I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I've seen such drastic improvements that I genuinely feel like I have a new baseline. I feel so much more in control of my anxiety now and honestly like a completely different person than I was just a few months ago. It's been truly life changing. The receptionists do seem pretty busy and always doing something, but I think they have a lot to stay on top of and are trying their best. I've seen some pretty interesting people in the office and the receptionists are always very kind and patient with these people. Moreover, I've recently been having issues with post-partum and have had to go in more often. If I can't wait till my next appointment and need to come in sooner, the receptionist takes my name down and calls me as soon as there is a cancellation - this is normally a matter of a day. I've never had that efficient of service in any other doctor's office. A few people commented that they think the staff just hands out pills and sends you on your way, which is a little misleading. There are some staff members who specifically deal in just medication management - not therapy. In fact, most psychiatrists are not therapists. Yes, they listen to see what is going on, but their role is not to counsel you like a therapist would. However, I have found this staff to go above and beyond when need be. II have been seeing Pat Senior since I began and for years I really only needed medication management; what I was doing worked, and we only needed to check in every few months to make sure it was still working. This could easily be done in a 15 minute appointment. However, since having my baby nine months ago, I have struggled a lot to get back on course. Pat meets with me every other week and goes far beyond just throwing pills at me. Yes, she tries to adjust my medication to find something that will work but that's what her job is. Even though her role is not to be a talk therapist, she still listens to me and gives me other ways to handle my issues without resorting to medicine. In terms of advertisements in a doctor's office, this office has no more ads than any other modern medical office. They all have signs and brochures for different products. They don't push any of these products on you; the information is just there for the taking. I'm also not sure what happened with the person who couldn't find seating. They give you papers or the tablet to fill out and you can sit on their numerous couches or chairs in the waiting room. I really think this is an excellent place to receive help. If you call and there is a wait to get in, it's because there are so many people who want to work with this staff.

It indicated that it was for a surgical procedure. But I never had surgery. If this procedure were performed at my local Reliant office, I would not have a $250.00 co-pay. AND THIS WAS NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME BEFORE THE VISIT. Otherwise, the visit would have been covered by my insurance. Or at least be much less than the $426 I was billed. I called to get more information and to ask for assistance as with winter being here, $426 could purchase nearly 100 gallons of heating oil. No such luck. I was forced into maxing out my card in order to pay $375 of the $426 I owed. Even though this means that I won't be able to adequately heat my home this season. They happily took what I have left in my account leaving $2.77 and offered nothing but to extend the payment period. If I don't have the money now, I won't have it later either. Now I need to call my oil supplier and have them stop automatic delivery as I have no way to pay for it. I think it ironic that a hospital named after a Christian saint is more interested in bill collection than those who must choose between a life necessity and keeping bill collectors at bay. I wonder if the hospital would allow me to sleep in their atrium.
