I've been debating making this review since I got my hair cut here by Claudia a couple weeks ago. Debbie the owner was incredibly nice and helpful but this was after Claudia gave me the worst haircut I've ever received and I was sobbing in the chair. Just recently I went to Image & Design for a trim. I have short hair & just wanted to get a trim done. The person who cut my hair was very nice & did a great job. However... when I went to leave, I was charged $95.00 for a trim. (WHAT?!?) I didn't say anything but thought as I left, "I've never been charged that much for a trim & I've been coming here for years." Even for a haircut. $95.00? The place has changed a lot these past few years. It used to be very busy w/stylist being booked out months in advance & now... not so much. I don't know if I'll be back for I can't justify $95.00 for a trim. I'll leave that up for others to decide for themselves. read more

Over all I have this place one star because even though the customer service was good it just seemed like my lady had no idea what she was doing. The worst part was I had gone in and asked for only 2-3 inches cut off but she's ended up cutting off over 5!!! I was very disappointed and for $75 was definitely not worth it, the back of my hair wasn't even at the end of it either I had to come home and have my mom cut it to make it look even. Went in for a balayage and was left with bright orange and brassy hair. My hair has never looked this way before. The appt took 5hrs. The hairstylist toned it three times and looked lost. They had me come back to fix it and "cancel the orange out". My hair still looked horrible with random orange spots everywhere. Horrible! No refund for their mistake. The hairstylists are very inexperienced. I now have to go to a different salon to fix my hair. My hair now feels very dull and over processed. Save your time and money. ***This review is solely for the customer service I received after my botched and brassy orange, I mean blonde. First time I walked in to inquire about appointments, in October I was taken right away. The lady that did my hair was newish not at doing hair but at the salon, and I was desperate to get my roots done. I didn't ask around for recommendations for a stylist in the area, I just dove in. I was very appreciative that Heidi found a spot for me asap with her new stylist. My stylist was rough with my scalp, and my roots were definitely a lot darker and didn't match the lower hair and a little brassy, but it was my first time here so I didn't want to sound bratty. The cost hurt a little especially since I wasn't ecstatic about my hair. But life went on. 8 weeks later: I had an appointment with the same lady. Again she was rough with my scalp and VERY rough while de-tangling my hair this time around. It hurt to watch her in the mirror mistreat my hair and see it just breaking off into the brush while wet. I grimaced and moaned in hopes that she would take notice and adjust her heavy hand, but no. I left with ORANGE I mean ORANGE hair!! I was offered another appointment to correct it, but I declined for three reasons. 1. I am incredibly busy. 2. I do not want to over process my hair. 3. quite frankly I am terrified it will get effed up again. The look is terrible on me, since I have an olive skin tone so my hair line and skin seem to blend in. Later the following day by phone, I was again offered to correct it. I reluctantly accepted, because I was still disappointed over my oompa loompa look. I ended up having to cancel anyway because like I previously said I am very busy and had to meet with several contractors. Heidi is an angel and treated me with the utmost respect and genuinely cares to make her clients happy. I am now living with brassy orange hair, for the next few weeks until I figure something out. My stylist will remain unnamed because other than my bad experience I am sure she is a great stylist... just not for me. I literally drive all the way down from San Francisco to get my hair done by here because there is no one in a 100 mile radius that can do blonde hair like her. My hair is delicate and fragile but I've been able to keep a beautiful, frosty platinum blonde AND long as all hell. Kristina is an artist and takes amazing care of my hair each visit. She makes the best recommendations on what to do when I come in and is honest when she thinks I need a trim or to do a full or partial highlight. I leave the salon looking and feeing flawless every time. I cannot recommend her enough to anyone who loves their hair and wants it looking healthy and fabulous. I recommend Sheena Capen! I had two appointments in this salon, one not exactly what I wanted and the other perfect. Long story short, I have let my hair grow after a terribly brassy balayage ombre experience. I cut my own hair before my first appointment so I can't speak for their haircuts. But I came in for a walk in appointment with a picture of an ashy balayage ombre and got a free stylist. I ended up saying that I just wanted to get my hair toned first, and that I didn't want as many warm tones in my hair. She mentioned something about matching my root color (a dark dark brown that looks black) and coloring over my top section of hair that was a orange brown and then toning my lighter hair. So that all happened but when she was drying my hair it ended up being more of an warm brown with warm caramel tips. While it looked presentable, it wasn't what I wanted. I left the salon not really satisfied with my hair color, the highlights towards the top of my hair all covered and gone - the only thing I did like was how she curled my hair. I was hesitating for two weeks about coming back to see another colorist just because I didn't want to go the same place, with the other stylist there and plus my faith in the salon wasn't that strong. But I went back (mainly due to how close it is to my house) and this time booked an appointment with another colorist I had seen working during my first appointment, Sheena Capen. I booked a color correction and a deep conditioning treatment. The stylist that previously did my hair was there and clearly saw me getting my hair done by someone else but she was very polite and professional - didn't address me or look at me too long. Sheena however was extremely talkative and friendly (I'm a quiet person for the most part) so I appreciated that. And she was sure to look at the picture, and listen to what I wanted. She's also a fan of ashy tones so I knew that I at least wasn't going to get a warm color on my head. I asked for completely black roots, and kind of balayage ombre with brown tips, and I told her I hated warm tones in my hair. She foiled up my hair, asked my opinion on it, asked before spreading the darkness farther done, I felt like she was very careful to try to get it to something I wanted. Plus she gave me suggestions for shampoo, general hair care, etc. My hair ended up toning completely ashy and not as fried as usual thanks to the hair mask she gave me. I was a little afraid about it being too light compared to my roots/just not liking it after a few days when it was all done and styled but Sheena assured me to come back if I wanted it darkened or toned differently. But I love it and the service was probably one of the best coloring services I've gotten done (which is about four but still). Also the front desk receptionist (I believe she's also the owner?) was very nice, especially when I asked for Sheena's name right after my service with the other girl. But yeah, I feel like Sheena doesn't get as much love in these reviews so I made an account just to write one! read more

Go get your hair done (cut, colored, styled) by Lacey Gorman. I just got my hair cut yesterday and she uses amazing hair products that make your hair smell and look good. I bought some hair gel that doesn't leave my hair feeling sticky or stiff. I asked Lacey to give me a curl tutorial because I'm always wanting those beachy waves but don't exactly know how to get them and get frustrated whenever I try myself and give up. She really took the time to show me, then watch my technique, and correct me. She's an awesome teacher. The first time I went here I was treated to a color correction with Kaitlyn and she was amazing! She lightened it up in one try and my orange hair was a beautiful champagne blonde. I went back 2 years later in December 2016 for a balayage with my natural born dark hair and this time it was with Bria. She did a good job but we had to schedule a second session to get it lighter since it's hard to get dark hair to look blonde. The price came out to $150 since I got a haircut as well. My 2nd appointment was last week with Bria and I expected a nicer blonde color like Kaitlyn helped me get but I just did not like how it turned out. I understand that lightening dark hair can be difficult but the color was more lighter when I went in then when I came out of there. Now I'm stuck trying to tone carrot orange hair with purple shampoo. Another thing that was kind of annoying was that I was charged $150 again, which was weird because usually second sessions which are meant to lighten the original color a little more are supposed to be cheaper, and this time I did not get a haircut. I asked them about this but they just told me that on the brochure their balayage were $165 and that I was "discounted" both times, but a discounted price of $15 for a second session is really pathetic. All in all, I would recommend Kaitlyn. I'm not sure how well she is at balayages, but she's great at correcting bad ombree's! read more

I have been going to Kristina Fortuna since we moved to the Bay Area in 2013. I actually started going to her because of a review that I read on Yelp. I tend to be really picky about who I allow to touch my hair, but since I was new to the area, and did not have anyone personally to ask for referrals, I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad that I did! She does does such an amazing job. I usually will show her a photo of what I want as far as color and cut, and she'll make it happen. Although there was one time I went in there and asked for her to dye my hair black. I believe it was my 2nd or 3rd appointment. She advised against it, and explained to me how difficult it is to get it out once we go that dark. My natural hair color is dishwater blonde, but I've always liked having it dyed a lighter blonde or with blonde highlights. My husband asked me to try black though. Instead she suggested we do a dark brown to see how I liked it, and if I found that I did, we could do the dark black later. Boy am I so glad she did that because a dark color with my fair complexion just didn't go well, at least not in my opinion. I loved the dark brown color and the style she did, so I kept it, but decided that the next time I got it done I wanted to go back to blonde. I've been back to her a couple times since then, and she got it back to the lighter color for me without any issues. I love knowing that I can go to a hairstylist who gives me her honest opinion, and always has me leaving as a very happy client. She is very personable too, so when I go I feel comfortable. If you want someone who does an amazing job and pays close attention to her clients best interest, I highly recommend her! A few months ago, I had made a random appointment to get ombré done. I was scheduled with Kristina. I'm always nervous when it comes to doing my hair but Kristina gave me a great experience, thankfully! My first time in, I had asked for ombré had an idea of what I wanted and Kristina was able to accomplish that perfectly. She did such an amazing job, she absolutely knows what she's doing and is very fast and efficient. I loved it so much, I decided at that point that she would be my go to hairstylist. As of yesterday, I went back to extend my ombré higher and go much lighter than last time. She gave me some suggestions of also adding a few pieces of lighter shades in the front so we decided to incorporate that. I appreciate her suggestion because I'm so happy with how it turned out. The color is great! She also had given me a trim as well as stirring me in the right direction of taking care over dry/processed hair which was wonderful to know. $150 might be a little steep for a cut and color, but you get what you pay for. I'm extremely happy with the service offered here. My stylist is Misty. She spent a good 2.5 hrs with me as a first time customer. I gave her creative control over my hair and told her to go for it. The result is the best cut i've ever had!! The salon was busy but all the stylists were very friendly. Misty offered wine and water while I sat and let her do her magic. The color is great, I'm extremely happy with it. Heads up, Misty only takes cash or check, no cards. So be prepared. She was sure to book our next appt before I left the salon that day. She told me the price range of my next appt so I'd be prepared. I can't wait to go back and see what she does for highlights.
