This is also the site of various community events and gatherings. Great park that feels safe and has plenty for anyone. It's located conveniently close to the Metra station and many local businesses. The park also has more than sports facilities such as a playground and some picnic tables.

It features a picnic pavillion available for parties, grilling areas, picnic tables, clean bathrooms, volleyball court, beach / swimming area and boat dock. For kids, there are a couple of play areas in the park as well as swing sets and jungle gyms on the sand in the beach area. There is also a separate shallow swimming area just for small children. The sandy beach has clear waters - you can see the minnows swimming right around your feet, and the lake is very calm due to the boat motor restriction. I haven't seen a bad sunset yet. I love coming here and appreciate how the residents keep it clean. I do wish more residents would follow the "no dogs on the beach rule" though; the signs are clearly posted, but people sometimes allow their dogs to run unleashed in the swimming area. There are picnic tables and trash bins by the entrance of the trail. When you enter, there is a dock for fishing. You must be licensed to fish if you are over the age of 16. There is also a bike trail, but I didn't get a chance to check that out. I believe the walking trail is about a mile long. You could also walk your dog. They conveniently have doggy bags at the beginning of the trail as well. There is also a bathroom area next to the parking lot. The walking trail itself is pretty, but nothing amazing. You do go under some big electric posts. When we were walking, they were buzzing which was a little scary for me. The last thing I'll add is be careful where you step. Some people aren't considerate enough to pick up after their dogs. Other than that, it's a nice place to go for a walk. It's not a place I would go out of my way to see.

Soon I'll be able to see everyone back home and visit all the places dear to my heart. Eichelman Park is one of those places. Kenosha is situated right on Lake Michigan and offers incredible, easily accessed parks and beaches. Complimentary parking is abundant, which is unheard of in Chicago. I marvel at the innocence of this park. Always clean and less visited, the sand, grass and foliage is always perfectly cared for. I often times see families enjoying a small picnic and beach glass hunters slowly roaming the edge of the water. There are homes across the street with perfect views to this great lake, park and beach. Wouldn't it be wonderful to wake up each morning to a sunrise peaking above the horizon? Situated next to the downtown shopping area and just north of Allendale neighborhood filled with elegant old mansions, it is a perfect oasis to relax without a crowd. The vintage beauty called the Kemper Center is next door as well. The general area is just exquisite. I often stop by when I am in town, no matter what the weather is offering. It is just lovely in all four seasons. This park and beach is certainly worth a visit for a picnic, swim or photos.

What a nice festival! I'm so accustomed to ultra-crappy local festivals - you know, where there's a…read moregiant open field or blocked-off street with a stage, generic carnival rides and non-local food vendors, and no place to sit down or escape the sun. Gurnee Days is not that kind of festival. This thing is HUGE, and it's free - no admission or parking fees. I went on Sunday for the Scoop the Loop car show (a great variety of 122 cars - nice job guys!) and was shocked at the number of vendors set up in small tents - easily 100 or more in the lovely tree-shaded area off Old Grand Avenue. We just missed the parade, but there was music at the band shell. I didn't check out the carnival rides or food vendors, but there seemed to be plenty of both. We saw a petting zoo and a bags tournament and tons of activities for kids. I will definitely consider coming on Saturday next year for the rib fest and fireworks. It's a great atmosphere that manages to be both small town and large scale. The activities are spread out over a spacious enough area that people aren't packed in and sweating on each other. And there are places to sit down! According to their website, the annual festival is held the second full weekend in August. Check it out next year!

Abundant parking is available for sightseeing or museum visits but is not intrusive to the aesthetics to the area. Interesting statues and artwork adorn the park. Views of the harbor, lake and lighthouse create a gorgeous backdrop for postcard worthy photos. Sometimes you will see the vintage trolley roll by. The weekly farmers market brings tons of visitors and locals to this area. Walkers are dotted along the path next to the harbor. Sit and sip your latte from Harborside Common Grounds along the waterfront. So many things to do near here. This is a must stop on my visits to Kenosha!

I love this lake and park…read more. Our church has been coming here for their annual picnic/baptism ceremony, the past several years.. I have been along the past three years and have really enjoyed hanging out here each time. The park is beautiful and maintained very well, the amenties are generous for being a public park. there is a small charge of course, but it is worth it. The beach is clean, the lake is beautiful, and the swimming area is very safe, albeit a bit shallow, but great for toddlers and pre-teens to play and cool off on a hot summer day. Hungry?? the field house offers snacks and light food, such as hot dogs, chips, soda, ice cream. Or, you can bring along a BBQ grill or use the grills provided and whip up something you toted along. Grab a spot by one of the many picnic tables and relax. There are some real nice walking paths for those of you that enjoy soaking up nature and hiking thru the prairie. Great place to snap some nature pics or give the kids a nature tour. I would give this place five stars if they put the volleyball nets back up.. but that is just me just feeling a bit disappointed we were unable to play beach volleyball..
