I've played company softball on this field several times over the past few years. It used to be a…read morereally crappy field (read: torn up grass, weeds, divots, shoddy infield, pretty much dilapidated and forgotten-- conditions not conducive to a softball or baseball game) up until a couple years ago when it was totally renovated.* Now, it's totally, shall I, say beautiful? Well, if you like turf, it's quite nice. So, obviously it's a no cleats field. There is a really nice track that surrounds the one field as well. There are stands for observers, bathrooms (which is a HUGE plus for athletes. Trust me...when ya gotta go, ya gotta go. Also, the bathrooms are clean, AND they have soap and hand towels! I was amazed.**), and locker rooms, but those aren't open to the general public and are solely for students who go to MB high school. The field is impeccably maintained too. I saw one groundskeeper (no, it wasn't Willy) who actually raked the infield when we were finished with our game last night. I guess my only gripe is it'd be great if the infield was covered to protect it from rain. It was slightly muddy at home plate last night. Oh, and since it's almost directly under the Manhattan Bridge, it can get a little noisy, so you might have trouble hearing your infield. So, if you belong to a NYC softball league and are scheduled to play here, you're lucky, because it's one of the nicer turf fields in the city. *This could also be called "Verizon Field" if you want to be all corporate about it. I think they gave the high school money for remodeling. **Maybe if I knew you better I'd tell you of the bathroom horror stories at most softball fields...flies, no doors, port-o-potties, or no bathroom at all, which doesn't help if say, you've drunk too much Gatorade and can't stand and pee like a guy. Oh, I've said too much.

Very small playground located on the very busy Horace Harding Expressway…read more Two handball courts with the standard chain linked fence enclosure. The courts share a wall, so the occasional errant ball may travel to the other court. But mostly the enclosure keeps the ball with in the field of play and not onto the busy streets. There are also two basketball courts situated side by side. One is considerably smaller than the other. Suitable for one full court game and two half court games, simultaneously. The courts are also enclosed by a high chain linked fence. Generally enough to keep the basketball within park grounds. The eastern and western ends of the park consists of benches along with trees and shrubbery. Would be hard to carry out a conversation and I rarely see people sitting here aside from the homeless. I believe the park can be improved by leveling this area and adding more handball or basketball courts where the constant drone of the LIE doesn't really matter.

I was really impressed by the amount of work and improvements made in 1 hour with Giovanni. The facility is very clean. Several batting cages, a snack area with video games, plus sofas with a big screen TV. I highly recommend this place. We'll definitely be back in the future with friends.

My son primarily comes with his batting coach to rent the tunnels, though he's also been there a couple of times with his travel team. Staff is very easy to work with, they are very service focused. Tunnels are wide, well lit and well maintained. Nets and turf are in great condition. All the tees are tanner tees, so high quality. We've been to quite a few other NYC based facilities (such as there are) and this is our go-to place. While my son hasn't used their coaching staff, a few of his close friends/teammates have. The parents have spoken highly of the quality of the instruction. Also of note - during the MLB off-season, I definitely saw local prospects working out here. (just as a note to the quality of the facility)

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Great, intimate ballpark to catch a local, minor league (Brooklyn Cyclones) baseball game. + Every seat (7,000 of them) in the house provides a great view of the field and action. + Tickets to all Cyclones games are VERY, VERY affordable, especially when bringing the family along. + The Brooklyn Cyclones have many promotional giveaways, including their most popular one - Seinfeld night - which typically occurs in August. + Many food vendors inside that not only sell your typical chicken tenders, burgers and hot dogs with fries, but they have since expanded their offerings to include pizza, chicken sandwiches ... and, one of my faves, corn dogs! + Ballpark private parking lot adjacent to the park and it's only $10 on game days (as long as you park here within 2 hours prior to the start of the game). THE NOT SO GOOD ----------------------------- - The surrounding area in Coney Island can be somewhat sketchy and rowdy at times. MIXED THOUGHTS ---------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Even though there is a private parking lot, street parking spots tend to open up here and there on weekends when folks begin leaving the beach. Came back for a Sunday game with my family. Boy was it hot. We thankfully found street parking by where all the auto shops were so the walk over was under 5 mins. The staff here are super accommodating. The man in our area wiped our seats down before he let us sit. How nice. I got myself hot dog and fries and a cold bev. As soon as I finished my food, I ended up standing by the concession where a small party was doing face painting. The heat was too much for me and my sister. We stood in a corner instead catching bits of the game, but mostly people watching. We ended up leaving after a bit and walked the boardwalk instead. See you next time.
