The neuropsych report from Steinmann was brief, did not include diagnoses, and was not what the University needed for accommodations. Also, Sugarman stated in her report that my son did not have ADHD while for the past year he continued to have symptoms consistent with ADHD. The professional we saw this year found that my son does in fact have ADHD. Dr. Sugarman herself did not meet with my son to administer tests, this was done by office staff. She spoke with my son for about 5-15 minutes to ask him what college accommodations he was looking for, assuring him she would provide that, but not to glean any additional information to complete the evaluation itself. We received the evaluation which was 6 pages long, mostly consisting of charts and missing recommended accommodations and any diagnoses. She briefly spoke with my son after providing the report (for about 5-15 minutes), during which she tried to sell him on a costly treatment called computer assisted cognitive remediation that she provides. In looking into the recommended computer assisted cognitive remediation treatment, it did not appear to be an empirically validated treatment. Dr. Sugarman also recommended this treatment to my friend's child who's clinical picture was completely different than my son's. After receiving the evaluation, we asked Dr. Sugarman to provide specific diagnoses and were told we would have to pay additional money in order to obtain that level of detailed information. My son later reached out to Steinmann because the University said that his neuropsych report was not usable for accommodations. Dr. Sugarman provided a document listing functional limitations, some of which don't apply to my son, and others which are attributable to ADHD, and then stated that he should be encouraged to develop a relationship with each professor to establish accommodations. Also, prior to the eval, Steinmann said they could bill insurance but that insurance would likely not cover it. I went through the process to have the insurance approve the eval under the billing codes provided me by Steinmann, but then after the evaluation they billed my insurance company under different codes than the ones they provided me. When the insurance company and I called together to ask them to rebill with the original codes, they left us on hold for 40 minutes before we gave up and hung up. We called a week later and they hung up on us three times in a row. The neuropsychological testing we had done through a different provider was a very different experience. He himself met with my son for 7 hours administering tests. He spoke with my husband and I for an hour and a half to obtain more information. After providing a 16 page report he spent an hour and 45 minutes going over the results and answering questions. There were clear diagnoses, including moderate/severe ADHD. He also clearly listed academic accommodations (longer test times, tests administered in environments free of distractions, using a smart pen to take notes in class, etc) in his report. The cost of the test was roughly the same as what we paid at Steinmanns. I have had two friends who also had a negative experience at Steimanns. I am worried about people not only wasting their money, but wasting time in getting inaccurate evals (I feel like my son's college experience last year would have been very different if he had had an appropriate diagnosis, an accommodations plan, and appropriate medication in place).

Wendy was the best -- she communicated clearly, spent as much time as mom needed to explain things that were going on, and provided consistent care and communication with the doctor's office, updating them when there were changes, alerting him to anything that needed quick attention. The physical therapist was great as well. He provided the empathetic attention as well as humor to help mom want to do pt as long as she could do it. A friend referred me to Dr. Sterling. I found her really easy to open up to and trust. Dr. Sterling explained how emotions get stuck in the body and assessed where my pain was and how it was affecting me. She asked me questions about how my injury was impacting my life in terms of what it was limiting me from doing. She used some techniques I had never experienced or heard of before but after only 20 minutes, I was completely amazed. The pain was nearly gone!! I was able to put more weight on my foot. I felt lighter and I also had a lot more clarity about how I was going to handle my errands that weekend. Had someone told me that my pain would significantly diminish or that I'd be able to get a lot of clarity about how to prioritize my agenda, all within 20 minutes and without medication, I would have laughed. I would make only small steps of progress over longer periods of time. Dr. Serena Sterling is very easy to talk to and trust. I feel like my treatment with her strikes a balance of someone professionally treating me for a problem and someone who is relatable and warm - unlike traditional therapy where there can sometimes be a wall between the doctor and patient. I was thrilled that NET wasn't like traditional therapy where I would feel accused of having the same old Freudian psychological cliches that I went into the first session feeling moderately defensive about. You will dig up some crazy stuff that you can't believe is still in there bothering you. I felt some issues release right away but after the third session I felt a marked difference in my overall vibe. Memories and emotions from the past physically left my body - I literally could feel the place they used to be. There was a vice-like tension in my chest for years that was 100% gone. I'm starting to feel more and more like a mature adult that can understand her emotions and work on the corresponding patterns rather than (what I would label myself as) someone who just can't get it together. For the first time in all the years of therapy I've tried, I am very confident in NET and in my ability to get to the place I want to be in life.

I emailed your company yesterday, and I got a call back almost immediately, the lady I spoke with…read moreyesterday was so kind and understanding about my situation, I mean she was super sweet, the entire conversation..and she told me your company would love to help me and that she had spoken with the director and everything looked good, and that they just wanted to cover the insurance bases, and told me she would check to see if my insurance covered what I needed (in home mental health therapist on occasion) and if my insurance didn't cover it or didn't cover all of it, she said I would get a call back to go over fee schedules and how often I can be seen and such.. I hung up feeling nervous but happy that I would finally be getting the help that I need. And then I get a call today from a completely different person (made me feel as though she was talking down to me, complete 180 from the lady I spoke with yesterday) claiming that you guys don't deal with Medicare at all, she asked if I had other insurance and since I don't, that was the end of the conversation, and she wouldn't even go over any other cash payment options.. Maybe people like me who are mentally ill wouldn't be so sick if there were more companies out there that were willing to help us out. How dare you assume that I can't pay cash so you just won't work with me. I guess it's better that I don't deal with a company like that anyways. Thank you for making a bad day that much worse.
