Had a positive experience with Max Electric and everything went smoothly. Both the initial…read moreinspection (unfortunately didn't get the name of who did it) and the actual work were great. Rigo did a great job with the 3 things I had done: replacing an electrical panel, replacing 2 light fixtures, and installing a smoke alarm. He was on time, knowledgable, and efficient. I don't think it is necessarily the cheapest option around but with something like this, quality and experience matters and they did a great job and handle permits and such. They did exactly what I asked them to do and were responsive over email and able to ask the exact questions they needed which made things seamless. This is not necessarily a bad thing but they could have probably done some kind of "walk through" around the place and found some additional work for me. Upselling is obviously not always a great practice but in my case, there were some things that I wish I had done and I think they could have suggested them and left it up to me to say yes/no to during the initial inspection. For example my kitchen could definitely use at least 1 additional outlet, I should have probably replaced a 3rd light, and so on. I do respect that they don't try to take you on a ride but since it is probably efficient to do things all at once, may have been helpful to discuss (this was also my bad for not noticing these things before). Rigo did a bunch of smaller things that made a big difference too like taking out the packaging for the lights and the old ones as well as the old electrical panel, clearly labeling all the switches very neatly which was not well done before, answering my questions and explaining things in a way that I (someone with little knowledge about most of this stuff) would understand.

Tech showed up and pointed at stuff and tried to scare us into a $20,000 whole house rewiring job…read more Then offered to rewire a working outlet for $700 (going rate is like $250) but said that he couldn't do it for more than a week. Told us we wouldn't be charged for his time but we got a $400 bill for "diagnostics and troubleshooting." On top of this, communication was a mess. Manager called me at 6pm on a Friday and couldn't get two words together, not sure if he was high or just exhausted but it was a super unprofessional call and left me with more questions than answers. Finally got some clarity in an email, but jeez what a mess. Maybe their work quality is good, but I won't be sticking around to find out. I'll be working with someone who is more up front about their work, better at communicating, and doesn't charge so much.

Ken has helped me with a slew of electrical projects lately:…read more 1. Installed a 200A panel 2. Laid underground conduit to our detached office / shed 3. Added a subpanel to the shed 4. Added light fixtures and outlets to the shed 5. Added a new dryer circuit and swapped out some interior lights in our house. All of the work has been excellent. Ken is thorough and detail oriented; he does not cut corners. He handled all the permits and has been very easy to work with. Before we started any projects or signed any contracts, Ken and I had a weeks-long conversation where he gave me advice about what was feasible and what was not, and helped me understand what would be required to do the work right. I highly recommend you reach out to Ken if you need electrical work done.

I called their business number listed here 2 days ago since they had very high ratings in Yelp…read more Spoke with Ken, the owner. Told him we have 2 outlets that wasn't working. He went through a couple of quick fixes on the phone which could save us some money. I told him we've done that already and we need an electrician to diagnose and fix the problem. He said it'll cost $335 to show up and if he is here over 2hrs, it will be an extra $169/hr. I said okay. Since he is highly rated, I didn't bother calling other electricians for more quotes. I normally get at least 3 then compare. Then he said his appts are 3wks away but has a cancellation for Saturday (today) at 11am. So I said sure and gave him our address and told him to call us when he's here cuz we have to buzz him in the security gate. He said our address is 5mins from his house so no problem. Long story short. He never showed up, no call -nothing! Wasted our time waiting. It is our rental property so I had to drive in before the appt, waited an hour after the appt then left. He may not have wanted to take the job cuz I got the sense that he wasn't enthused and quoted us his price for showing up. Or... he may have forgotten about the appt. Either way, he is the owner and there is no excuse for poor business practice. And for wasting my time I gave him one star since I can't give zero.
