Channelled my inner haggler (who's usually pretty darn deep) and the salesguy gave me a great deal on a price that was already a third of what you'd pay for the same thing in a swanky shop in Newtown. I first discovered the beauty of Daiso traveling through Japan in early 2013. Then I found a Daiso in Los Angeles when I lived in California. Now I found this gem on a stroll to find some dinner. Screw Dollar King, this place has QUALITY made products. Although some things in Daiso are "Made in China", just knowing I bought it from Daiso gives me an overwhelming sense of assurance that it won't fall apart or give me lead poisoning. They have everything from chopsticks to AA batteries, dog costumes to hand warmers, cell phone cases to Christmas decorations. You need it, they got it! Everything is only $2.80!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aisles are super clean and mega organized. Oh Japan, you can do no wrong. I love you!

I had initially stopped by because I was looking for an oil burner, but what I found was so much more and left with an armful. There were pillows and African fabrics, Japanese china and Moroccan lamps, candles and jewellery, handwoven baskets and hand painted frames. The textures and smells hypnotized. I could see a spot for each found gem in my place at home. I need this right? I kept telling myself. The staff is friendly and the prices are affordable. Don't forget to head upstairs for larger pieces such as dressers and stools. They take cards and cash so don't worry and prepare to spend some time.

I went one time and saw mostly handmade crafts and trinkets. There was even a vendor selling visors for dogs. The memorable one for me was Lunar Crafts because her crochet work was so good. There are a handful coffee and food vendors but not much to get full. On the green there were what looked like to me people selling their closets. A lot of signs read "need everything gone" and "buy 5 for $5". They had mostly clothes but also shoes. It's fun to walk around and get views of the Anzac bridge, the Sydney harbor bridge, and the Opera House. Luna Park is not too far away. Parking - free and paid parking on the street.

I actually planned my vacations so that I could be here on the fourth Saturday of the month -- while both living in Sydney and visiting. I believe they have an extra market in December (or maybe they move the date?). It also happens to be located in one of the more picturesque spots in Sydney, great view of the Harbour Bridge! Anyway, it is conveniently located next to the Kirribilli train station and once you're done, there are tons of cafes to check out, grab a flat white and admire your wares.
