WE had our home painted in September 24 by this firm. Hector was the crew manager of the painting crew. Hector , not only paid attention to every detail, but also he is a perfectionist. Hector even assisted us with paint colors. We think our home has the best paint job in the neighborhood. They did not paint over any problems. We were notified of any problems, and the crew corrected the problems. Each day they cleaned up and left supplies in a neat manner. I hired IM painting to paint my 1400 sq ft home and overall did an exemplary job. The crew of 2 painters (Daryl and Junior) arrived promptly each day and had exceptional knowledge and were so kind. They prepped the surfaces, filling in holes or imperfections in the walls, sanding down rough surfaces, and cleaning away any dust or debris before painting. This crew was extremely skilled at painting- especially around windows, baseboards, and doors. They expertly rolled the doors to minimize visible marks. These doors look custom and like a million bucks. The paint mixture was precisely mixed to perfection and it gave the whole house a uniform fresh look. After the job was complete, they thoroughly cleaned up the supplies and equipment. They ensured all paint was removed. The time they took to ensure such precision was unmatchable. IM Painting's owner, Bob, emailed and requested an opportunity to meet and update, via a 3rd estimate, the scope of work that I had requested. He was friendly, helpful and informative regarding the initial estimates. He explained that the first estimator was having difficulty navigating the software involved in completing an estimate. Bob took his time to remeasure the areas involved in the estimate which included repairing some ceilings and walls prior to prepping and painting a master bedroom, master bathroom, guest bathroom and a small kitchen wall. His estimate was 13% less than the first 2 estimates. I elected to contract the work through another company but appreciated the opportunity to meet with Bob and to have the estimate corrected. read more

Bob the owner took his time to personally walk my job multiple times along with Scott the estimator and supervisor. There were a lot of stucco cracks and caulking to do. Lots of prep. They did an excellent job and put up with my pre-warned attention to detail. They also did a great job on my neighbors house as well after mine. I would use no one else. You've got a successful customer service oriented team to make sure you are 100% happy. My neighbor is finishing his pool and I hope IM is back to do his house too. **UPDATE 10/12/17, Bob came to take care of cracks that were not prepped prior original paint, he sent out stucco guys to take care of it and fixed free of charge** Great customer service. So glad we chose IM Painting to paint all of the interior doors and casings in our home. We also had them change all of the hinges on these doors since we were updating all of the door hardware . We requested bids from a few different companies, and decided to go with IM's bid, which seemed pretty fair. They are fully insured and bonded as well. Jose, Rollo and team showed up on time every day. There was a lot of prep to protect our home and belongings and they were very diligent about cleaning everything up at the end of every day. IM Painting was one of the three contractors I had provide me with a quote to repaint my house exterior. The quote seemed thorough and well written, although I did get a vague sense that the man providing the quote, Bob, seemed a touch arrogant. In the end, I chose to go with another painter. This is where things got weird, and what prompted me to write this review. A representative from IM Painting followed up with me and I let them know of my decision. Okay, fine. But then a few hours later, I got another phone call, this time from Bob himself. I explained my decision to him as well. At this point, he proceeded to tell me all the reasons why I had made the wrong decision, pointing out all the things he thought were wrong about the other painter. This behavior struck me as extremely unprofessional. I won't give IM Painting a one-star (my knee-jerk reaction) because like I said, the quote itself seemed professional and since they didn't paint my house, I can't really judge them on their ability in that regard. But still, my experience reinforced in my mind that I had made the right decision to choose someone else. read more

This was an easy review to write, why, because unlike so many contractors, IM painting gets it. Lets see: The quote was an actually written quote, not numbers scribbled on the back of a business card. The price did not go up, the price quoted was the price we paid. The sales person, Bob, actually turned up on time, wasn't covered in old paint, and knew what he was talking about. They are actually insured, licensed, legal, and provided references. When the workers left, the only sign they had been there was nice fresh paint on the walls, not everywhere else! The colors I asked for were the ones I got. The "President" , Ken, came to my home, was very nice and spent 50 minutes measuring things and going over my entire home with ideas for necessary improvement. He said that as a general contractor he could do everything from fireplace, tile, woodwork, and paint. He smiled, shook my hand, and as he left, he promised to have a detailed, written proposal to me within a few days or less. I would check my email for it. I was very excited, did not meet or speak with any other contractors, and checked my email regularly, as instructed by him. WHAT A FLAKE !!!! I never received anything in writing, never got a phone call with an update or at least a "thanks but no-thanks" from him, NOTHING. When I called him after the end of 3 business days, our call was disconnected and when I dialed back HE DIDN"T ANSWER AND NEVER CALLED ME BACK! RUDE / DISRESPECTFUL / UNGRATEFUL. He left me hanging for 4 days and burned a week of my summer vacation time waiting around on him to follow through on his commitment, which HE NEVER DID FOLLOW THROUGH WITH. I live in Woodbury Village in Irvine, and I had multiple areas of the house painted, including front and side doors, garage door, stucco along bottom of the exterior, 5 interior areas including 3 require drywall repair. I got estimates from 3 companies, IM painting was the most organized and, overall, most reasonable in price. They were clearly the most acclaimed in terms of reviews and awards. The job was a tricky and we had particular expectations, and we called them to let them know how we wanted certain areas done better or done differently, and they had a great attitude in saying that they would send the painters back to work on it again and make sure it was done right. They came back two or three times and I am very happy with how it turned out. Josue is the name of the painter, Scott was the person who gave us the estimate, Maimu is the office manager. I'm not one to quickly post negative reviews, but this left a bad taste in my mouth. I sought 4 quotes from painters for the re-painting of the exterior of a rather large home. I met with John Logsdon who walked around the house with me. We discussed prep, colors and all the details that would go into the job. Of every contractor I met with, I was most impressed with IM Painting. They gave me a really nice package of information about their services. Lots of knowledge and a passion for what they do. He told me that a quote would be sent to me within the week so I could present it to the architectural committee of our neighborhood for approval. I was prepared to go with them on what would be a $10,000.00 paint job. That's where my dealings with IM Painting ended. No quote was provided. No follow up calls. No return email. I then called IM painting and tried to reach someone. No luck. I have no idea what happened. Was the surf good that week? Did John get sick? Did the whole company close its doors? I have no idea. Anyhow, they get one star for the presentation and meeting, but nothing for anything else. Really disappointing. I have no idea how the ball could be dropped so badly. In the end, the house was painted and it looks good. IM Painting's loss is some other contractor's gain. read more

IM did a very nice job on a relatively straightforward exterior painting project for me. John did the estimating, and was very helpful in showing me the options I requested, and was fine with only doing the basic work that I wanted. Their price was in the middle of the range of my other estimates for the work they did, although it was somewhat high for the additional work. I got the impression they work on the mid- to high end - John was very focused on quality. Joe (the foreman) and his assistant painter were excellent. The work was quick, neat, high quality, and just what I wanted. I wasn't around most of the time, but dropped in and out and was impressed that they were focused on getting the work done. Joe was very professional throughout, and answered my questions thoroughly. My only mild complaint is that the communication before the job was a little spotty - I had to initiate most of it. Again, this wasn't a complicated job, and I didn't have a lot of questions, but there were times that I got a little nervous that they were actually going to show up. Overall, I would definitely use them again, and recommend them (at least John and Joe) to others. read more

IM Painting updated my staircase with a beautiful rich brown accented with white spindles and white stringers on the side of the staircase, the trends were done in the rich brown color. It was a tremendous amount of work because of the two colors being next to each other, but the edges were very crisp and defined with no bleeding together! Of the 6 painters who came out to our house to submit their bid, only IM Painting took up the challenge. Not only did Bob Belhumeur (owner) delivered what he promised, the painter he sent did a very detailed, meticulous job, on schedule. With an architect mindset, I clearly laid out my requirements: spray and back-roll 2 coats (1st coat dry then apply 2nd coat) of Benjamin Moore Aura (@$66+ per gallon) on the entire house, except glass panes and roof tiles. Aura is a finicky paint to apply outdoor, especially spray-and-backroll on a dry summer day. Only the most seasoned, experienced painters dare to take up this challenge, yet charging competitively. Following is factual response of the other 5 painters upon learning my specifications: Cer__Pro Tustin: low $bid but no response after learning usage of Aura paint; Ka_ma Hou_e: average $bid but no response after learning usage of Aura paint; _enak: overestimated paint quantity by 2X (at least 40 gallons on 2200 sf 2-storey house); Slo_ne Painting: said 60 gallons (3X) of paint needed to paint house twice (his interpretation of 2 coats of spray-and-backroll); yet chose not to bid on this challenging project; Missi_n Viej_ Painting: $bid twice that of IM Painting + cost of paint. He worked with me on the quote to determine what work could be done given my budget and there were no surprises. His team was professional, clean and nice- and they did a great job, they went back over any spots that needed fixing and made sure I was completely happy with the work. They had to patch several areas and fix holes and you can no longer tell where the walls needed to be fixed.
