Great store. Knowledgeable staff. Broke a suspension part on a 1/18 Rock Crawler Truck. They were able to match up a replacement part and installed it while I was having lunch at a nearby brewpub. Charged me just for the parts. Heading there now to buy some more stuff. read more

In Control Hobbies seems to be in control of the hobby market in this area! In this Amazon's online world, sometimes we forget that there are people out there that know their stuff, we call them experts. I tend to go to YouTube and listen to 20 different goofballs ideas about a product I am interested in, only finding out most of the time they are trying to sell me something off their Amazon affiliate link. It gets so old! Where am I going with this? I am restoring my old RC10B3 for my son. I was in need of some parts, and I wanted them now! So, I Googled RC Cars CDA and In Control came up. Called to see how late they were open and if they carried what I was looking for and the answer was "we are open till 6 and yep we have everything you need." I jumped in the car with the kids and headed out. Nice place! Lots of cool RC toys. I mean lots! The fellow that helped me must have been the owner because his knowledge was amazing on my old RC10. I found every single part that I was looking for and he pointed out several other little items that were in need of some love on the car. All in all, I got everything I needed. Pricing was no different then I saw for parts online really. Oh, back to the point from earlier. You can't find good knowledge all the time online. Sometimes it's nice to mosey into a store and talk with somebody that is passionate about the products they are selling. As I am getting older, I find myself liking the boutique specialty shops more and more. It's so cool when you can walk in and look at tons of neato toys, then chat in person with an expert and walk out the door with a bag of goodies. Purchased a Graupner RX in December to put in a plane I was repairing over the winter. Took the plane out to fly in April, but the RX would not bind. Contacted and asked to have it replaced but they told me they only have a 30 day return policy. I explained that Graupner has a 1 year guarantee so they told me to return it to them. Wrote to Graupner and was told to send it to them as they are a USA representative. Control Hobby didn't care, said they only allow 30 days to report problems. Well I don't fly in the winter nor do range test in the cold. Bad customer service. Had to throw it away. Have since moved to Spektrum Rc equipment as Graupner USA rep is not reputable. read more

I came in to get some Traxxas GTR shocks and springs. Not sure the guys name, wearing sport sandals. Gave him the Traxxas numbers and said they weren't in their system. Really? Then he started saying something while walking to another counter and I asked him a question and he said, 'if you'd just let me finish' and that was it for me. You don't say that to customers. Rude! No way I'm I ever coming here anymore. I usually would have good things to say but as long as that guy is working there, I will not travel 40 min from Spokane for someone to talk like that to me. This is a great hobby shop with a big selection of cars, planes, boats, helicopters, drones, rockets, and parts. Everything is priced as it should be, and while some things are quite expensive, nothing is marked up unreasonably high. The employees are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I go there a few times a year for the past few years to buy replacement parts and I have never once had an issue. All in all, it is an awesome shop and I will be back many more times. read more

Tried to return/exchange two quad copters and the owner was rude and cut me off while trying to explain the problem and said nothing is wrong with them. They all but kicked me out of the store. Wouldn't even hear me out to work out a solution to my problem. Do not buy anything here, they will not return/exchange if you have a problem. I believe this is the same shop that unfortunately burnt to the ground a while back in CDA. I had my first experience with the guys, Bryce in particular yesterday. Getting better! 3 stars means it is what I expect, no better, no worse. The staff is generally and reasonably knowledgeable, and pleasant to deal with. Good selection for the size of the shop. Their prices are typical brick and mortar, but there are a few items that are unreasonably high. Like with most hobby shops, do a little research before you walk in the door, have a good idea of what you are looking for. read more
