Best place ever!! I have been coming here back when I was attending School in Berkeley. I have moved to other areas in the bay but I still like to come here twice a week for wash and shampoo. I came in for layers and to get my bangs trimmed. Unfortunately, I will have to pin my bangs back for weeks to come. Layers: The shortest layer was too short considering my hair is pretty long but I can live with the style of the layers cause although the look wasn't what I expected, the cut was okay and the stylist paid attention to detail. Bangs: I absolutely hated my bangs trim. The stylist did not cut my bangs all at one length on purpose because she said it looks unnatural (even though I asked for straight across, all at one length and brought in a picture) so instead some pieces of hair in my bags are about 1-2cm shorter than others. I'd brought in a picture and my bangs looked nothing like that in the end. I probably won't go back because of the experience and because I'm cheap (I paid $40 here for a shampoo, cut and blow dry and know of many places that charge me $25) but I also don't want to tear down a small business. There were many positive aspects to my visit. THE POSITIVE: Overall the haircut was comfortable and the two people there (Kim and the stylist who cut my hair) were really nice. The non bangs part of the haircut was okay and it seems like the stylist put a lot of attention to the cut, the location is convenient and they accept walk ins. read more

Really good service. Both ladies were super nice, but I got way overcharged. I got the keratin treatment and a simple haircut and it came out to $210. She did have to use a little more product on me and take longer blow drying/ straightening, but i will not be going back. Their price for keratin is around $120, but I still don't see how things added up to that price. read more

I called beforehand to ensure this salon participated in Locks of Love and they said they did and asked what time I wanted to come in that day. I came in shortly after and she cut 14 inches off so it ended up just above my shoulders. They said I would have to take the rubber banded hair and mail it in myself. At the end, I gave her a $20 tip since I thought I would be receiving a free haircut. She then told me my hair cut would be $45 dollars but after complaining that they said they did Locks of Love haircuts. She then said she would give me a $5 discount. I was displeased because I wouldn't have tipped $20 if I knew I would have to pay extra for this haircut. I ended up spending on $60 on a haircut I initially thought would be free. I came here to get my eyebrows waxed and now I'm sorry I did. I am one of those lucky people who have thick eyebrows. I told the woman that I like them thick and that I like to keep the hair over the arches. Not only did she make them thin, but she didn't keep the hairs over the arches. She trimmed them so much and completely straight across. To make matters worse, the brows are totally different and unsymmetrical. Now it will take at least two months for them to grow out so they look normal again. I am so angry. Lesson learned, if you're paying $12 to get your eyebrows waxed, there's probably a reason. read more

I went there today for the second time after more than two months and the owner immediately remembered me by name. I have short hair so I needed to get a slight trim again. As I was slightly sweaty because of the hot weather, I decided to go with shampooing and she included a head massage which was absolutely great. I'm normally not too fuzzy with my hair, so I try to avoid high end saloons where the haircut takes forever. This place is great and I can't imagine that I would look any better after a haircut for triple the price. Don't expect lengthy discussions about your haircut. My 12 yr old son needed a haircut for his next day choir performance. Usually, his dad cuts his hair with mostly ok results, but it was late evening and neither one of them was looking forward to a home-made hair cutting experience. We saw the "Open" sign on the salon's door as we were driving by, and decided to try it out. It was well after the official closing time, but Kim was still there. The place was spotless, and we were the only customers as it was quite late. My son's hair is VERY thick, but she managed to shape it very nicely and we were all very satisfied with the cut. Love this place! I always come here for my hair cut. I don't know the name of the hairdresser that does it (she's an Asian lady), but she's super friendly and really does it the way I like. If I tell her I want 1" off, she'll take 1" off. If I tell her I want half an inch, that's what'll she'll take off - she's not like those (unfortunately too common) hairdressers that you tell them clearly "Look, I only want to remove half an inch" and then they chop off 3 inchs because in their opinion it was the best thing to do for your hair! She usually charges me either 1) 15$ (if my hair is already washed and dry) or 2) 30$ if on addition to the cut, I need to get a wash, blow out and straightening. Very reasonable prices! I highly recommend it for the haircut. I've been at least 8 times; and was never disappointed. I also did waxing one time there - it was ok, but I'm not sure I liked it as much as the haircut. You could see the wax she used was super cheap (maybe it's b/c I'm used to European Wax Center, which is really amazing and the best wax ever). Apart from the wax, I was a bit puzzled by the fact that she did not wear gloves while doing my brazilian bikini. But apart from that, my waxing was good. read more

The lady here was really really nice! Super friendly and the price was great - $20. I walked in she was cutting my hair two minutes later, no waiting! She was good at listening to what I wanted - a simply trim job, but I needed about 4 inches taken off. She did exactly that and still kept the length long. I would have given her 5 stars but when I got home there was one section of hair still an inch longer than the rest. I snipped it off myself and everything looked fine. I'm sure I could have gone back and asked her to fix it, but it was a minor thing and everything else was pretty even. So for $20, I will totally be going to her for all my hair cut needs!
