Rogue River Lodge At Snag Patch - Amazing sunrise from our deck

Love the beautiful views from the deck, gorgeous sunrise, watching Jerry's jet boats pass by on the river below. The grounds are beautifully maintained. They have really fixed the place up since we were there. They have added a wonderful porch that has a hot tub overlooking the river. (The river has even moved since then and is now right below the deck.) It's a great place to watch the seals, blue herons, egrets, osprey, and the sunrise over the distant hills. There is a wooden fence between each patio, so you have some privacy. Inside has been carefully remodeled to keep a cabin feel, but also give a touch of elegance. The woodwork and decor are both very nice and give the room a very cozy feeling, along with the nice gas fireplace in the livingroom area. The kitchen is simple, with a fridge and microwave, but no stove. There are a few plates, bowls, wine glasses, utensils, etc along with a small coffee pot, but the coffee given to use is just a tea bag coffee thing, so I'd recommend bringing your own. The bed was comfortable with end tables on each side. They don't have any usb plugins, but there are outlets close to the bed. There's also a dresser and small closet. The bathroom is also well appointed with a comfortable shower, small shelf for your shaving kit, a hair dryer, etc. Overall, we were very happy to see our old apartment turned into such a wonderful, relaxing resort. It brought back a lot of good memories, and we really enjoyed our stay. This is a real hidden treasure for the Gold Beach area.

The best word to describe this place is.... Whimsical. If you are looking for "unique" this is the…read moreright place for you. It starts at arrival where you park, grab a key, and use a cart to take your belongings on a short walk into the woods. The cabins are close proximity to each other but are situated in a way that allows privacy. The guest cabins are thoughtfully decorated and equipped with plenty of extra like a wine opener, a lighter for candles, plush bath robes. The romantic ambiance is easily set if that is your goal. Another short walk up a trail leads to the Guest Hall which is a comfy setting with an amazing view of the ocean. Here you will find a full kitchen at your disposal complete with cookware, spices, and some common items in the fridge. Share a meal in the spacious setting or out on the deck. When you head back to your cabin don't forget to check out the extensive DVD collection. We found everything from classics like "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" to popular Rom-Com and new releases. We borrowed several 80's classics that we hadn't seen in forever! The DVD collection can be found in the bathroom, which might sound weird but you will see when you get here that there is no space wasted in this thoughtful eco-friendly lodge. While in the bathroom be sure to check out the sink. Another detail of imaginative whimsy that depicts the creativity of the owner. Oh, do not forget to flip through a table book that recounts the history of WildSpring. It is a story filled with romance, dreams, and heartache that includes pictures of life realized. And, I cannot forget the attraction of the spa and gazebo! Set amidst the trees and driftwood sits an open air hot tub overlooking the tree line and ocean. The truly amazing thing is that it requires an appointment, meaning it's not overcrowded, you get the luxury of enjoying the relaxing experience sans strangers. It's a simple text to the host to check for availability for an hour soak. Other amenities are EV charging, radiant heated floors, roomy shower, a decent continental breakfast spread, and priceless peace and quiet amidst the old growth forest. The whimsy of the place comes with the decor spread through the walking paths. Hidden among ferns are sculptures, a walking labyrinth, meditation alcoves, creations of all sorts. Everywhere you look is a whimsical touch that makes you feel the great pride and artistic talents of the owner. It's awe inspiring if you take the time to appreciate it. One thing to note: not a great place to get work done, although I'm not sure why anyone would want to. There is wifi, but we found that most of the time it wasn't enough service to even send a text message. But, we were cool with that! This is a place to enjoy being unplugged. We have stayed here twice. In the same cabin, by chance, and have loved it. This last time, in October, we had the place to ourselves in the middle of a classic coastal storm. The wind howled at the Guest Hall and we stood and howled with it. We also got the privilege of thunder and lightning that rolled off the cliffs and gave a haunting view of the forest and sea. Truly magnificent!

It was decorated with cute whimsical items throughout the room, including little bowls and plates with agates (that I suspect were found locally from Agate Beach?). I had to tuck some of the breakables safely away so our golden retriever's wagging tail wouldn't knock anything over! I would recommend this place as a retreat if you are looking to get away from it all. Bring a book, lie in the hammock, walk through the forested short walking trails on the property and enjoy the little sculptures and other whimsical art throughout the grounds, reserve a time to soak in the hot tub and look out at the ocean and listen to the sound of the waves. At night sit out on the deck near the hot tub and look up at the night sky- so many stars, you can see the Milky Way! As I was walking to breakfast in the morning, I was surprised to see a buck just 50 feet away from me! He looked at me and I looked at him and then he sauntered away. That was cool. We paid the extra fees so that our 2 adult teen daughters could join us, so we had 2 extra pull out twin sofas for them to sleep on. They were pretty comfy for pullout sofas! But I will comment so others know- 4 people and a golden retriever is pretty darn squishy for one cabin! It also gets expensive with the extra fees for 2 extra people and a dog! Having said that, my young adult children loved this place so it was worth the squishing. They loved that they could hang out in the guest habitat (is that the right name for it?), which was the main room where breakfast is served. They have games and chess and checkers and relaxing music playing. It's secluded and quiet and I don't think they ran into any other guests while they were there. Breakfast was a very simple offering of bread (choice of bagels, croissant, or English muffin), jam, peanut butter or Nutella, hard boiled egg, instant oatmeal packages, yogurts, juices, tea, coffee, and cereal, and some basic fruit (apples, oranges, bananas). Snacks were just microwaveable popcorn and some Hershey Kisses and little mints. I appreciated their to-go bag every morning that had protein bars, a granola bar, mandarin oranges, some chocolate, and babybel cheese. If I had to offer any suggestions, I would have loved a little more variety with the breakfast and snacks (uh-for the price that we paid . . .). Maybe some fresh muffins and pastries, and a fresh fruit salad for breakfast, maybe some fresh baked cookies for snack? I just kept looking around their nice, super organized kitchen area thinking that there must be something else to nosh on! Got a cup of tea instead. And just to share an alternate perspective, my husband felt that there was not much to do here, breakfast was too basic, and Port Orford was too quiet. He also had read all of the dog rules and felt very constrained by them and was afraid to let our dog go anywhere or do anything for fear of losing the $200 security deposit. He was super careful and we got our deposit back, but I took a star away because of the way my husband felt about the place. (Bring your girlfriends and leave the husband and dog at home?)

We spent three nights here this month and definitely will be back. Jennifer, the proprietor, truly…read moregoes out of her way to make your meals and your stay as terrific as possible. Read this review, however. It's not a 5 star hotel - so know what you're getting when you reserve. As far as the cabins, they are well decorated with plenty of sleeping area. No "living room" as both rooms are made up as bedrooms. But some have a full kitchen, others a microwave and fridge. Each has a balcony out front to enjoy the scenery. These are rustic type cabins, so there is no TV. They do have electric, but don't expect phone or internet while you're here. You can expect wildlife and outdoors activities though. We made our reservations by phone. Call back if you get the machine - there's not a bunch of employees there and those that are can be busy working in the kitchen. When we reserved our room, we also reserved dinner. She DID ASK about any allergies or preferences when we booked, in contrast to a previous reviewer's rating. The meals were FABULOUS. No, there's not a menu - it's chef's choice. But if you have a preference, ask in advance and she will do what she can to accommodate you. We had three dinners. They are served family style with a salad of some type, main course (fried chicken, ribs and tri-tip were served on our nights) and sides. Our sides included corn, string beans, squash, as well as a starch like mashed potatoes with gravy option. Home made biscuits or bread are served, one day with an amazing caramelized topping. Dessert was cobbler and ice cream. There was more than enough food for everyone eating and everything had a homemade touch. Lemonade and water was served, or you could bring your own. We didn't ask for anything different. Jennifer and her team served meals for as few as 10 people and as many as 150 while we were there, and we didn't hear any complaints. She works real hard to make sure everyone is happy. The area is very out of the way. Agness is about an hour from Gold Beach and there is nothing here except a couple of lodges, an RV park and one bar / grill type restaurant. There's not a lot to do if you're not into hiking, nature watching, fishing or hanging out at the river. The Agness general store is closed right now so bring your supplies with you. The ranch itself is kind of cool. It's set up almost B&B style with your own cabin. There are board games if you have children and a living room sitting area should you choose to use it. It has an airport with a grass strip, a small lake with an old boat and car around it for decoration. It borders the Rogue River with a dock below and a rocky beach is also part of the property. There's a meadow in the center where you can look up and see the stars every night. The Gold Beach clouds don't often make it up this far and the nights were beautiful. The website could use some updating. They don't do rooms any more, just full cabins, and the rates have gone up. It was a bit confusing when we got there, as there is no "welcome" sign or anything and you feel like you're going into someone's living room. Overall, this is a great experience. It was clean, nice, friendly and the food was great. They were wonderful with our daughter allowing her to help out with clearing the table. Jennifer is working real hard to make sure everyone is taken care of. We will definitely return to this lovely ranch.

The Inn is historic and beautiful and Jack London's room was so fun to see as I fell in love with reading Jack London's stories. I enjoyed the history of the Inn, the fact that there are no televisions, the patio and balcony for guest night t to mention the games and puzzles and tables in the room where I could work on my travel art journal. Peaceful, tranquil, and in a hey setting, the Wolf Creek Inn is a place I would come back to. The restaurant/tavern is good and we ate all of our meals here. The wedge salad, Cuban sandwich and the biscuit breakfast sandwich with sausage were our favorites. Everyone is incredibly accommodating and nice who works there and we even got to chat with several of the other guests because it is a small and intimate place. When my husband and I ordered a mixed drink not on the menu, Nancy was happy to mix it up for us. When we asked for recommendations for places to walk, we got some amazingly beautiful walks within the area. If I'm ever back here, I would be overjoyed to stay again! Thank you for a relaxing pause on our vacation!
