As you enter the place you are welcomed by a delightful smile from the owner and waitresses. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of home-made food. The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. We ordered the cogote of grilled hake and fry pan padron pepper were amazingly tasty and fresh. The rib beef was perfectly grilled and one bite melts in your mouth. We had a pleasant dining experience with good services and food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend going to the Bordatxo Restaurant.

My wife had fixed menu (which the chef did not offer, we had to ask for it additionally): 3 out of 4 fish choices were not available. Tuna in the salad was about school cafeteria quality, the worst salad of that kind that we ever had, and we had tens of those in the North of Spain. The only available fish was named dorada in the menu, but had nothing to do with actual dorada which is a tasty fish, instead it was a thick God know which species filet that was previously frozen and tasted like cardboard. No amount of friendliness from the chef can compensate for bad food, unfortunately.

Besides good coffee this place serves very good and innovative Tapas for little money. Had some with with seafood and shrimp, some octopus, Jamon with goat cheese, and one with zucchetti/jamon and mushrooms. The octopus was a bit tough and chewy. But besides that everything was really tasty and fresh. We loved the interesting combinations of flavours here. The jamon/mushroom combo was great. But our favourite piece was the jamon with the goat cheese with onions on top. An unlikely, but fantastic tasting combination. All Tapas only cost a few bucks. A great place to grab a bite or two.

But we ate it over and over and over and over and over and over again. They redefined arroz con leche for us and their use of cinnamon is awesome! The fish was always fresh and perfect, excellent squid in its ink (best we had in Basque Country), gambas rocked, "burrito" is not a burrito and is to die for (and from), any soup we had was fantastic, and the list goes on. The wine list is long - the sommelier unfortunately wasn't there (on a Saturday night?), so we ended up having to choose without guidance which was unfortunate. The service was very lovely, although they did seem to be understaffed which led to issues later on in the meal...will get to those. For the food, we opted for the tasting menu with a supplement from the a la carte. Perfect amount of food, maybe a touch more than we needed and we didn't stay for dessert. The preparations are so simple, you get to experience the purity of the fresh caught ingredients. I loved learning about everything we were eating as we progressed. The turbot really is special, but other standouts were tuna dishes, lobster, grilled squid, red mullet - ok basically all of it. We were looking forward to dessert as we'd heard so much about it, but service really slowed up during the savory courses (understandably, as they spent so much time preparing the turbot at the table). We were seated in the back of the restaurant in the upstairs area, and it was very very warm to the point where myself and other diners were fanning ourselves with the menus. We ran out of water which didn't help. After an extended period of time without water, we just asked for the desserts to go (which they couldn't accommodate as they both had ice cream), but they didn't charge us for everything on the bill so we were ok with it. Even with this unfortunate ending to our meal, we left very full and happy, and look forward to returning (and requesting to sit somewhere where they have air circulation).

Honestly the best thing was the additional €6 PP welcome bites, bread, and fries. The Turbot and Scorpion Fish was simply grilled but they are already fatty and soaked in oil, wasn't served hot so the oil became pretty thick already. Everything else was also underwhelming. Like- okay! Best thing might be the Kokotxas it did tasted better than Ganbara but nothing mind blowing. Service was extremely slow as there's only one somm, one server to take order, the rest just serve for the entire restaurant. The dessert was also kinda a joke €20 for so-called souffle but it's more like a lava center brownie.
