Dr. Boysen's tour felt less like an introduction and more like an evaluation of whether we met his standards. He made a point of emphasizing that "many parents here have backgrounds in engineering and science"--apparently his measure of worthiness. The assumption that I didn't? Laughable, given where I studied. But I shouldn't have to justify my credentials to be treated with basic respect. For a school that markets itself on Christian values, the lack of humility, grace, or genuine welcome was staggering. If your faith means anything, it should mean treating people with dignity regardless of perceived status. Dr. Boysen failed that test completely. We won't be back. read more

The best decision I ever made was placing my daughter in Incarnation. The interview process went well, Dr. Boysen is an amazing principal. They asked my daughter questions and make sure everyone going to be happy and it was a great fit. We got the acceptance letter a few days later. When inquiring about the financial aid, he responded to my emails immediately and I felt very welcome from the beginning. Also I am very grateful for the financial aid my daughter is getting for this reason she is attending Incarnation. Again Dr. Boysen is very involved in the school and students daily life. Every morning when I drop my daughter off he is there happy smiling ready to get the day going for the kids! I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to place my daughter in this school. My daughter also tells me that the principal is outside during recess talking to the students and making sure everyone is happy! The teachers do care they respond to my emails the same day. There is a lot of activities in the school that kids get the kids engaged in their education. Some of the other reviews mention that the school only cares about money that's not the issue. Again when you truly care for the education of your children, private school some times is the best option which it does involve money. Just like going to a University versus a Cal state in the university you're going to get more 1 on 1 attention. Yes... The lunch is around five dollars but that saves so much time for me in the morning and my daughter gets to have lunch with her friends at school. Some people pay five dollars for a cup of coffee, but the lunch here is great and my daughter gets to be with friends and other students in a loving environment! I would recommend the school 100% it goes pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. It's definitely better than the schools in the area. And wearing a uniform does bring her responsibility and a sense of pride in her appearance. My daughter attends Incarnation. I think that there are good and bad parts to this school. Uniforms, such a double edged sword here. They simultaneously make it easy and hard to get clothing. They present conformity but also make it difficult to find exact sizes as some sizes are more easily obtained than others. The staff is courteous and some teachers are much better than others. When you have a teacher piling on the HW to a young child, it also seems a bit excessive. When the teacher is able to connect with your child though, there is a special bond and a great deal of learning commences. However both good and bad teachers seem to be here and thus some years are more difficult than others. Pro Tip: Label your child's jackets and accoutrements with their name or they will disappear into the lost and found pile never to be seen again. I am very disappointed that the children are only able to play on blacktop as whatever my daughter wears to school she comes home absolutely filthy! It also means that her clothes are torn up and destroyed rather easily. Overall the education is pushing my daughter somewhat. This is a good thing. At times, I wish it was a bit harder, so she can't coast, but I know all kids are different and learn at different paces and different things. So I work with her on extra things at home. This definitely helps a lot. There is also an extreme reliance on additional monies and time commitments to be required in addition to all of the tuition. I don't understand why the tuition doesn't cover everything and you can get deductions for things in lieu of additional charges for required fundraising and or time contributions. This honestly is something that bugs me personally. Not a good school and not recommended. To go more into detail, teachers always leaving to go to a higher paying school, some teachers don't seem to care, and students are made almost as disrespectful as staff. Everything is unorganized and all the school cares about is religion and MONEY. Food is trash, poisoning,and OVERPRICED (one slice of dominos pizza for $5 dollars.) Uniform is too strict and you can get written up for the dumbest things. Junior high teachers don't know how to prepare students for HSPT or other tests. Teachers also have bad excuses for not doing things that are dependent on them. Would not recommend. read more

My daughter attends Incarnation and loves it. It's a fantastic learning environment with a highly-qualified and caring staff. I always appreciate how the teachers and staff listen to any concern I may have. The school also offers many opportunities for both the family and student to get involved. There are sports programs, after school care, academic teams, Scouts, and several extracurricular classes to choose from. We try to do as many things as possible and I've found the parents and students to be warm, friendly and encouraging. I was hesitant to put my kids in this school due to the whole religion thing but I went to catholic private school as a child and it was a great school so I figured why not? Well what a mistake. When my child started at this school he had a great academic level and was spelling words like pollution at 3 years old. Once he got to Incarnation it went down hill. I noticed little by little how he was not learning anything. All they care about at this school is religion. They will brain wash your child. At 6 years old my son told me he wanted to die so he could see God because at school they told him when you die you see God. Like seriously?? Who says that to a 6 year old? Some of the stuff he said to me at home was disturbing. Most of the kids in his class were mean. Same goes for some of the parents. Horrible environment. When he did his First Communion in one of the classes they asked the kids if they had considered becoming priests or nuns. I had it at that point. I moved my kids to a new school and they are both doing great. They are learning useful things like Math and Science and they are excelling academically. Incarnation School only cares about religion and money. I get that it's a Catholic school but they should focus on teaching kids subjects that will help them in the future. What good is it if you know all your prayers but you can't spell? Would not recommend this school to anyone. read more

I was shocked to see the 4th grade classroom with OVERCROWDED AND EXTREMELY NOISY STUDENTS, and the teacher who was overwhelmed with that many students I estimated to be around 40. I gladly passed on and enrolled my child in another school. read more

My children attend this school. At first, I loved this school, as I got to know the staff, I can't wait for the end of the school year to transfer my kids out of this abyss of parent haters. The school asks parents to volunteer for the school yet they treat parents horribly. When I pick up my child, the teacher just ignores me and yells out for my child. No Hi, bye, or thank you, no acknowledgement at all, as if you're a stranger. But I say thank you... When I do volunteer, one smart mouthed teacher says "you're too good for that huh?" and I'm not even acquainted with that teacher. I just laugh and brush it off... There was a school messenger (mass letter) to parents that children with allergies (my kid has nut allergy) will have their own tables. Two months later, I was called my child was "not feeling well." I asked my child what happened. "My classmate gave me pretzel sticks with Nutella." We asked the principal that they're suppose to have their own allergy table, she said "yeah we're going to have it." We took home our child early that day... I picked up my child through the front gate one time and waited for my other child to come out, my kid and I sat on the bench/table set. A long time teacher assistant tells me I can't wait on school grounds (behind me in the next table are a bunch of parents, grandparents waiting to get their kids, yet she picks on only me & tells me this. I've done this before. she just walks by the rest). She says I have to go to my car with my child, bring the car around, line up behind all the cars to pick up my other child through the parking lot. I told her how ridiculous that is. She says it's an old rule, they just decided to enforce it. I asked who's responsible for this rule, she said the principal. I asked the principal, she said we just want one area for the kids to be picked up from. (So if there's an emergency they want everyone to go out one way only? How asinine.... One child breaks a bone in the playground, I asked where the supervision was? No one knows... One teacher benches her students for the lamest thing. The backpacks are hanging on the hooks outside the classroom in the hallway. My child left a book in the backpack, she's benched for two minutes. She left a notebook in the backPack another time, benched again for 2 min. She did the wrong homework, benched 2 min again, yet she's an A student. She comes home crying fearful of her teacher. She asked her teacher to repeat the instructions on the assignment, she's told to ask her classmates (she wasn't even talking or distracted). She's grown fearful of asking anything from her teacher & just decided to keep to herself. I feel sorry for my daughter. (Time to see the boss) Had I known it was going to be like this I would've invested all that hard earned money I've put in this school into another school. We just have to tough it out till the end of school year. I already paid too much to the school to just leave. What am I paying these people for. We're suppose to be their customer. This school is so anti-parent yet they want to partner with us to help them with volunteering and fundraising. I'm so frustrated. This is suppose to be a private catholic school?
