The advice I recieved was most useful and I could not have done without it. The staff in there are extremely patient and friendly, the new system employed there, means you dont have to wait that long to be seen. The help and information I got was very useful. A very professional outfit, considering the staff are almost enitrely volunteers. The thing that sets this CAB apart from others in Oxford or Daventry is the opening hours. The Bureau is open every day of the week except tuesday afternoons. I was made very welcome when I visited, given a presice time to return as they were particularly busy that day. Beware actually, the Bureau often seems busy, but that is no fault of the staff. Highly recommended on all levels.

The had a refit about a year ago…read moreto spruce the shop up a bit, and I will admit it was a little worrying when for a while after it looked more like a boutique than a charity shop, but it is settling back into itself nicely now. Sells all the clothes, bric a brac, books etc you would expect (although no childrenswear, and toys can be a bit hit and miss), along side some great quality new goods such as wooden toys, gifts and seasonal ranges. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Wheelchair/buggy access can be a bit tight due to space allowances, and there is one step into the building.

This is a large furniture warehouse outlet for Willen Hospice Charity. They have a large selection…read moreof furniture here, beds, wardrobes, sofa's, tables amongst smaller items as well right down to games and cutlery. I found some of the items to be a bit tatty and worn out for the price they were trying to charge, eg a bedside cabinet covered in stickers that had been half pulled off and was chipped and scraped for £30. You could get one from Ikea for cheaper and not have to put in a lot of work to try and get it sorted. Although other items were well priced and you can find a bargain. I think it is a fab idea as it is earning money for Willen Hospice which is an amazing organisation and it is recycling as well. They do a delivery service if you need it for your large items as well which is pretty handy. There are marked parking bays outside but it is pretty busy here so you may have to park out on the roadside and walk over.

However, I was informed that it was not permissible to try more than two items at a time. I endeavored to remain composed despite feeling quite upset. At the checkout, I politely inquired whether I could return the shoes if they proved to be too large. Although I had tried them on in the shop and found them too big, I thought they might be suitable for my mother. In response, I received an extremely rude and elevated reply. In my twenty years residing in this country, this was the first occasion I felt unwelcome as a foreigner. This experience was particularly unexpected coming from a second-hand shop and especially from an elderly lady.

The best charity shop in Harborough now Rainbows has gone. Lots of bargains in clothes, household,…read morebooks, CDs and toys & games, with some childrenswear. Also new cards, hosiery etc and occassional nic-nacs. The ladies who work there are lovely, friendly and always welcoming. I find it almost impossible to pass without popping in, and rarely come away empty handed, especially if I have the children with me as they love delving through the baskets of little toys under the shelves. The ladies will also happily clamber into the window display or delve into the storeroom if you're looking for something in particular, and always price things reasonably.

The red cross shop in Stony Stratford is pretty good as a charity shop. They regularly get new…read morethings in so it's worth visiting fairly frequently. It's got all the usual things, clothes, books, dvds, bric-a-brac etc. but they also sell a few red cross branded items like calander, diary etc. They don't over charge for the stuff they're selling recognising that it's better to sell it all cheaply than to only sell a few bits for a lot and have lots go to waste and earn less for the charity. The staff here are really friendly and do their best to help you if you're looking for something in particular too which is nice.
