While the venue appears a bit older, if does seem to be well maintained overall. They also have a good size weights/fitness area, something I haven't seen, or better, than in the few other Chula Vista rec centers I've been to.

I think at the time, 2003 or so, I was a sophomore and I was catching up on those community service hours (on top of it, I know). I remember I had to do a lot of trash pick up and cleaning up graffiti. Aside from that, in these last couple of years, I frequent the recreation center to play basketball (indoor). Their basket ball gym is so cool! First of all, its air conditioned. Second, they always music playing. And, finally, they have a total of 6 hoops. Two main ones and two on each side. However, sometimes they might have only a few down. It just depends. There's definitely regulars here who come in the afternoon to play five on five. Te best times to come are usually the first three hours after its opened. Its dead during the first couple of hours. Honestly, I love this place to shoot around, practice, relax and get away for a bit from everything. The following information below derives entirely and directly from the Chula Vista web site under recreation services. Built in 2000, the Otay Recreation Center includes a gymnasium, game room, patio, and a fitness center. The programs offered at the Otay Recreation Center accommodates a wide array of participants, ranging from toddlers to youth to senior citizens. The center contains a wide-spectrum of activities as well. The fitness center, which requires a membership, contains a variety of state-of-the-art equipment, including cardio machines, free weights, and weight lifting machines. The game room is open during our normal hours of operation for drop in play and consists of pool tables, foosball tables, a ping-pong table, and more. The gymnasium is available for open recreational play each night, for more information on the schedule, please calls the center or click on the link above. The Otay Recreation Center also offers a wide variety of recreational classes. These classes consist of many preschool classes, Ready, Set, Learn, Bumble Bee Sports, Apples to Zebras, Ballet, and more. Other classes offered at the center include, ballet, zumba and belly dancing. The gymnasium, game room, classroom, and patio are available for rentals. Today I went there for the annual Broadway Heights community organization breakfast. Comfortable with good food (mid-April each year). The Recreation Center has BIG front desk, weight room, exercise room, restrooms/locker rooms, Gym, Teen Center, meeting rooms too. All well kept. Great view of mountains outside of back of gym during your break. Nice modern design and architecture. Across the street is Mountain View Park with a small rec. center building. The park is pleasant on the north side, but a little rough on in the center. There is a baseball diamond with bleachers on the southwest corner. With rough grassy area on the southeast corner. The tennis courts have no nets that I saw and in very rough shape?? The basketball courts are in the center of the park and looked playable. There are a few picnic tables and some shade trees. A Brand New children's Playground is being constructed to be open in a couple of months directly across from the community center, but there is no street parking on Boundary Street, which is a one-way going north. You MUST use 40th Street via T st. to get to Mountain View Community Center. There is another park, Southcrest Community Park, that is just a few blocks south on 41st St. which is what Boundary St. turns into going south of Mountain View Community Center. Main entrance off South 40th Street.

However, the worker that checked me in was slightly rude because she didn't understand what she was doing. She actually didn't know if I needed to change a couple things on my roll. Then she wasn't sure if a hard copy of the voter's registration is being mailed out. It's not. Everything is kept online these days. She actually acted as if it was my fault. I brought a friend who had an expired drivers license and no mail from her current address. However, she still voted. The building is clean. No air conditioning inside. The center has private front lot parking.

First to review (FTR), woohoo!…read more I attended a surprise birthday party at this venue, and it was an absolute blast! The community center was spacious, open, and bright. With about 100 guests, there was still plenty of room for everyone to sit comfortably. The celebrant had a special throne on the main stage, and the interior was beautifully decorated with bright lights and high ceilings. Thankfully, the AC worked well since it warmed up as the party got going. There was also an outdoor patio where they served tacos--always a win! The large kitchen made it easy for them to prep and serve food to all the guests. They even had a security guard keeping an eye on things, which was a nice touch. The Spring Valley Community Center also offers a variety of leisure services and lifelong learning opportunities for visitors of all ages. Some of the facility features include: lifelong learning and special interest programs, event and private rentals, children's day camps, adult and senior programs, youth programs, and fitness classes. If you're looking for a solid event venue with plenty of parking (depending on the day), ample restroom facilities, and a spacious, well-maintained setting for any special occasion, I highly recommend this spot!
