LHG will not jeopardize the health of their client's hair for a hair style. Furthermore, I appreciate that when I go to LHG that I'm not surrounded by 25 gossiping women that's typical to a beauty salon. Conversely, usually it's Jacqueline and myself and sometimes another stylist and her client. Therefore, it's relaxing and peaceful. No matter where she is, I will follow…read more Jenny is a stylist that knows her color because she educates for the color line that she uses. Aside from color, I let her cut my hair from short to long and have never had a bad style because she knows how different textures of hair will fall different ways naturally or set. Aside from Jenny, the salon itself is small and quaint. The entire place is clean and relaxing because nothing is crammed to close to each other. Chuck at the front desk is always helpful and kind. The other stylists are always nice and from what I have seen, also have great skills with hair. If you're around the area and are in search of a new stylist, check out VNL. I was in desperate need of a fix for my hair as I had an important meeting on Monday. Here's the hair situation (and I hope my review helps someone out there!): I wanted to take my dark brown hair to a white blonde. I've done it by myself a number of times; but now, as an adult, I decided to let a professional do it carefully. I met someone with amazing Yelp reviews and we planned a two week project on my hair to protect it from over damage and loss of length. It took me three years to grow out my hair to my nips! Unfortunately the stylist completely destroyed my hair beyond repair. It felt like wet thread (wet) and broke into pieces at the slightest touch (dry). It was painful and disgusting, and he never even achieved the white color. Instead he left me with several different shades of blonde and no recourse for my hair. After a month or so of repair treatments and cutting it to above my shoulders, I knew I would just need to wait it out. Then this meeting came up. My hair was a very blonde with now an inch of dark roots and pretty unmanageable. I needed to get my roots done and I didn't want to bleach them as I was advised by many professionals that I needed to get color back into my hair and work my way back toward my natural color. Back to Saturday... I went into the recommended salon and explained both my hesitancy and fear, and my needs. The stylist grabbed my hair and began coarsely brushing it, breaking it off all over me. I told her she can't just run a brush through my hair as it is badly damaged - she argued with me. She also told me she wouldn't color my hair because it just won't take any color. Okay lady, peace out and thanks for your gentle hospitality. I knew I wanted to go to that cute salon I saw on the way. As I drove up and parked in the back, I realized how small and unassuming the place was. When I walked in, two women were chatting and not much was going on. One of the women immediately asked me how she could help. After listening to my situation, she decided to phone Richard Yenchesky and ask if he will come in. She was very sweet and welcoming, told me Richard is very good at these hair situations. When Richard arrived (in about 10 minutes), he seemed to be jumping up and down in excitement about getting to fix my hair. He had no qualms about telling me he was very experienced and had dealt with much worse. After everything I went through, I needed someone with that much confidence. Richard was great. We discussed the possible outcomes for my hair and how long it will last (he predicted not even two washes but at least I got to my meeting). I was scared my hair would just break off. I was worried the color wouldn't hold. But he assured me it would be okay. When we were done, my hair was like a very light brown or dark blonde (he called it "dishwater blonde") and was exactly what he predicted. He round brush dried my hair to prevent me from needing the straightener and I was shocked at my hair being strong enough to withstand the round brush. After it was dry, it felt a lot stronger (PUT COLOR BACK IN YOUR DAMAGED BLONDE HAIR!) and looked pretty decent! He also gave me a free trim to fix my cut and make my hair lay better since the damage messed that up so much. My color actually lasted for about two washes (two weeks) and is now a lighter dark blonde but still professional looking. Richard saved me. If you're looking for someone who actually knows what they are doing, especially if your hair is ruined from someone else, go to him. He truly knows hair. He takes a serious passion in it and strives got excellence every time. He is also very honest and straight-forward about the outcome so there are no surprises.
