We signed a contract in late summer 2022 for a major home renovation. After a 4-month wait for the permit, we cycled through three foremen in under two years. Communication was poor, and the owner had to be constantly involved. Despite our timely payments on all draws and change orders, vendors were not always paid, and we were threatened with liens by one vendor and harassed by a second. After two years, only 40% of the project was complete. We always had an open relationship with JC Smith, and I don't believe their leadership are bad people. But they could not maintain quality staff or manage finances, leading to unpaid vendors and stalled work. We ultimately had to terminate the contract at a significant financial loss to our family and hire a new contractor. But we had no choice, and the experience with our new contractor has been night and day.

Some of it was waterlogged so it weighed more than it should've (which didn't even occur to me) so I offered to pay more than he'd quoted since he'd make less profit after going to the dump. He refused and stuck to his original quote. Also, I don't know how he managed to fit everything in the back of his truck, but he did, tied it down well and covered it with a tarp so nothing would fly out while driving. He was super clear about taking it to the dump, so I know this stuff won't end up on the side of the road somewhere or dumped in the woods, too many people do that so they don't have to pay the dump fees. He worked quickly and was done loading in about a half hour. At least half of that time was spent rearranging stuff in the back of his truck so it would all fit and could be tied down. I'm holding onto his number! I will definitely use him again! Totally professional, courteous, and hardworking, I have only good things to say! If you need junk removal/construction debris removal, give him a shot, I only wish I'd found him sooner!

I am elderly and can't get down under the house to keep an eye on things down there. I asked if he could put a sensor on the replacement tank that would alert me when there was a problem. He came up with a MUCH BETTER idea! He put the new tank in a closet up here in the house so I can monitor and turn off the water supply any time I need. I will also be able to change the sediment filter and UV light bulb. And I can purchase those supplies from Kris so I don't have to go out to the store to get them. All the sediment that was stirred up by the constant water flow also affected my hot water heater. Kris and his assistant replaced that too. Very professional with good prices and an amazing product. The completely fabricated system built, painted and installed was cheaper than materials alone for some of the other estimates I got. The railings look fantastica and couldn't be any sturdier. The craftmanship is phenomenal. They fabricated and installed 188 linear feet of railings for my house and it's clear that attention to detail and thoughtfulness was put into every inch. The more I look the more I notice things like filed or ground edges on the top rail so there are no sharp corners, welds that were ground down to reduce any rises that would keep the powder coating from being even and of course it's all perfectly plum and straight. They installed the railings in two days and for the amount of railing that seems super fast to me.
