The Cobourg salon is absolutely filthy & should be shut down. Techs do NOT wash their own hands…read morebetween customers & ALL of them use the exact same emery boards and unsanitized tools from one client to the next. They NEVER autoclave tools or use freshly sanitized towels for each client. The exact same towel sits on each manicure table under each client's hands. The manicure stations are NEVER cleaned between each customer. A customer leaves and the nail tech (including the owner Kim) immediately directs another to sit at the station as the previous client is being cashed out. The manicure/pedicure instruments are all thrown in a drawer at each manicure station after use instead of being held out separately for sanitation. The dremel tool and sanding paper is always filled with residue from the manicures of previous clients. The salon itself is truly filthy. They sometimes skim over the floor with a broom and a damp mop. The staff are also VERY rude and are constantly chatting in Vietnamese. It gives the uncomfortable feeling that you and other clients are being gossiped about or criticized in our own presence. Even worse KIM is very dishonest. She charged a higher price at checkout even though I had asked the price in advance!! When questioned, she said that she gave a different service - something that I had NOT asked for nor did she mention before she did it, nor was there any discernible evidence that something different had taken place. Regardless, changing to a different service without client approval is totally dishonest! I do not kid myself though, as frankly she was just flat out LYING! If you want to be ripped off in a dirty environment and be gossiped about in your presence, this place is for you! The Ontario Gov't staffer who inspects this filthy shop and gives them a pass should absolutely be fired! Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere... unless you enjoy risking getting an infection that you will not only pay for but be overcharged for. Anyone giving them a high rating have to be fake customers! This place is a filthy dump!!!

They also have a very trendy and unique jewellery display throughout their reception area which I have made a few purchases from. My only complaint would be I wouldn't suggest leaving a voicemail if it picks up when you call to make an appointment, I've never had any luck when I've done so. It is not fancy (although they are called Fancy nails) but they do a fantastic job and frankly that is what I am concerned about. If you want a tranquil spa experience and you want to pay twice the price that is also great but given I am a regular I don't feel the need to go to a high end salon every two weeks. In addition to doing a great job they are also very kind and very respectful of their clients. I have seen them treating seniors so gently and wonderfully and the teenager as well. I do not believe I did! By the time I came home, I totally removed all the nail polish! She put more polish on areas that she said I had damaged! She sure was not as caring as others that I have had in the past. I was very disappointed! I am a senior with arthritis but felt I was not treated well at all!
