It was a nice open design with several very challenging holes. Of course its also near the motor speedway and there was a race going on that day as well which made it difficult for traffic as well as the loud roars while playing. While the course shows the Gateway Arch, its located on the Illinois side of the river. I didn't play my best game, but still had fun and didn't lose too many balls.

Plenty of helpful golf advice and lots of Golf stories too. I enjoy this course a lot, not the best condition, but good for Middle to High Handicappers. So unless you need a super tough course, this one will challenge you. The only thing stopping me from calling this my home course is distance, it is 25 miles from my front door. So I will not be going there weekly. But will play here several times a year. Price is good, for me the course is good, if you hit straight and low handicap, this may be good for you. I didn't even rate some of those courses as 5 Stars for various reasons whether it be the price, staff, or course conditions. Indian Springs is a wonderful course in southern Illinois that presents unexpected challenges and forces a player to use all 14 clubs in their bag. It isn't a 5 Star Course based on Bent Grass, hosting a PGA event or towering fairway bunkers but rather due to the prices, owners, and use of the terrain implemented into their design. This is a wonderful course that has various leagues, hosts tournaments, and treats its guests like friends. Most importantly (to me) is the fact that the owners are beyond friendly and extremely hospitable. I love visiting Indian Springs because she makes me feel like family and is genuinely excited to see me and always thanks me for my Military Service. I won't be playing here for a few years as I move to England but I like forward to coming back next time I'm in Southern Illinois visiting.

A nice little course up in Godfrey. Played in the afternoon midweek, paid less than 15 bucks for 18…read morewith a cart. Greens were in very good shape considering how they are in the rest of the area right now. Not too many ball marks or burnt up areas. Fairways were in decent shape, and the rough was pretty straightforward to play out of, played very fair all around. Layout-wise, the front 9 benefit a longer hitter, lots of space to go hard with driver. Groves of trees separate most of the fairways from each other, so be prepared to play some low safety shots if you're a little wild off the tee. The back 9, however, I didn't really care for. There's two hard left doglegs that just seemed a little cutesy, they were easy to play with an iron off the tee, I just thought the design was lame on the first hole with it, and then the second was enough to annoy me into ranting about it. Assume it's due to a lack of space on the back side, which happens, I understand, just wasn't my cup of tea. Other than that, a pleasant little course. May be back if I can snag another cheap tee time. As an added benefit, looked like they had a nice big driving range, and more than enough space to warm up on the practice green. Can't attest to the food and beverage situation in the clubhouse, but assume it's on the same level as any other course around.

We've visited at least a dozen courses over the past couple of years, with the top slot regularly changing. Far Oaks is now our go-to, and is a pleasure from the pro shop to the 18th green. The course is challenging, but not overwhelming, carts are in great shape, course itself is super fun, and everyone from the starter to the groundskeepers are friendly and welcoming. It gets busy, but pace of play is solid. Back 9 is a fun ride that lets you get creative with club selection. Some folks might complain about the sand, but who wants to hit out of the traps anyway? Great course, great people, and a great way to spend a few hours. Can't wait for our next visit!
