The truck rolls up and out pops 2 young guys that couldn't possibly have the experience necessary to do this job professionally. My gut said turn them away, but I didn't... always trying to give small businesses a chance. This is why I won't anymore. They didn't tape off outlets, stair rails, windows, or anything. They didn't move existing insulation before starting. They didn't fill the cavities fully. They made a mess of window sills. They had to come back a second time (only because I didn't pay in full) to top off some cavities and clean around windows. They were supposed to come back and blow insulation under attic flooring but 2 weeks later I'm still waiting. Spoke to office lady, left 2 more messages as they quit answering the phone. Just unprofessional all around. Also, you'll never hear from the owner after initial consult. He'll blow smoke and then bail on his own clients/crew. Just don't do it with these people... do extensive research, wait for professional, and PAY for professional. I paid the price of this lesson... now I'm imparting my wisdom. Mr. Brown explained that the old insulation was installed wrong and out of code but I could keep it because it would be grandfathered in. I chose to go with all new, they were quick and efficient. Mr. Brown's presence was very reassuring and I felt completely comfortable with the company. He also gave me the direct number to reach the person in charge of city of Tallahassee's attic insulation grant program saving me $400. They know what they are doing!

We had a very disturbing experience with 2 of the employees of Panhandle Insulation. I was hoping…read moreto speak to the owner of the company, as he really needs to know the type of employee that he has, the type of person interacting with his customers and that is handling his company. The initial experience was very good. Joe gave us an estimate, the job was completed, the twchs were excellent and we were happy. We gave them a 50% deposit in cash & were pleased to get an email from Sabrina, that said we would get a 5% discount for paying cash. When my husband got the invoice the amount due was incorrect so he called the office to confirm. He was treated very rudely by Lauren, the office manager?, and as he tried to explain the final amount we thought was due he was repeatedly interrupted and was not allowed to explain DESPITE the fact that he had HER email in his hand (stating the amt discounted) trying to read it to her. She cut him off & would not hear his explanation. VERY poor customer service. He lost his temper. The tech was still at our house to witness the entire thing on speaker phone. My husband ended up giving the tech the rest of the cash in his wallet out of frustration. I sent Lauren an email outlining the agreed amt we were to pay after the discount was applied. Not 2 mins later Sabrina called, told us that they had sat down to run the numbers & in fact we were right! She said Joe would be out the next day to return the money we had overpaid. That was all we wanted to avoid in the 1st place - but Lauren handled the situation VERY poorly - no apology from her mind you - admittedly made worse when my husband Scott lost his temper. So - the next day, Joe came out to return the money, met my husband in the garage & asked for my husband's signature. Done - money exchanged, no problem. Joe turned to leave until my husband asked him to have the office send him a final invoice, at which point Joe turned around, and told my husband, "You know, I wish you would have just called me directly to handle all this so they wouldn't have had to deal with your bullshit." But wait - it gets better. My husband said, "Excuse me?" To which Joe replied, "If I'd have known it was gonna be like this, I wouldn't have given you the fucking deal I did." Words were exchanged & my husband told him that he'd never call or recommend PI to anyone - to which Joe suggested we should have called another company that would have charged us more. He then proceeded to call my husband a "FAT FUCKING SANDWICH MAKER" & insulted me as well. My husband told him to get off of our property, Joe cont'd to bait him, telling him to come say that to his face as he walked away, and repeatedly called him a "FAT FUCKING SANDWHICH MAKER". There were 2 people involved in this altercation, many words exchanged in anger, but there will never be any excuse for someone to repeatedly insult, challenge & threaten a customer. My husband has been a restaurant manager for over 25 years. Customer service is all he knows, and this incident with PI took the cake. My husband is admittedly wrong for losing his temper in frustration & then in defense, but there is NEVER an excuse to a business to talk to a customer that way.

They did have to come back out once a couple of days later when some of the taped joints came apart. Their crew actually moved stuff out of the way and when they were done put it all back in place.
