Came here Saturday morning with a few friends. The location is great and it's a convenient place to stop while visiting downtown Stockholm. They have pretty affordable breakfast options and everything ranging from coffee, pastries, desserts and paninis. I ended up ordering a coffee, croissant and Swedish cinnamon bun, which totally doesn't look like a typical American cinnamon bun and was flat, wavy and curly, almost looking like a Danish but like square-ish. There was a nice, relaxing relaxing vibe with a lot of minimalistic and modern design elements. We sat at a moderately large table and ate, drank our coffees and chatted in peace. If you're in town, I definitely recommend stopping by this cafe when you're in town! It wasn't too busy either! read more

A proper coffee shop, which also serves delicious-looking breads and sandwiches. It's quite the hipsterish/stylish place, but despite this the service was rather nice and not uptight at all. In fact, when I ordered my tea, the barista gave me a little plate with that so that I can store my tea bag on there and later get a refill. The place doesn't look very big at first, but there's plenty of space in the back. In fact, if I were still a student I would've love to come here and study for my exams...in fact, I saw quite a few study groups gathering in the back and engaging in a heated debate. My favorite morning cafe in Stockholm. Get an amazing fennel or cinnamon roll and a croissant (chocolate on the weekends), orange juice, coffee if you are in a rush... But if you need something filing that's a great deal (for Sweden prices), they have half and full size panini sandwiches with amazing combinations of sliced Italian meats and cheeses on their world class sliced breads. They are insane. WiFi is free and strong, bathroom is clean, seats are comfortable, and the staff is incredibly helpful. read more

I stopped by here on a Friday afternoon around 1:30 pm for lunch/a snack while staying in the area. The café is located on a street that has a lot of different businesses, shops, and cafés. It looks very small at first, but if you go further in, there is actually a ton of seating. The café was pretty busy when I arrived--there were a lot of students studying and groups of friends chatting--but I was able to find a seat very easily. I ordered a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich, a regular black coffee, and a black currant bun for dessert. My total came out to be about 145 krona. I was able to pay with my American bank card with no issues. The sandwiches are already constructed and sitting at the front of the café, but they freshly panini press them to order. There was a variety of delicious looking pastries at the front for takeaway as well as at the main counter for dine-in. The menu is in Swedish but the staff were fluent in English and seemed very happy to explain the offerings in English. They were super nice and patient with me. I wasn't entirely clear on whether they bring you your food or if you're meant to wait around for it, but I went back to the counter after finding a seat and my food was ready to be picked up at that point. My sandwich was really tasty and I enjoyed the black currant bun--I probably wouldn't get it again because I'd like to try the other baked goods and I think black currant ultimately isn't really for me as a matter of personal taste, but I appreciated that it was well made. I stayed at the café for about an hour and was not bothered during that time; this is definitely a good place to get some studying done, have a chat with friends, or have some time to yourself. The atmosphere was very clean and minimalist, with a bit of a hipster vibe. There were unisex bathrooms--small but clean and well supplied. Again, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to bus my own dishes but as I was getting ready to leave, one of the staff happened to pop in and cleared my table for me. The staff seemed to come through intermittently to clean up other tables throughout my stay. I really enjoyed eating here; if I were local, I could easily imagine this to be an ideal place to hang out regularly. It seemed to be popular with both locals and visitors. Loved this café! Great coffee and so many cozy areas, go all the way in! A bit industrial like environment, made me dream back to the San Francisco style cafés. Had a coffee here and did some work between meetings. Perfect for this, but just to chill out with some friends works fine as well I guess! read more

This is a very cool space that has a bit of edginess to it with some of the wall art. There is a very reasonable amount of seating and each time I've been here I've seen a few people working on laptops, so it could be a good space for that. They have very good lattes and a friendly staff. When you enter, you are welcomed by some beautiful pastries as well as a section where you can get some sandwiches. You are able to order these items at the sandwich counter. They also have some of the pastries at the barista counter so you could easily order a coffee and pastry there as well. read more

Over two years later and it's still as good or even better I would say. Coffee is still top notch. So is the 'kanelbulle' and all other stuff. Almost never the same staff when I drop in, once a quarter or so, but they are all very nice and friendly people. The hiring Mgr must be one of the best in town. I just love it coffee !! read more

I am a coffee snob from San Francisco who likes (and sadly misses) Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, Contraband, Peets, etc. There, qualifications out of the way... This is THE best cafe in the neighborhood with nice tables, top notch pastries and free wifi and, at the moment anyway, no children. And if that wasn't enough, open on Sunday! Stopped here by way of a recommendation of our waiter at a nearby restaurant. It was early afternoon and buzzing with locals, tourists like ourselves, and majority of people on their laptops. Really great coffee and you can get your cup with soymilk as well. They have really good bakery and bread from the sourdough bakery Fabriqe. Its a friendly atmosphere and staff! I used to buy my coffee at the starmarked café across the street called Esaias. But I don't anymore since Il Café entered my Life:-) Also you don't get soymilk at Esaias. They only serve oatmilk. After studying in Stockholm for almost 4 months I can gladly say that this café blows all others out of the water. The pastries are delicious with a great balance of sweetness. Unlike most other cafés, their pastries are cooked perfectly and not too dry. Their espresso drinks are made with high-quality beans and never fail to disappoint. Although they have a much more popular location in the trendy area of Södermalm, this location offers much greater ambience and a friendlier staff. Be sure to stop by for a fika and try the kardemumabullar if you haven't already. read more

Il Caffe can be found in two other locations in Stockholm from what I know. The biggest advantage of the shop at Drottninggatan is probably the size. There is a lot of inside seating, specially the backside of the cafe has great lighting and tables for anyone who wants to sit and work with a laptop. It's not a place I would go to for reading since the atmosphere isn't really cosy, it would not be my first choice for meeting up with friends either. Used to be a 5-star place. Have visited them regularly since they opened in the spring 2013. Was great in the beginning, always great coffee and fast service. Now they have became quite popular and are not that great anymore. You get you coffee by the counter, but you will probably have finished it long before you get your sandwich. The sandwiches sometimes contain only some of the content described in the menu... But the staff is very friendly and nice and there is free wifi so well, we'll try it again... read more
