However, when I tried to explain to the hygienist past billing problems I've encountered (Nov 2024 being the latest) after my last two visits, the hygienist became upset and refused to provide the cleaning. She sent Dr. Marlow in to deliver that news. I explained my concern to him as I did to the hygienist. He said, "That's not how the message was conveyed." Consequently, rather than providing the service promised, I left w/out getting a cleaning. Of note: I informed the office staff about my billing concerns prior to agreeing to an appointment. I tried to communicate clearly my expectations regarding billing so that neither PVD nor I would later have an issue w/ the billing. If booking a patient and then refusing to provide care is the standard this troubled practice has adopted, those looking for a professional practice should choose a different one.

In the mean time I went out of work for a heart problem. Left my job to find something less stressful that wouldn't cause the extra stress on my heart. I get a phone call asking for my updated address, explained my above mentioned condition and said I'll pay you as soon as I can, got the bill for 28$ and a call two days later. The very rude collection lady/office person told me and I quote. "We sent you one bill and it was returned, we called got your correct address and billed you again a few days ago. You need to pay this NOW. It costs us $20 per billing that we do not pass on to you." Now the last time I checked a stamp is less than a dollar, haven't mailed anything in years. Paper 1 penny envelope 25 cents. Lady one the phone yelling at me lets be generous $15 an hour, we spoke 3 minutes first call and 4 maybe 5 the next. So based on her math, I should have told her save 20 bucks by not billing me and let's call it even. Dr. Gillette if you decide to change offices, with your hygienist or have a new office staff I would love to continue with you as a patient however I will never step foot into Sage Dental ever again.

I have little faith in any healthcare services in SE Idaho but I live here so I try to seek out the best. I found it with Dr. Hatch. Dr. Hatch and staff are competent, friendly, timely, accommodating, etc. etc. It's always a pleasure going to the dentist (yep, that's right, going to the dentist is a pleasure). I wish I could say my visits are physically painless, but when someone figures that out, I hope they let me know. Dr. Hatch could have recommended more expensive processes and procedures for my dental needs, but he has always recommended the best options considering my dental situation, my preferences, and my budget (and not his pocketbook). My hygenist in Dr. Hatch's office is Rachel (she's clearly more than a hygenist but I don't know what to call her) and she is excellent but from what I've seen, I don't think you could go wrong with any hygenist or staff member in that office. All in all, a great dental experience. I can't recommend Dr. Hatch and his team highly enough. BTW - he uses CEREC crowns. I have several crowns and this CEREC thing is far better than I ever imagined. In one visit, you get fitted for the crown, it gets made there immediately, and he puts it in - all relatively easy - and from what I can tell, about the same price as a multi-visit crown situation. I was skeptical at first but now I'm a complete believer in this process. The best part is that Dr. Hatch is a CEREC instructor teaching other dentists how to use this thing. Dr. Hatch is an expert. Three crowns with him thus far and although I hope I don't need anymore, I found the CEREC process to be great and Dr. Hatch to be perfectly suited for using it well.
