Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse - amazing setup

    Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse

Visited Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse on January 19, 2025 for a sweet 16 event. The venue was very…read morespacious, plenty of parking and near our hotel. I like that the event had guest check in with security guards and I felt safe knowing there is security around for our safety and theirs. There was about 200 guest attended, the tables were spaced out perfectly for each guests so they will have plenty of room to move about. The place was beautifully decorated, from the seating to the walls, it was meticulously decorated. They really transformed this place on that special day. The dance floor was a great size for guests to get their boogie on. It was such a fun day. They have restrooms for use. There was plenty of stalls in the women area and long mirrors to check yourself out before you go out to the dance floor lol. They also have a bar area. The food was buffet style that day; the options were great and their food was delicious. We had steak, chicken, rice, scalloped potatoes, veggies and salad. The dessert table was wonderful. The staff that were helping the guests were friendly and polite. Overall, I highly recommend this venue.

I'm writing this review by my experience with a friend's wedding that had taken place here…read more The location here isn't bad, I mean we're already in the middle of nowhere so an old schoolhouse in a middle of a cornfield shouldn't be bad right? Nothing fancy about this place fyi. Their parking lot is just basically dirt. So they have a specific staff here that they only use and you can't bring any other vendors in here because they're scared that they mess up the space. I see their reasoning by really? The hired staff really sucks. So here's the run-down on why their staff sucks: -Bartender: didn't know how to make an Adios. Really now? Probably the biggest party drink and you don't know how to make that? -DJ: didn't know how to mix music, screwed up the playlist for the ceremony which is embarrassing, he's also the announcer which is a shame because he was so boring and unenthusiastic about his job. -Caters/waiters: pretty freaking grumpy ass workers, were unpleasant throughout the whole night. They were stingy with the chicken and tri tip. They butchered the cake! That had to be their worst offense of the night. The chopped it up like fruit ninjas and made a big ass mess. I'm guessing this is probably the only decent venue in this area but really now? A backyard wedding sounds more appealing.

This is a fantastic fair located in Imperial, CA just North of El Centro, CA…read more It has a kid's carnival just inside the main gate and food options just before an entertainment stage and a tunnel to the rest of the fair. The tunnel has many local businesses, face painters, and a bar which sometimes is the place to see Godfrey the Magician performing feats of magic for kids of all ages. Then the buildings begin with an art building being first. Great to see what creations those in the community have put forth each year. Next is my favorite building with great art displays and police/college booths. Many years there are S.T.E.A.M. displays and creations and other years the focus is the community or livestock. This year you can often find Godfrey performing magic in front of a magical patriotic cow. So much fun. Further North is the commercial building full of vendors selling all types of goods and souvenirs. Beyond that is more carnival food booths and the carnival - run by Helm and Sons Amusement, a great company with amazing rides. The main stage always has great bands. Beyond that is the rock building full of gems and minerals. Beyond that is the livestock barns - nearly a dozen buildings full of animals and show arenas. Doc's handwashing station is now a building featuring science exhibits and big games. Finally, there is a building full of exhibits turned in by local children - artwork, Lego builds, etc. A smaller and very windy fair, but one worth visiting. Lots of ground entertainment - magician, juggler, balloon artist, musical act, stilt walkers, etc.

Last minute we were worried that an LED dance floor might look tacky but it was beautiful, fun, and a huge hit. They changed the colors on the dance floor depending on what part of the reception we were at so during some of the family performances there were beautiful white lights and during the open dance floor it changed colors. I might recommend having some kind of gradient to the elevated LED dance floor in case people aren't looking down when they walk on, but that might be hard to employ! We weren't the kind of couple that was very nitpicky about each part of the decor (so I can't speak for those couples that have more of a detailed vision) but I thought, for us, the finished product was classy, glamorous, and fun. My husband (woops typed out fiance at first) has a keener design-eye and he was also incredibly happy with our decor. Thank you Steffanie and Javed!
