At best MetLife's customer service is abysmal. At worst, they are thieves…read more My husband is the "owner" of a life insurance policy where I am the insured. We wanted to cancel the policy because I was able to replace this $750k policy with a $1M policy AND save $80/mo. My husband executed the necessary forms on 6/2/2017. Although they HAVE my husband's tax ID, in the section of the form that says, "Enter your taxpayer ID", my husband entered MY tax id and not HIS tax ID. Apparently it is supposed to be HIS tax ID, not mine, and for that reason, they have never cancelled the insurance but have continued to automatically withdraw $259 each month. This seems like a relatively easy mistake to make since the word "your" could refer to either of us and we are both associated with the policy. Take a look at the attached form - this is the one we actually sent on 6/2/17. NOWHERE on the form does it say it needs to be filled out from the perspective of the owner (and, in fact, the DOB and other info relates to me). I was still charged the full premium on 6/15/17 although I would have thought they could have processed it by then. When I was charged the full premium, AGAIN, on 7/17/17, I called and requested a refund. MetLife said it wasn't possible to refund the money. Now, do you suppose they would have paid the $750k if I had died between 6/2/17 and today? Or do you think they would have trotted out my husband's EXECUTED request, on the proper form, to cancel the life insurance effective in June? What happened to the days when people did the right thing because it was good business??

The claim form I received states claims are processed within 5 to 7 business days. Today I was told they received everything they need to process the claim on 1-23-20 and it will be done on or before March 26th. I do not recommend this company for life insurance.
