Plenty of seating and anywhere you sit you will get a good view and good acoustic means you can hear the priest clearly . Mass are available in English and Spanish and with the many services it means no excuses due to your schedule. I was struck by how wonderful the interior of the church is and from the design I bet it's very old . Glad I came to attend Sunday mass with a family friend and I didn't get bored or fall asleep.

Very dramatic with delicate carvings and hand painted details on the beams. I found it quite unique. The stained glass windows are also beautiful but on par with other churches. The cantor during the mass is a young man with a really lovely voice. Apparently, he sings in all of the Sunday masses. It's nice to see young people so involved. The church has a small parking lot in the back and is situated in a nice quiet neighborhood. The church, rectory, convent and school take up the huge block. I highly recommend coming here to experience the church and to attend a mass.

We also love Sister Carla and the priests are always friendly and approachable- so refreshing. This is what a church community looks and feels like. The energy is good, uplifting and warm and they have two areas for musicians to enrich the mass. It really is quite beautiful. If you want to go, enjoy a good worship experience and an intellectually stimulating message, and you consider yourself a traditional evangelical, this place is fine. You have to be careful if you're looking for a place to build long-term friendships. This place is highly judgmental and polarized. If you rock the boat you won't last long. There are many refugees especially from the worship team - people who got burned out, victimized in particular by the worship pastor (Peter), and eventually excluded from everything because they questioned anything. Assertive, strong women are usually ostracized, unless their husbands are in leadership. If you dare to open up about political issues, some faction of the church will open fire on you. A special note for my LGBTQ friends. You are always welcome, and they are more than willing to help you "overcome" your non-binary, non-cis-gendered issues to be the best version of yourself (note sarcasm).

St George's is the oldest Church in Astoria and was originally built a few blocks away on Astoria Blvd. If you are a tourist in the area, they are well worth a visit.

I approach church with some trepidation, but nobody expects you to pretend you believe "six impossible things before breakfast." (Can you identify the original source of that quotation?) Another plus: this church has been through lots of transitions, just as the neighborhood has. Rather than developing a fortress mentality, they're wide open to adapting to the needs of new members. I felt that I belonged almost from the moment I walked (with more than a little apprehension) through the door.
