Weed eater cut my plants in front yard beds several times. He let weeds in back grow all year then offered a "clean up" at the end of the season for $350. I didn't accept last fall (just had spent all my savings on a roof at the time) but asked for him to clean up this spring -the same job was now $600. Again, poor quality work and I asked him to come back, which he did then charged me another $50 for my bi-weekly mowing- which he did during the first trip of his "clean up job"

In a day and age when everyone rushes to leave a bad review, I wanted to leave my honest feedback. Especially considering how rarely I leave reviews. Nonetheless, due to their outstanding service I am compelled to spend a little bit of time saying thank you and recommending them without hesitation. 1st Contact: When we called Done Right in late December to discuss doing this project they came out quickly to look at the backyard and listen to what we were attempting to have accomplished. We also called two other companies. One never called back and the other quoted this project much higher. Yes, WAY higher for the same scope of work. In other words, APPLES TO APPLES. Proposal: The quoted proposal was for exactly what we asked. In addition, Adam put up with our many phone calls, questions and switching ideas a few times only to end up back where we started. He was great at listening, suggesting and reminding us of budget, etc. Pre-Work (Preparation): To no one's fault weather was awful and did set back the initial startup date back, but Done Right did a great job communicating the delay and keeping us updated. Prior to our startup, we did require approval from our HOA and Done Right Assisted us in getting them what they needed. In addition, during our obtaining required city permits, it was discovered part of our retaining wall project was going to be partially in the utility easement. Not wanting to lose yard space, the Done Right Landscapes team helped navigate a written rental contract from the city for $20 to have the right to put the structure in the easement. This is a big deal for resell, etc. This was all notarized and coordinated by both parties thanks to the Done Right team. The Work: It was a daily joy to watch the Done Right Landscapes team take over our backyard and cul-de-sac. We had concerns about upsetting the neighbors with the mess, dirt, etc. Their team cleaned up the street daily and kept the mess manageable. We received many compliments from our neighbors about how professional the crew appeared and how much they cleaned up. All our neighbors were quite impressed and pleased with our choice in Done Right Landscapes. There were so many days where it rained and I was sure there was no way they would be working. NOPE! They were right out there plugging away in the elements. It was truly impressive. Our crew was led by Jerry Ruiz (The Interpreter and Bad Ass). Jerry greeted us daily, kept us updated, and led the crew. Any time we had a concern or a change, he and his crew never gave long looks or ever had any sign of a temper. Instead, the always said no problem and made the entire process an absolute joy. I have joked with Adam Callison that if I ever started a landscape company (which I never would) I would steal Jerry. HE WAS THAT IMPRESSIVE AND GREAT. At times when the project felt like it was falling behind due to weather, etc. The team would show up with all hands-on deck and get back on schedule. One day we had 2 bobcats and a Mini X all slaying away on our project. In total over 40 truckloads of topsoil were removed from our backyard, 8 tree stumps, and somehow it all came together and the results have the neighbors in awe. Upgrades: We did have a few upgrades mid project like, adding hardscape lighting to the wall (best decision ever), irrigation system upgrade (don't want to water all those new plants), and changes to the actual landscape design and landscaping plants and/or rocks. All of this seamlessly took place quickly without crazy headaches or unneeded tension. Final Thoughts: My wife and I cannot recommend Done Right Landscapes enough. We are missing not having their team around working (but we won't miss the extra expense, ha.) We cannot wait to use them to landscape our front yard and all future projects and year to year maintenance. So many people say landscaping is a waste of money or you never get it all back. We argue they are crazy. We get to enjoy a yard like no others, we can feel the love put into it and it becomes a sanctuary that is the envy of everyone in the subdivision. If it ever came time to sell our house it would no doubt bring a little more and sell much faster. Done Right Landscapes took curb appeal to our backyard!

Yet, the project manager or the lead does not use it to communicate. looking at previous reviews, communication seemed to be a big issue between the project managers and the customer; that is absolutely correct. Project managers do not respond to call or email. I needed to update scope of work and the initial projects manager did not respond for two weeks. It time over 1.5 month to get the scope narrowed and get a contract sign. The pre-work survey or phase 4 is nothing but second chance for the company to upsell the project. The first project manager should have notice and discuss all the possible scope. significant increase in project cost Also; had to call and email to find out when the project will start; was told 21st August. 21st August came and went, had to call to see when the project will start; was told; it will start 21st September. I got a text on 11 September stating the work will start week of 14-18 September. Well it is 18 September, got another text stating the work will start early next week...21-25 September. They keep citing previous project and weather delays...well; there had not been much rain or storm in the greater St Louis Area For the past 4 weeks. Additionally, Done Right is the most expensive Landscaping Company in the region and they do not give any discount other than $500 off for project over $15,000. So, we will see when the work start and how well they do.!

Regarding when I was visiting my elderly dad: Went through the whole process of getting an…read moreestimate, scheduling the work, then the guy shows up for the work and says, 'sorry, can't be done for the $3,000 we quoted you (see attached for written estimate), it's now $10,000. He tried to get a hold of his boss, but he was in a meeting. Next day we call them and he said, 'we'll do another estimate' - so then another guy comes over, and he quoted $5,400 for half the work (2 trees versus 5) -- arguably more expensive than the $10,000 quote. Seriously? I need these trees dealt with before they cause a bigger issue (one was struck by lightning and already had a branch fall off). Well, they said they had some guy who was giving incorrect estimates that no longer works for the company. Does that sound like a reasonable story? A guy you employed was giving estimates, you were scheduling the jobs, and then, what? You fired him because you realized you can charge double to seniors in need of urgent work? By the way, we had another company that did more work for $3,400 -- arguably cheaper than your original "incorrect" quote. I guess legally you have the right to refuse to honor an estimate (although if one of your customers cancels you charge a 10% penalty - isn't that ironic?), and there was no bad outcome here (thankfully) other than a massive waste of our time. But frankly, there is dubious trustworthiness here... Related to which, why does your estimate form say you have a 5.0 Yelp rating when the actual rating is 4.3?
