If you listen during the day, it seems that they hand over their microphones to any yahoo or weirdo off the street with really far out ideas. The programmers seem to say to the long-haired barefoot bearded guy yelling at traffic, "Hey, why don't you come in here and preach your rants over the airwaves?!" The news on here seems to be on a purely local and biased basis. But that's okay, it's good to get the local viewpoints on things! It's nice to hear local politicians getting on the air and answering constituents' questions and addressing their concerns. I listen to KBOO over TuneIn online, but mainly tune in at night when they're not doing call in talk radio, and are just spinning the weirdest, most eclectic songs and bands. If you listen to this station long enough in the evenings, you're sure to find out some weird local bands. It seems that they play a lot of local acts and weirder stuff that's all pretty far out there. In all, it seems like this station is like if "Wayne's World" ran a radio station. The station doesn't have advertisements like other radio stations. It's a non-profit community radio station that is listener funded.

This is exceptionally hard for me to write since this station incorporates many things that I both…read morelove and hate. Sometimes simultaneously. To begin: talk radio. I hate talk radio. I think I mostly hate it because I think that *I* should have my own talk radio show, and so every minute that I spend being exposed to someone else talking at me just reinforces my lifelong bitterness. To cement the loathing: Dr. Laura (WTF, really?), Mike "Sour Grapes" Huckabee, Dave "Better Than I Deserve" Ramsey, and Rush "Your Terrifyingly Conservative Grandparents Were My Only Fans" Limbaugh. Now that I think about it, I can't believe I'm about to give this godforsaken lineup four stars. Credit it all to a certain Mr. George "I'm Not as Great as Art Bell but I Still Host Coast to Coast" Noory. Oh my god, Coast to Coast AM. Not many people know this, but I credit this show with being at least 80% of the reason I moved to the west coast. Up until now I would have to hope that I woke up in the middle of the night to catch the tiniest sliver of the alien/crystal skull/astral projection-filled goodness of C2C. But no longer! Now I live in the promised land of George Noory lulling me into a psychedlic slumber starting at 10 PM. I've spent many a night listening intently to his show and furiously Googling everything that came up in order to spout off about it later. I probably know more trivia centered on teleportation, parallel realities, and remote viewing than you could ever wrap your head around. Clearly I lead a richer life because of it. I miss Art Bell's callers who who dispppear from the phone line halfway through their account of working in Area 51 and the total radio silence that would follow, but Noory still makes my heart sing with extraterrestrial praises.

The thousands of Central Americans that "spontaneously" marched from there to our border, declining refugee status in Mexico ( remember that Paul?) only to throw rocks and other objects at our border guards, do not have a "right" to see that status in America until they prove so. And , Paul, if a wall is so bad then why doesn't California take theirs down? Whey did Pelosi and Hillary vote for a wall many years ago? Hey, it's just politics and , you are right, no one seems to care who really suffers on either side of the border. I've been a Demoract since 1970 but this current bunch makes me hide my head.

It would really be nice to see an AI DJ replace them. I'm sure there is an algorithm that has more talent then these wannabes. They might even play decent music. We already have a classic rock station and these guys are on the verge of that realm, if you want to call 90s butt grunge rock. Anyways, they still suck.

I am a listener of MANY categories of music from bluegrass to hard rock to classical and everything in between but often find myself tuning in to 95.1 FM for hours at a time, sometimes all day. KINK is not like sister-station…read moreKZOK though - instead of remaining a "classics only" station, they grabbed the "triple A" format by its horns and did their own thing. Thankfully, the station's been sold into local hands again (Alpha Broadcasting) and hopefully will remain fully-staffed. KINK is pretty 'mellow' but at the same time does have hosts and new music that you won't hear anywhere else - except maybe on KNRK 94/7. I stream KINK online from Seattle because frankly, there's no commercial station like it up here. I miss being able to just click on the radio and have a general quality rock song available either on K-I-N-K or on 94/7. Not sure why the station changed their name to "Kink dot FM" while I lived there in 2006, though.

Back in the day when they still had the Morning Zoo crew of Valerie, John, Dan-O, and Nelson it was…read moreone of the greatest stations in Portland. Sure it was entirely composed of mainstream pop, but it still had the morning show that was as unique as they are around the country. It is amazing to me that Nelson did not bolt for national notoriety because he was a man of many voices, outrageous humor, and was probably censored by station management and the FCC a lot more than he lead on. When he bolted to Rosie 105, the station had to work around him and John Murphy and the rest of the crew began fizzling. Their prizes were lucrative and exciting, but now are reduced to local events prizes and some cash money. The DJs (read: ZJs) that are now in the line up are uninspiring and tend to sound like they wish they were working somewhere else. They are all people offering different voices but the same music, which is your teeny bop, wannabe cool, high school fascinated pop music. 95.5 seems like it had the upper hand when it came to the rest of the young niche they were looking to market to, but ultimately they're all lumped in the same sad group of Portland radio stations.
