I made it quite clear what I was interested in and how much I was prepared to pay (without any up charges). after waiting all day at home, the technician tried to upsell me, which I politely declined. he then said that the job would cost approximately $100 more than originally quoted over the phone due to the "material of the carpet"- mind you, it is a standard 8x12 carpet and I could just buy a new one from Amazon for the amount they wanted me to spend. I apologized for wasting the technicians time but was unwilling to pay almost $200 for a basic carpet cleaning when you can rent a steam vac from Home Depot for $40. he called his "boss" who said he told me over the phone initially it was a "free estimate" for someone to come down. never was that explained and I had also made sure to ask about the total cost in advance so that there were no surprises. it was not the technicians fault but it was a big waste of all of our time. additionally, the guy was subcontracted did not even come in a Stanley steamer truck. this seems shady and unsettling. will never call or recommend Stanley steamer again. We decided it wouldn't be a "real" Friday night unless we had a little night on the town. We started our night at Barcelona which is quite an impressive place but a bit too formal for the likes of us. So we began to hit some spots "off the grid." During this adventure, my friend John ended up having a little too much whiskey. HA, we decided to let him doze off at the bar while we continue to party away. By the time we went home, we had to "man handle" John over the shoulder and into his parent's place! Trying to be sneaky as to not wake them from their sleep John decided now would be a good time to wake up and hurl all over the brand new carpet. Ever seen what pasta, wine, beer and whiskey look like all mixed up and coming back up? Well, it's not pretty. In an attempt to keep the whole thing quiet (or at least we thought) we decided to search for carpet cleaners immediately. We filled out the form on West Hartford Carpet Cleaners website and got an email response within an hour or so! This guy is dedicated! He said to call him ASAP at 6:30 am and he would squeeze us in before the first job of the day. When they arrived, Johns parents were still sound asleep as was most of the crew. For me... Well, I don't drink so I woke up and got the cleaners inside. Unfortunately, when they started to work Johns parents came flying downstairs to see what the noise was and saw the cleaners.. and the mess. Luckily, the stain and mess was all cleaned and the damage to Johns wallet was minuscule. All was right with the world again!
