When my son was 4, he attended his very first day of pre-K at this school after never having been in daycare or a school setting before. It was a half-day practice session, and understandably, he experienced separation anxiety and attempted to leave the classroom several times looking for me. After just that initial 4-hour experience, I received a call from the principal stating that the school may not be able to accommodate him. I was also told that "our curriculum is accelerated and is not for everyone," and that if I chose to keep him enrolled and he were later removed, it would go on his permanent record. As a parent of a very young child who was simply adjusting to school for the first time, this was extremely discouraging and felt very final after such a short introduction to the program. At the time, I was also enrolled in IDEA for my daughters in what was described as an "advanced program," though I later came to realize the curriculum was not actually more advanced than what is offered in other local districts. Ultimately, I chose to withdraw my son and place him in a different preschool where he was given the time and support to adjust properly. Today, he is a thriving 5th grader at BASIS, where he is truly challenged and excelling academically. I share this experience because I believe early childhood education should include patience, understanding, and support for children who are new to structured school environments--especially at age 4. While this school may work for some families, it was not the right fit for ours, and I wish my son had been given more than a single day to adjust before being judged as incompatible with the program. read more

This school has gone downhill so fast, from the receptionist to the teachers, they just don't have it togheter, My son got selected and then suddenly he was not in the system, i received emails confirming he was accepted and also was able to register him online, and they just told me he wasn't in the system yet, and that the registration staff would call me to fix it, after I waited almost 2 hours, when they told me "they were busy" (probably stuffing their faces with breakfast) I had to put My son in Holmes HS cause no one ever got back to me or even tried to resolver the issue, I guess it was for the best, My son is disabled and they probably wouldn't be of taking care of my child which makes me think they might not want to have kids with special needs as scholars, also My daughter is being daily bullyed by a so-called teacher in 5th grade, "Miss" Sánchez, she yells and misstreats all the scholars in her path, making snark remarks to them which I'm not surprised, they would hire anybody read more

My daughter attended this school for one year for kindergarten an it was an experience. Little background my daughter has been in daycares programs since she was 6 months an never had an behavior issue or received calls for concern my daughter is friendly an jolly Idea my first issue was you can't reach the front office if you need to pick up early the phone just rings which leave to message the teacher on there personal number to give notice which is inconvenient Second her home room teacher MR Ochoa I felt didn't like my daughter he would write good things in her planner but I get calls from her counselor of behavior issues an I would be confused cause nothing was mention in her planner to talk to her about it It was his word vs his word in her planner just crazy After many calls from the counselor an I had to come to the school one on one with assistant principal an she was written up for taking off her belt was sent home ( they have an 3 strike policy) an her grades was suffering , I requested an homeroom change an the calls stop MS Moreno is the best 3rd issue school had an actual fire an had to evacuate an no parents received an call or notice or text I found out on Facebook!!!! Mind bothering 4th issue even though I changed her homeroom teacher mr Ochoa was still her reading teacher an they has an assessment they have to read an paragraph in 3 mins with no more of 3 mistakes an they have phases . I wasnt told of her progress until the last phase an received an letter that if didn't past last phase will possibly be held back . I was livid I'm an hands on parent an we review her planner every night no mention of this until it's to late an an letter of being held back in kindergarten . You can't get through to the front office to make an appointment so I took off work to wait in the lobby until I spoke to the counselor An of course they denied of mention of withheld an mr Ochoa listed she failed 2 of the 4 phases while the grade app said she pass I shouldn't have to double check the teachers work an he was never available for an real parent teacher meeting cause this school does there's different They make it where it's mandatory to pick up your kid no after school on that day an you wait in an line to pick up there report card an you have 5 mins to talk to the teacher which he says the same thing about each student then they release your child to you , crazy read more

Absolutely terrible school. From Stud (2019) to Dud (2021), "leadership" at this school will fail your student in every way possible. Oh....and bring in "behavioral remediation" staff to roam in and out of classrooms just waiting to humiliate and yell at your scholar for dress code violations. Just waiting in the lobby I witnessed a little tiny girl in a panic sobbing because she was scared she forgot her mask. Absolutely sad state. 2 gun violence threats since my kids started this school and not ONCE was I told about it as a parent. I found out through asking my kids why there were officers at the school so often now. Got a special needs/504 plan kid?? DONT DO IT! These assistant principals will bully them. Believe me, we experienced it ourselves. Shameful management communication or follow through. If you are looking for a boarding school/military academy to send your kid to for daily harassment by the "leadership" this is the place for you. Very sad bc the actual teachers here are wonderful. UPDATE: it been over a week since this incident occurred and I have not received a call back or the meeting I have been requesting since before they withdrew my son without my consent. 8/11/19 DISCRIMINATION AGAINST CHILDREN WITH SUSPICION OF SPECIAL NEEDS. This school does not know how to handle kids with special needs. The assistant principal called after only having been with my son for four hours at the first day of culture camp and said he was very bad during class and didn't fit their standards, they're main goal is academic and they didn't see him being able to succeed according to their standards AFTER ONLY FOUR HOURS. When I showed up Friday to talk to a principal and I had all my sons special needs paperwork I was never given the meeting and they would not let my son attend culture camp! Now the assistant principal let me know the my son has been withdrawn due to not attending EVEN THOUGH THE LADY AT THE FRONT OFFICE SENT HIM AWAY! I ASKED HER TWICE TO TAKE MY SON TO HIS CLASS AND SHE SAID FOR ME TO WAIT ON PRINCIPAL. And now that they've withdrawn my son they will not have a meeting with me. All because he had a rough first day. A student who could possibly have autism or adhd had a rough first day and IDEA just sent him away and continues to give me the run around and will not let me talk to anyone in person. IF YOUR CHILD IS BEING TESTED FOR SPECIAL NEEDS OR HAS ANY LEARNING DISABILITY DO NOT COME TO THIS SCHOOL THEY WILL SENT THEM AWAY SO THEY CAN REAVH THEIR NUMBERS. This school lied to me, did not treat me well and left my two children without a place when they were already students at Idea schools. I have had the worst experience at this place. Idea schools only care about numbers and results, but they are not interested in their students. read more

Let's start by saying my son made a mistake. He has severe ADHD and with that comes impulse control issues as any parent of an ADHD child knows. He violated what was a level two infraction, but they changed it to a level 3 within the last year apparently. They suspended him immediately and set an expulsion hearing. It was his first infraction ever and it didn't affect any of the other students. I told him to be honest, apologize, and take responsibility for his actions. Asking that the school let him stay. I figured they'd at least let him finish the school year since it was almost over. Nope! They tossed him out! after a week of suspension, he was expelled in the second week of suspension. He had no access to any school material, wasn't given any instructions on what to do or how to continue his education, I wasn't given any of the "evidence" they had against him and didn't even hear any of it until the hearing. It's now his third week without a formal education and I tried to appeal the expulsion in writing but you're basically mailing a letter to someone's apartment and they NEVER respond. Now I have to withdraw him in order to enroll him in our local public school so he has a chance at finishing the school year and moving on to the next grade. Heartless monsters. If your child does anything wrong, they have no empathy or second chances. They don't care about the kids, only making their quotas. DO NOT LET THEM TREAT YOUR CHILDREN LIKE THEY AREN'T WORTH ANYTHING! Find somewhere that cares about kids! read more

Very poor experience at this school. Do not recommend. We felt discriminated against and everything they did was shrouded in secrecy.

Just as we thought that this school couldn't get any worse it just did. Not only do the 9th graders not have a math teacher we also havent had an ela teacher since day 1. We have had multiple subs and co teachers for ela but no set teacher, the longest ela teacher we have had stayed for about 1 month but she has since got moved. For the whole week of 10/18-10/23 we have only had subs and we are not learning!!! And yes I understand that they are not exactly qualified to teach us, but admin could do better than to assign us packets for the whole week when we are supposed to be on our poem unit. Anyways that's not the point. The real problem is that admin had the brightest idea to assign the BAND AND ART TEACHER, yes band and art to teach us ela. Like gurl huh . And no I dont mean to include all of admin into agreeing with this very amazing idea because there is one administer that had nothing to do with this. And no I cannot name them cause that's a CoDE oF cOnDuCt and I'll probably get suspended. So yeah I cant wait so see my grade in ela drop lol. Anyways as a result of this teacher change, band and art will only be 2 periods. What does this mean u may ask?? Well it means that we are going to have to shove about 30 kids into a small classroom. Band and art are very small classes to begin with, along with this the band room was constructed to fit the MAXXX 15 kids in there. The largest band class that we have is 12 kids and it is already extremely hard to manage, now imagine 30.There is not going to be enough room, not enough instruments, and not much 1 to 1 learning opportunities. And before anyone thinks that those poor 2 teacher volunteered to teach ela, think again because they were voluntold and they are very upset. This teaching placement is not supposed to be permanent but at this point who knows, admin HOPES they they will have an ela teacher after Christmas break and if they do, they will probably quit. Great school! My kid is going on her 2nd year at this school. In my first year I picked up on the culture the staff was trying to display. My child comes home everyday with something new she learned. She is learning respect and manners and getting a great education. I appreciate the effort the staff puts into these kids learning and health. I got a notice today saying if a goody bag is taken for a birthday celebration and has unhealthy snacks it will not go out to the kids. The staff also make it a point to let the the parents and guardians know it's a partnership with the kids. They want to see our kids succeed just as much as we do and as a team these kids can be some of the greatest leaders of tomorrow. My child is not just another student at a school, she is a scholar in the eyes of the Rams family. Keep up the great work! Go Rams!! read more
