I don't know how anyone could give this place 4/5 stars. We had carbonara, bucatini amatriciana and the rigatoni arrabbita. All 3 dishes had absolutely NO flavor. I have never had a carbonara I couldn't eat. This one is only one I took a few bites and never finished. It was very disappointing given it was my first "authentic" pasta in Italy. However, the Greek salad was huge and focaccia was to die for. The focaccia melted in your mouth and was awesome. Only reason for the two stars. Service was also very slow. read more

I don't know how others are rating this place so high. This place is a solid 1. Ordered 4 different dishes. - Meatballs came in frozen. Red sauce was good, i took a big bite of the frozen meatball and called the waiter. They seemed to get upset afterwards. - grilled octopus was good except it comes in a heavy bed of mashed lentil or peas. If you order it, get it plain. The mashed lentil really ruined the taste. Couldn't eat it. - pasta carbanara is acceptable - buttered cheese pasta was acceptable Service was terrible. After mentioning the cold meatball, they gave us the cold shoulder. Service was ABYSMAL!! And they charge 2€ just for that alone (oh, the irony). The main course was actually quite nice, but the bread was a shame to something Italy rarely misses on (additionally, no plate provided though many stacked on a banquet with vinegar and oil), and they charge 3€ for "still" water in a glass bottle that is actually tap (the inside is the lid was water stained (to be generous). I make it a point to never patronize twice a business with service so unwelcoming, then bad, and no bill provided [had to FIND staff to ask] told to go to the counter inside (bc solo eaters, despite most tables inside empty, can only eat on the patio--this should've been 1st red flag but I prefer patios). The experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Had a perfectly enjoyable Christmas Day lunch here. Tripe stew was delicious according to my friend, and I loved the fried lamb, tortellini soup, and pappardelle ragu. Fried artichokes were a little thick but used fresh oil and batter. Broccoli side was a little mushy and bland but not bad. Overall great meal and the restaurant was packed! read more

Should you go here? Yes! Worth the wait, make reservations if possible but they also do well trying to make space for walk-ins. Inside and outside dining options on a nice side street. Very busy so give them a little time after sitting. The team working we're friendly and helpful in providing recommendations. Meats and cheese plate is a must. Pair it with the focaccia. This restaurant was recommended by the concierge of the hotel, I stayed. The first time, I wanted to lunch there after 3 PM. However, the restaurant is closed between 3 PM and 7 PM. So the second time I showed up at 7 PM. The restaurant is located in a quiet alley with moderate traffic, and its interior is warm and welcoming. It seems that this place has a lot of customers, as the owner just barely managed to get me a table. After being seated I perused the menu. I was in the mood for meat, so I chose to order the Saltinbocca à la Romana, accompanied by vegetables made "au gratin". When the dish came , I was positively surprised that the saltimbocca were accompanied by some potato wedges. And that the ham on the saltimbocca was not fried crispy. (This might be just my preference and expectation) . The other thing was, that the vegetables were not fully au gratin I.e. covered in browned breadcrumbs. But other than that the dish was delicious. I liked especially the nice sauce, which I consumed at the end using two pieces of bread. read more

We had reservations confirmed since July for Oct 2024. This is our first time eating at this restaurant. Yesterday, we read a Facebook post which worried us greatly- a customer's husband had to be hospitalised after eating their tuna dish. We sent an email asking Osteria Nuvolari for more info about this incident as we want to hear their side of the story. Instead, we got a very rude, defensive and passive aggressive reply from the restaurant which basically canceled our dinner reservations. We now know that this restaurant does not care about reviews or their reputation. I know this restaurant does not need our business but it is shocking to find such poor attitude towards customers' queries. We will not recommend this place to any of our friends coming to Italy in 2025. There are many other customers who have encountered the terrible attitude of the staff and the owners of Osteria Nuvolari Rome. There are many other great restaurants in Rome that can provide better service and speak to customers more kindly and answer questions politely. Not worth spending money and time in Osteria Nuvolari. We are not the first one to write about their appalling attitude towards potential and past customers! I urge everybody to read ALL reviews and especially those that have mentioned Osteria Nuvolari's horrible attitude towards customers. read more

This was our first meal in Rome and it was simply outstanding. The ambiance was perfect. On a corner with indoor and outdoor seating. Beautiful finishes and quaint relaxing environment. The food was delicious. Pasta was cooked perfectly and the flavors were very fresh and lively. The manager/ owner seemed to be working the bar/ register and he came by at the end to check on us. We asked for his recommendation for the best dessert and he said the fruit with whipped cream was his favorite and it was excellent along with cappuccino. Highly recommend you visit this restaurant. Our tour guide that day lead us over to this nice place for lunch after our Vatican City Tour. We all had some of their white and red wines which were good. We decided to order pretty much the same thing so it would be easier and faster for our group. They brought out some fresh bread in folded paper bags which I thought was pretty creative idea. Next they brought us some deep fried tempura style battered vegetables which in my opinion were over the top with flavor. Nice to know there is a neat treat like that but it is half way around the world now that I am home in California. Next they brought us some spaghetti in some red sauce and then some large Rigatoni alla Boscaiola in a white sauce. I am not sure really what exactly it was but it was good ... see my photos.... I was visiting Nuvolari with family. To start off, the restaurant is quiet (which is nice), but it's almost a little too quiet. We were led into a back room where there was one other small group dining. The ambiance was nothing to write home about -- it ultimately was neither terrible nor great. The service was also quite OK -- neither terrible nor great. What pushed this review from 3 to 2 stars though was the food. We ordered some kind of fried anchovy dish as well as the mozzarella and grilled vegetables. Both of these were good, but the portions were really quite small, even by European standards. As for the main dish, we got the amatriciana and the carbonara. Both were very salty and, honestly, quite mediocre. The house wine was 10 euros and its quality reflected that price. I don't think I'd go back, but if you really want to go here, I wouldn't tell you to avoid it either. read more

Incredible food! This place is just outside the Vatican, so it was perfect after we finished our tour. Everything we ordered was delicious. Fried cod, meatballs, spaghetti, tuna and the best was the pici cacio de pepe! The pici was so amazing we had to order another right away! The restaurant is really quiet so it's nice to just relax and enjoy an amazing meal! read more
