The rating is a little lower than it could be only because I felt it was a little pricey for the quality. They definitely had a high-end of the menu which looked good but we ordered off the lower end. Since we'd been eating our way through Rome we were looking for someplace with more beef on their menu and also a place that was not likely to attract too many tourists (like us). Il Belli fit the bill perfectly. The neighborhood is a little quieter, a few of the clientele there, while we visited, appeared to be regulars. In fact, one table came in and the proprietor (I assume he was the or one of the proprietors) came out and greeted them by name and immediately showed them a few great looking cuts of beef. That was pretty cool. Many of the good restaurants in Roma are neighborhood style places, like this one. A handful or two of tables, small kitchen, and the things they do they do well. We ordered a bottle of wine, ordered steaks, and then had desert. We'd eaten plenty that day so were really just craving a steak. Since their menu has mostly a la cart options it was, again, a very good fit. The service was very good...and again, I assume the proprietor. So the three stars is because the steaks were just OK. We ordered a ribeye with rosemary and one with bolognese sauce and porcini mushroom. Both cuts were maybe 1" thick and seemed to be not better than USDA Choice meat. The one with Bolognese seemed it had zero seasoning other than the sauce and the sauce was...meh. So I was surprised and a little disappointed. I'd probably go back but I'd be prepared to spend a fair amount for their higher end steaks. Those looked good. read more

This place is NOT opened for lunch. I don't know who put the hours on here, but every time I passed by this place during the day, it's not open. And it's been on my list since the day I got to Rome. It's open during dinner. And this place is really good. They make great recommendations and have you try the wine. I have not had any bad food here. I would definitely recommend this place! I can't describe this place as well, you just need to come here. It's fine dining since they offer three course meals but you can come in wearing casual clothing. Just try it! read more

Stopped in by chance looking for a place open late in the area. Me and my fiancé walked in and loved the look immediately. There were old Charlie Chaplin movies playing on a big screen against the wall, with wine bottles mounted all around the place. The place is run by two brothers who are great. Our server was the younger brother who was there helping out during the economic troubles in Italy. He was more fluent in English and said he learned English to finish reading the game of thrones books not translated next lol. Attentive is an understatement being we were of a select few there that late he hung out a bit with us til our food came out to not be invasive. The food was great and somehow I after having my after dinner customary drink I felt like I ate but wasn't stuffed even though I ate a small feast. The place was reasonable for the area but pricey in an up scales NYC kinda way. I loved this placed promising to check back in when I return to Rome. read more

Absolutely lovely, we were looking for a place close to our hotel, this was just down the road from where we were staying, the food was absolutely divine and our waiter was really friendly and explained the dishes very clearly. Would definitely recommend this place if you're staying in the area, prices are reasonable and the food is definitely worth it! My husband and I found this place our first night in Rome. It looks like this place's specialty is grilled meats, which we did not try. We had the pesto gnocchi and cheese rigatoni. Though good portions, both the rigatoni and gnocchi was overcooked. There was a little too much cheese covering the rigatoni and it overwhelmed the dish. I can say without hyperbole that this was the best meal I have ever had in my life. I'm turning 41 in a few days and I've had many meals in my days...best. meal. ever! We were looking for one last place to have dinner before we left Rome. We used Yelp! and decided to try Il Belli. It was early to have dinner for European standards, so we were literally the first ones there. Staff was reasonably nice, atmosphere was pretty standard, a little off the beaten path. But, oh my Lord, the food was divine. Carpaccio, Beef Tartare, Spaghetti Gricia with Bacon and Pecorino Cheese, and for kickers a chocolate liquor. I can't say anymore. It was ridiculous. This place is awesome!! I had never ever in my life had a better carpaccio! I think I already talked in another review about my feelings on raw meat, and let me tell you, this was outstanding! The place feels very classy but comfortable, our server who apparently is also one of the oners was very attentive and cheery. Our other food was also mind-blowing, the pasta is just made fresh , and the sauces.. Oh God the sauces! The ravioli are heaven sent and we also tried a kind of beef stew, the meat was so tender and perfectly cooked it melted in your mouth. Now for dessert, I lovee amaretto so I had the amaretto semifredo, gorgeous. Also tried the tiramisu and the chocolate cake with that sultry melted center, just what you need! At the time, I felt I had a "life-changing" ravioli! But that was on our 2nd of 4 legged trip through Italy. Although very good, I've realized it is hard to NOT have a very good meal in Italy (I started looking for the outstanding!). Small little bistro restaurant on a side in a residential area. The steak tartare and beef carpaccio were excellent I was disappointed with the lack of garnish and accompaniments like onions and capers that were missing that were traditionally served with these kinds of dishes but the quality of the meet was excellent. Spaghetti with clams with bacon we're good but I only got one little taste of the deliciously savory bacon that they had added. We shared the châteaubriand New York strip steak it was very tasty served on a hot skillet with a truffle cheese fondue. The service is a bit lacking and they don't time their courses well if you order several courses they might all come at the same time so be aware of that when you order and don't leave it up to them to stage. Overall I would definitely make this a stop for beef cooked or raw not fancy but certainly worthwhile. With a few tweaks this could be a five-star restaurant. read more

We walked to this place since it was close to our place. We had no reservations and were about to leave when the waiter said if we want we could sit at the farthest table outside, which we did. Great little authentic Italian restaurant that seems to specialize in beef. They have 3 different raw beef items (carpaccio, tartare, and a raw hamburger type I forget the name) alone. Of course there's steak and hamburger as well. We were in a pasta mood and they delivered. We got pesto, white meat sauce (no tomatoes), and cacio e pepe. A mixed salad and a plate of meatballs in red sauce rounded it all out. Got a good wine recommend by waiter. We didn't get dessert but he brought us shots of chocolate and rum- surprisingly good! Nice people and good service. It was nice to be the only tourists among locals for a change. read more

We found this place when looking for a restaurant close to the Visconti Palace hotel, which is just a few minutes walk. I'm not a fan of raw meat, which is their speciality, but I found a very nice egg plant starter and had a lovely chateau briand as main course, topped of with a nice desert. Everything served with a smile in a relaxed (but modern) atmosphere. Given the relatively low price level this makes 5 stars in my book. read more

An intimate place that feels upscale without being expensive, with nice selection of wine by the glass, and attentive service by the owners.
