Every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, and weeks later I'm still dreaming about the truffle pasta. It was one of the best meals of our entire trip. The restaurant was completely packed, yet the service never missed a beat. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. Despite how busy they were, our food arrived surprisingly quickly, and everything tasted exceptionally fresh and made to order. For travelers, it was also very welcoming and easy to navigate. Several members of the staff spoke English, and an English menu was available, which we appreciated. (I'm not sure if menus were available in other languages besides English and Italian.) We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful view of the Duomo, which made the experience even more memorable. My only warning is to keep an eye on your table--there are plenty of pigeons flying around hoping to steal a crumb or two! That said, there wasn't much chance of leftovers for them to steal anyway because the food was just that good. If you're visiting Lake Como, make Da Pietro a priority. It was the highlight of our dining experiences in Italy, and I can't wait to return.

We took the funicular (cable car) to the top of the mountain and found this restaurant. The views from the restaurant can't be beat. There is indoor and outdoor seating and both offer the spectacular views. The first time we ate here, we sat outside. As the evening went on, it started to get chilly. We noticed some of the diners had blankets, presumably provided by the restaurant. They also had transparent wind blocker shades they rolled down on the side, which really helped cut down on the chilly wind. On our second visit, we sat indoors and loved that the views were just as spectacular. Our server from the first night really stood out! He was so polite and genuine. They other servers were great too but he was the most attentive. It seems like they share duties as we weren't assigned a particular server. The food is really good and the prices are reasonable for this type of restaurant. The menu posted at the entrance isn't updated - ask for the current menu if you want to preview it. The first night I ordered the pappardelle pasta with duck sauce. It's not a duck sauce but rather, pasta with huge chunks of duck! The duck was so tender and seasoned perfectly. There is no gamey taste at all, which can sometimes happen with duck. On my second visit, I ordered the lasagna with béchamel sauce. It is very different from the lasagna I'm used to. It is not tomato based and it is round instead of square! It's cooked with a light creamy, almost sweet sauce. It was delicious! Others enjoyed the truffle ravioli and the steak.

Simply put, the only thing I regret about eating here is the fact I will never be able to duplicate Italian food of this quality back in the United States.
