I came here on a Friday afternoon right when they opened at around 4:30. I had the butter chicken combo. The food came surprisingly quickly for Indian food. I was surprised at the higher price but the portions are huge and quality of the food is pretty high. The chicken was made with white meat and came with a side of vegetables, salad, and rice. I thought the chicken was a little dry in the middle but dipping it on the sauce helped.. The vegetables and salad was delicious and the rice was average. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended. I moved to Hamilton from Mississauga/Toronto area and have missed having Indian food. I order Baigan Patiala and Shahi Paneer, rice and garlic naan. Excellent quality... it was flavourful enough, we just felt like it was all just too sweet aNd I had ordered medium spice. I know for next time to order spicy. Reservation is required, especially on the weekends. Services and Atmosphere is nice. The servers are friendly and helpful. Their food are tasty, meat are juicy not dry or overcooked. It is a bit pricy compare to the other decent indian restaurant in GTA. But it won't stop me from coming back. read more

I stopped by this restaurant last week at 4pm on a Saturday. Unfortunately, they close from 3.30 to 4.30 everyday... So we went to the nearby Tim Hortons to wait until 4.30 as we really wanted Indian food. Either way, once we finally got it, the first thing we all had an issue with was the temperature! It was freezing inside here and all of our toes were literally frozen. Anyways, temperature aside, the service was good. The food was a little pricey but they gave a fair sized portion for the price. Also, be warned, If you pick "spicy", it really is spicy! You will need to have a few glasses of water ready just in case! The food tasted pretty good, we tried the regular naan, garlic naan, chicken biriani, and skewered chicken. The food was well prepared and lots of flavor. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to a friend though I will warn them that the price is on the higher side! read more

Second time visiting here, always great food and friendly people. Might want to make a reservation on weekends as it can get full quickly. This trip it was beef jalfrezi and spinach tandoori chicken. Both requested spicy and unlike some places, it came just that way. Tandoor was excellent and different to the tradition chicken tandoori we all know. What a gem this place is! Tucked into the back of a plaza in Ancaster is a cozy Indian restaurant with gracious service and excellent food. The food was tasty and plentiful. I like that heat options. We chose hot and found it to be perfect. Any hotter would have been too much and milder wouldn't have brought out the flavours of the food. read more

I am not a huge fan of spicy food but I was really impressed with my experience! Went here on a whim a couple of days ago and was very impressed. I never considered myself much of an Indian food fan, but the food was incredible. Nice portions and reasonably priced. Highly recommended. The service was decent right up until the end of the meal when we were left sitting at an empty table for over 20 minutes. Did we care for coffee? Something sweet? Our bill even??? Our server(s) never came back and we eventually walked up to the front, paid and left. As a former restaurant manager, this left just the tiniest sour taste after the quality meal. Been coming here for 5 years - it is a real gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere is great - the owner recognizes us and chats for minute when we come in. You are really made to feel welcome. It's a small restaurant, though they expanded a couple of years ago, so it's not so cramped anymore. Make reservations - this place is packed most nights. I've probably had just about everything on the menu at this point. Apps are great - I usually go for veggie samosas, which are crunchy and not too greasy. In terms of mains, there are a huge number of great plates with amazing flavour profiles - my favourite is the korma (sooo creamy without being too heavy). My wife loves the tikka masala. Be sure to get naan with your meal to soak up the sauces - it is properly made in a tandoor and is just perfect. There is only one dish which I cannot recommend - the butter chicken. It is far too tomatoey and not creamy enough, which is a shame; I normally love butter chicken. In any case, if you are looking for great Indian food, go here, go NOW! You won't regret it. read more

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in the Hamilton area! I have a lot of food allergies (dairy and gluten), so it's usually very hard for me to eat out. India Village is so accommodating that they actually have separate sections on their menu that highlight what is vegan and what is gluten-free. My husband and I was there today for dinner. We booked the table in advance so as soon as we reached there we got seated right away. We ordered Paneer Madras, Bhindi Kardhai, roti and Kashmiri Pulao. After 20 mins our food came and generally your curry dishes comes first on the table and then bread. But here, our Tandoori roti came first and after (say around) 5 mins other things came. I was hungry so I have started eating my roti without any curry. Then as soon as curry came to our table, with in no time I served one of the curry on my plate and found that there is NO SALT in my Paneer Madras and the taste and look was completely different than what I had earlier. Bhindi Kardhai was also half cooked. This is the second time in a row that we did not get the same taste what we had in our first visit. read more

Excellent experience last evening. Food is beautifully seasoned (according to your preference) and service was exceptional. The shrimp/mushroom appetizer is amazing and very generous. Full meal combos (butter chicken and chicken madras) a great option. We find at times that Indian food can be rather "oily" - it is not at India Village. It is fresh tasting while maintaining that sumptuous taste. We did over-order and our party of 4 had a great time and have plenty of leftovers. Beautiful looking place, with a very nice and friendly manager, but the food and waitresses are disappointing. Fellow South Asians, please do not go here expecting authentic Indian food. They had corn, green beans, peas, and bell peppers in their biryani. I kid you not! Their spicy chicken dish was inedible due to extreme heat. Not spice (as in, spicy, with some heat and tons of flavor), this was just heat. Plain burning heat with zero favor. Their onion bajji and garlic naan were decent and they were the only half decent part of the dinner. They did warn us about the spice level of the curry, it was 'very hot', but I'm a south Asian, I've eaten crazy spice all my life, but this is just wrong. You can't use 20 red chillies and call that edible. Maybe I should have made a bet with the waitress and the chef, and made them eat it in front of me. The waitresses were also completely clueless and some of them were completely rude. They did not want to be there and it showed through. That being said, they did have decent garlic naan. Very dissappointing, and will NOT return. Should have known better, shouldn't have been fooled by all the award certificates on the wall. Extremely nice owner and her friendliness can't make up for the joke of a chef. read more
