities and learning styles. Terrible communication. It is also in a terrible location, in a tiny dark building. Horrible experience.

We requested to save credit for future use and they did not reject this when we requested this. Now after a few years, we like to use the credit for the other kid. They told us there is NO credit at all due to the late cancellation notice and refused to honor the two month's classes we have paid. My two older kids did not like their classes. We had wanted to have my younger kid who is new to chess to try a few months to see if he could like it. They told us their students are multi-year serious learner and we are not good fit. It seems that they do not care about you if you can't promise to stay with them long term.

So the workload is fair, and the material level matches or slightly exceeds what he's doing in school. The instuctors there are great. I can tell they have a ton of patience because seeing how the kids act there, I would have lost my temper 10 times a day. Kudos to them. Only thing I don't like about the tutor center is that the waiting area for parents get super hot! Hot like a sauna. When I go there, I would go to the book store next door to kill time, but when I do wait, it gets pretty rough.

If you were to see the picture of the bruise...its so small you would ask where it is!!!Call child services on people who deserve to have it called on them. you don't go trying to ruin families and children's lives because someone complained about how there son is being taken Care of at school in the first place. i Considered taking him out for weeks before this and I knew I should have!
