iHop is a great spot for foods!! I went to iHop with a friend of mine for the National Pancake Day to celebrate (and eat) pancakes. For this day, we ordered the traditional buttermilk pancakes (three of them) with a side of butter. Each table is equipped with four kinds of syrup: the old fashioned syrup, strawberry, blueberry and butter pecan. We also ordered back, egg and cheese tacos (beef and chicken are also available), with a side of Turkey bacon and a plate of fruits. Service was professional and quick, although it was busy because of the pancake day. Ambiance was also very nice, as it was a great even to celebrate. iHop is a great place to eat foods, especially the breakfast - iHop also offers lunch and supper menu, so food to be enjoyed all day long. Finally, Edmonton has four iHop locations across the city, so you can enjoy the foods band pancakes. read more

I heard a lot of good things in the past on how the pancakes were big, light and fluffy!! I came in today for a late breakfast and ordered me some pancakes, sausage and eggs!! Pancakes were very ordinary, certainly not big or light and fluffy,, more flat and thin,, nothing that I feel I'd come back for!! I can make better at home!! Eggs were made perfectly, sausage was good!! Are server , just dropped the food off and never seen him again until we paid the bill, My husband would have liked a fresh tea bag , but the server was no where to be found and by that time we we're almost done eating. My little one is now part of the #pancakesquad. No joke he loved the pancakes he got to eat. I haven't been out to a breakfast place in a long while but the food here was surprisingly really good. IHOP has been on my to try list for awhile but it was a perfect spot to go with the kids because the food is pretty kid friendly. My oldest son got the banana Nutella crepe, which was so chocolatey good. I ordered the wild mixed berry, ricotta lemon crepe which was very sweet, and paired with ricotta instead of whip was really nice. Hubby also ordered up an omelette because the pictures on the menu looked so good, and to be honest this might have been the best item we got, it was a huge portion, packed with meat and veggies. And it looked like the picture (tasted even better). Also ordered the big breakfast plate, which is a great way to get a little bit of everything from eggs, pancakes and protein. Bathrooms had a change table and they have plenty of high chairs and booster seats for the littles. Coloring was also provided for the kids. I walked in and the front staff were arguing in a different language and staring at each other while we stood there. After I ordered my gluten free food they came back and told me all they can give me is fruit that there kitchen is contaminated and they can not serve me gluten free food. Food was good in the sense that it's pretty hard to screw up pancakes and sausage. $80 for two adults and three kids and we were all still hungry afterwards. The plates are tiny. My side of ham was literally two inch triangles. The portions used to be a lot bigger. I would say increase the portion or I wouldn't bother coming back. i just had one of the worse meals ever at Ihop on 170 street. i was there with 5 other adults. I had the biscuit with egg, bacon and cheese and some sort of white sauce with a side of what they consider hash browns. The sandwich was tasteless and right out of the fridge cold. The cheese slice was colourless and the edges dry. I think it was leftover from lunch or breakfast. We were there for dinner. My companions had similar complaints. The pancakes, some had, were also stale. There was nothing good about this experience except the company of my family. I will not be back. read more

Most disgusting place! I just got my order from Uber eats, didn't receive my side salad that I PAID extra for, the eggs are supposed to be over medium and it looks more like they are less than over easy, the Mozza sticks are disgusting and cold and my burger had a piece of lettuce on it that looks like it was used 4 times already. Thursday night 6pm and the place only had 3 families, in it. Service was EXTREMELY slow and seemed there was only 1 server on shift. Food prep was slow and the kitchen obviously doesnt know how to read an order. I asked for a MONSTER burger with onion rings and what I got was a single patty burger with fries. If this is the kind of quality this place serves on a dead night - I REALLY question what kind of sevice you'll get on a busy night! Would NOT recommend this establishment, and I dont see me, returning anytime soon. read more

I've eaten here a couple times and can say the food is basically meh. It fills you up but it's really not that special and definitely not better then anything you can make your self at home. The omelettes are under seasoned with cheap sticky rather then gooey cheese. The pancakes are heavy and starchy. And service is decent but the servers always seem to be annoyed by something. On the up side it's usually clean and bright from all the windows at the front entrance. My kids love the hot chocolate here as well as their hash browns so because of them I will return. Got breakfast through Skip with delivery free over $30. My family members had strawberry vanilla crepes and the 2+2+2 with bacon eggs and pancakes. They were happy with their meals and I enjoyed the Big Brunch, which turned out to be a giant hamburger on a brioche bun with egg, bacon, and shredded hash brown in it, with onion rings on the side. Onion rings were really crispy despite their journey in a takeout container. No one needed to reheat their food. My one disappointment was that I ordered the Big Brunch for its promised potato pancake within -- and there was no crispy potato pancake, just a bunch of shredded hash brown that didn't hold together and spilled out everywhere when I held up the bun and bit into it. This was a downer because I really love potato pancakes and order them whenever I can; I detest regular pancakes. So maybe this is not the place for me! But my family was pretty happy. read more

I was torn between whether to give 3 stars or 4. The food is only 3 to 3.5 stars; however what tipped the scales for me, in awarding 4 stars, was the service. That being said, I went there on Wednesday in the late morning so it wasn't very busy. I can't speak for the quality of service during peak breakfast hours on weekends. I ordered the blueberry pancakes in a combo with eggs and bacon, my friend ordered the same but with cinnamon pancakes. Our waitress was very attentive, although she wasn't well acquainted with the menu. Despite that our meal was quite good. Nothing extraordinary, but a step up from Denny's or Smitty's. Our waitress even came back with extra bacon for me when she saw that the bacon was a little crispy (even though I thought it was fine). I would definitely go back, the food and service were good, and it is priced reasonably. Having said that, if you are planning on going on the weekend for breakfast when it is busy you may not have the same experience as me. read more

A bit busy when we went on a Saturday but after a short 5 minutes, we were seated. I like that they give you a whole carafe when you order coffee. The server was attentive and took our order quickly. My wife and I first visited this new IHOP location the weekend it opened. The location was overpacked with customers, yet the staff managed to provide impeccable service. We came again and the service quality was reduced a tad. The glass of coke that I ordered appeared to still be dirty and had food all over one side. Fast forward to today, we wanted IHOP and came with our son (6months old). We were promptly seated, however no service. There were three employees sitting down chatting. The manager even came out to scan the floor. Multiple employees made eye contact with us. Yet not a single soul came over to apologize for the delay, offer drinks, nor take our order. After 30-45mins I had enough, as our son was becoming tired and cranky. I put him in the car as my wife spoke to management. They then requested I come in to speak with them. They wanted us back and promised food in 5mins. They did not comprehend the waste of time this was and those with kids will know. That once they are kranky tired and you get them asleep, you dont remove them. So I said no. The manager gave us a voucher for $20. Its an odd sum as you will most likely exceed $20 when two people are eating there. But I accepted it. We will be back, but I strongly hope they crack the whip and demand better service performance by their servers. read more

It's a big restaurant so lots of seating. Our food was good. The service needs some improvement. For example, there are no substitutions on the weekend...not even toast for pancakes...bottomless drinks weren't refilled, the coffee carafe wasn't checked etc...all these small things that add up to the overall experience so the little things matter. IHOP prices are such that one should be able to expect quality service. This was our first time here, we won't rule them out based on this one experience. My wife and I first tried IHOP in Vancouver in 2009 and absolutely loved it. The food was great (especially when compared to Humpty's or Denny's), the prices good and the service quick and friendly. When we noticed that they building one on 127 Street in Castledowns, we were excited. We dropped in shortly after it opened and I'm happy to say it's as good, if not better, than the southside location. It is great for little ones - they take drink orders minutes after you sit down and bring them right away, as well as the standard crayons and colouring kit most places have. Now that doesn't really set them apart, but even though the line-up was practically out the door, we had a table in less than 10 minutes and food shortly after we ordered. One of the best things we ordered was the Bacon Temptation omelette - and all you need to know is this...SIX strips of bacon! We had the Stuffed French Toast and while we enjoyed it tremendously, it was pretty sweet. Our little one ordered the Funny Face pancake which seemed to be a one-inch thick slice of chocolate cake topped with whipped cream, cherries and chocolate chips in the shape of a face. Best of all, it wasn't super sweet and didn't send her into a sugar-fuelled hyperactive fit after she ate it. I reviewed the southside location a year or two ago after they opened and it became our go-to breakfast place whenever we were heading south out of the city. I really like the North Side Location of the IHOP. Even on really busy days I have always received exceptional service. The servers are friendly and make you feel like you are at home eating your pancakes. The food is always pretty good. You cannot go wrong with a traditional stack of buttermilk pancakes and side of bacon. You also get a good amount of food with a meal so you do not often leave hungry. It can get very busy on the weekends, usually the weekdays are not too crazy and you get seated and fed quick. I would also recommend signing up online for their rewards program, you get a free stack of pancakes for signing up and one on your birthday! read more

Not only was she slow, see didn't seem very happy or friendly. She didn't come back to the table for at lest 20 minutes after she dropped off the food on our table. Yes, dropped off not served!!! No eye contact and rude. I can go on and in about her lack of professionalism , but IHOP deserves better than a 2 rating. The experience was less than stellar. Food was okay. I had the cannoli pancakes and my spouse had a healthier choice of walnut pancake. My order was raw and mushy and didn't warrant the price. My spouse's healthier order was like eating a book. Taking into consideration that this is their first weekend open- you expect some bumps in the road. Their waitresses/waiters were friendly and helpful and the food was good as well. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated which is somewhat expected on a Sunday morning. However once we were sitting down it became pretty clear that the delay in seating is because there was no one to clear tables. The management staff seemed to essentially be dazed and confused. At any given time there was at minimum 4 tables that weren't cleared for for over 15 minutes (a couple were over 20 mins when we timed them) and another 5-10 before they were sat despite a line at the door. Will try again b/c the rest of the staff seemed to be good- but if the management doesn't get themselves figured out on my second try- I won't bother for a 3rd try. read more

This is a great addition to our part of town. I'm a big fan of breakfast, and IHOP is one of my favourite places for a quick, tasty meal that won't break the bank. Shawn and I went in today for lunch with our son, and the experience was good. Finn had a good time in his high chair, and the staff were great with him. The food was fast and fresh, our server was efficient at greeting us, taking our order, and clearing our table, and all the other staff we encountered were equally friendly and helpful. We didn't see any of the opening weekend issues that other reviewers encountered. Tables were being turned over quickly, all the service we witnessed was prompt and happy. We have eaten at this IHOP twice. Our first time there was during the opening weekend. We waited about 45 minutes around 10 am which we had expected. It was clear that most of the staff did not know what they were doing, leading us to question whether they had been trained. After being seated, our server quickly took our drink orders but seemed confused when I ordered the Tropical Twist Splasher, as if she had never heard of it before. I was instead given a different drink, something with strawberries and soda. Our food was tasty and came in good time, but not even 2 minutes after beginning eating did our server present us with our bill. She told us not to feel rushed, but I was surprised to see my bill before finishing my meal. Our second experience at this IHOP was much worse. We had to wait to be seated, even though we could see that many of the tables were unoccupied and simply needed to be cleared of plates. After being seated and ordering drinks, our server delivered drinks to the table beside us and placed her tray of drinks onto our table. This struck us as odd because we have never seen a server place another table's order on our table. My boyfriend ordered a meal that comes with a choice of soup, which we expected would come before his meal. All of our food came out quickly, except for the soup. It was not until the end of our meal when our server informed us that the kitchen was out of the soup and asked if we wanted the other soup. We could also tell that there was little communication between servers as we were presented with more than one refill of the same drink. At the end of our meal, the staff at the cash register asked how our food and serving experience had gone. I asked them if the staff had been trained and they told me that they were but that most of the staff did not have any previous restaurant experience. I've been to this one multiple times and there is always amazing service. The waitresses are good with kids and are prompt with all services. Sometimes they are busy but the wait isn't that long. They have lots of seating available for the wait too. The food is delicious and the price is awesome for the amount you get. Their specialities are always the best!
