So, the only Peruvian chicken I had before here is in this place called Limon in SF (specifically the one on Valencia). And the chicken is hella good: impeccably seasoned, slowly rotisserie cooked, succulent, delicious. Winner, winner, chicken . . . you get it. So when I find out Inca also does a Peruvian chicken, I just automatically assume it'll be like Limon . . . you know . . . because they're both Peruvian. Anyways . . . I now see that it was a bit presumptuous of me to think all Peruvian rotisserie chicken would taste the same, but at the same time, Inca was pretty tasty and actually did have some hints of Limon to it. Rotisserie cooked. check. Nicely seasoned. check. Moist. check. Satisfying. check. Then you throw on some of their famous green sauce and you're good to go. Ribs are pretty good too. Then there are the array of sides: yellow rice, mash potatoes, beet salad, platanos, empanadas, etc. Good stuff. Inca is this wonderful neighborhood fixture that serves up quick and filling meals to folks who live and work around there. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't my first time at Inca Chicken but I'd just forgotten how delicious it was. The chicken was crazy tender with perfectly seasoned and slightly crisp skin. The chickens here aren't the huge mutant chickens you sometimes find so don't expect a huge 1/4 chicken. But a quarter is enough to fill you up in the combo platter because they were quite generous with the sides. Maduros (3 large pieces, perfectly sweet with that blackened exterior) + mushroom, zucchini, pepper, tofu medley were both great and the latter had a tiny hit of spice. All for $6.75. The service is counter style, which makes it great if you need something to eat in a hurry. There's a room in the back to sit down, but most people do take out or delivery. But let's talk about the food. The chicken is so juicy it's falling off the bone. I've had the sausage before and it's also good. But the chicken is the real star of the show. I usually also get a small side of yellow rice. That always translates to several large spoonfuls of rice, or basically a medium size takeout container. I'm not complaining because that's value. We have walked past Inca a couple of times and were drooling over the tasty looking chickens turning over and over on the grill. Tonight, we decided to give it a try and were definitely not disappointed. Seating is limited (3 tables) and really needs to be wiped down with some bleach. There are three massive AC units set on 70 degrees working overtime, but it is still about 85 degrees inside. The chicken is the main appeal here, it is tender and salty... but in a good soy sauce kind of way. I highly recommend their spicy green cilantro sauce. It is good on everything, including the rice. My favorite side dish is the sweet plantains. chicken with two sides is only $4! I also tried the potato croquette, which was ok. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. A huge thank you to Phil for an extraordinary meal and experience! We heard so many good things about this place, we had to try a little bit of everything. And trust me, you know the place is good when there is a long line! First, I'll start with my favorites: the pork ribs. Oh my goodness. They were so moist and the seasonings were perfection. It was served with their house made barbecue sauce, which was awesome. Next was sweet plantains. They were absolutely perfect. A complaint I have with plantains from other restaurants is that they can get too oily. These were not soaked with oil. They were absolutely delicious. Another highlight? The CHORIZO. It had a beautiful sear on the outside and was bursting with flavor. You can't go to Inca Chicken and not get chicken. It was delicious! You can see them spinning in the rotisserie in the window, and your mouth waters in preparation. There's no way to walk by and not get some. The mixed vegetables were wonderful. The vegetables were cooked perfectly-not too soft and not too hard and they were nice and garlicky. We also tried yellow rice, and the white rice with eggs and vegetables. We sampled some of the pernil. It was everything pork should be-juicy and flavorful. The enchiladas were perfectly crispy and stuffed with meat (one chicken, one beef). I love how they also had hard boiled eggs in them!! When I walked out, I was pleased to see the staff doing a deep clean of the rotisserie. It feels good when you know you are eating at a restaurant that prioritizes food safety, and cleanliness and sanitation of the establishment. I can not wait to come here again. The store didn't look too amazing, but there is always a crowd in here, which is honestly a good sign! You cannot get picky all small stuff, when you visit Costa Rica, the setup is exactly the same... So their layout is okay. I had a delicious chicken plater with veggies and fried plantain. It was really tasty and fresh. The guys who work here are friendly as well, delivering great customer service. This includes warm inviting place to eat. LOOK HOW STUFFED THIS BOX IS!!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened my order. I got the pork ribs combo platter (which comes with 2 sides) for $13.25. I honestly don't think I've gotten more bang for my buck at any other restaurant in NYC. And the best part? It was BOMB. While the ribs weren't as tender as I'd have liked they more than made up for it in flavor. Add a little bit of the complimentary sauces and *chefs kiss* they're delicious. The potatoes were super good too, they were somewhere between roasted and mashed and I'd definitely order them again. The white rice was alright, but it's pretty rare that standard rice is spectacular so it's nothing to fret about. They do have quite a few options for sides so I'll have to try something else next time. I barely made a dent in the plate and was stuffed, one combo can easily be shared or spread out over two meals. The food was displayed through glass and I was quickly asked what I would like to order. There was plenty to choose from. They had ribs, chicken, sausages, etc and many other side dishes. I decided on the quarter chicken dark with potato salad and steamed vegetables. For $5.50 I had a full lunch that was quite satisfying! The meat was very tender and pulled right away from the bone. It was seasoned well and had rich flavor. The potato salad was good with some mixed vegetables added. And the steamed broccoli, carrots, and string beans were perfection. They had the right amount of butter just to give a little more flavor. The green sauce was served in a small cup and was the right amount of kick to add to my food. Overall I had a great experience.
